The Wedding Festivities!
Our wedding was held on Saturday, May 11, 2002 at the
Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York.  We had a  traditional Hindu ceremony which was followed by a cocktail hour and reception.  The evening ended with wild dancing into the night, and Michael and Monika making a getaway in a vintage Rolls Royce!

Her Side: Our first year of law school, Mike and I ended up on opposite sides of the fence while discussing  the recent death of Princess Diana over lunch.  I expressed deep sympathy for her plight only to be rebuffed by Mike who thought it absolutely ridiculous that anyone could feel sorry for her.  After the lunchroom incident, I could hardly  speak to Mike for the rest of the year.
The following year, Mike moved in across the street from me.  Common friends, the 2L job hunt, and neighborly love led me to warm up to him.  Suddenly, I came to know a very different Mike.  He let me use his free laundry facilities, cleaned up my wine-stained rug the morning after a dinner party, and even baked me his grandmother's cherry pie!  Plus, he was so cute!  I knew I couldn't let such a great catch slip away.   After numerous platonic dinner dates and obvious clues, he finally got the point.

His Side: So we were all sitting at lunch one day in the fall of 1997, Princess Di had just died, and so had Mother Teresa.  I was annoyed that Di was getting all the press coverage, and expressed my frustration in perhaps less than polite terms.  I remember that Monika was sitting at the table, and she was a girl that I had my eye on for some time, but I thundered on about the evils of the modern media.  She didn't talk to me for at least 6 months.
The next year, my luck was working when she moved next door, and without laundry to boot.  She became a weekly presence in my life, and once I baked her Mimi's famous Cherry pie, I felt that I was well on my way to recovering from the "Princess Di incident".  Then one weekend, at a holiday party, she caught me under the Mistletoe, and who was I to object to the affections of a beautiful woman?
