WEDDING DETAILS!
The wedding will be a traditional Hindu ceremony. This ceremony typically lasts about a week, but you will be seeing a much compressed version! The ceremony is not just between the bride and groom, but also between their families.
We will be serving a variety of Indian Cuisine at the Reception. If you're new to Indian food, don't worry, we have chosen dishes we're sure will be a treat for the first time diner and lifelong enthusiast! If you would like to try some Indian food before the wedding, here is a brief explanation of our favorites: Tandoori Chicken: Skinless, yogurt-marinated chicken baked in a Tandoor, a Traditional Indian clay oven, which is baked at very high temperatures for a short period of time to seal in the flavor and juices. It is non-spicy, extremely addictive, and makes for wonderful leftovers! Indian restaurants in America often throw Sausage, shrimp, or other delights into the Tandoor, but be careful, these tend to be hot and spicy! Nan: Indian Bread, Nan is somewhere between a pita and a pancake! Light and fluffy, it is a perfect accompaniment to the many sauces that flavour Indian foods. Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken): The quinnessential Indian dish, and the most popular in America. Boneless Tandoori Chicken in a tomato-cream butter sauce, with traditional Indian seasonings. Simply superb, and not spicy. A perfect starter dish for those of us learning about the complex flavours of India! Sag Paneer: Perhaps Michael's favorite, chunks of homemade Paneer cheese with a creamed spinach sauce (Sag means Spinach; if you're partial to peas, then order Mutter Paneer, which is Paneer with peas!). This dish is best made by Monika's mom, so try and get in good with her at the wedding to experience perfection! These are just a couple of our favorites, but we can heartily recommend that you try some Indian in the near future. Look at how it turned out for Michael!!
HONEYMOON We went to Anguilla, a quaint little island somewhere in the Carribean. We stayed at the Cuisinart Resort, an exclusive resort and spa, where we recuperated from the wedding!
