North Cape, August 17, 2000

The North Cape is the most northerly point of the European continent.

From the port of Honningsvag we traveled by bus (motorcoach) to the North Cape plateau, Europes northernmost point. We passed north of Latitude 71 degrees north. Along the way we took this picture of Honningsvag Harbor.

Honningsvag Harbor Before we reached the plateau, we stopped at a small gift store at a Sami camp. We saw reindeer in their summer grazing spots. I took this picture of Marghe with "Nils" the most photographed Sami in the World (according to him). Marghe with Nils

The North Cape Plateau rises 307 meters above the sea. Here the plateau is pictured behind Marghe in the first picture and the second shows it in the distance, with its "Horn".

There is also a souvenir shop, post office, caf and ecumenical chapel. This is a large World Globe at Tip of North Cape. World Globe at Tip of North Cape.
The next day we would arrive in Kirkenes, Norway, where we would disembark. We would then be making our way to Helsinki, Finland. We made our way by bus, cab, train and boat, eventually reaching Helsinki on the 26th of August.
