| Medicine Woman is alone at top of fantasy league |

| COVINGTON -- Tie-breaker, schmie-breaker. After sharing the top spot in the Family Fantasy Football League for a week, team Medicine Woman, coached by Lesley, has staked an undisputable claim to the top spot. A week ago, she was tied for the best record with the previous top dog -- the Big Bad Mamas, coached by Lanie. But by virtue of Lanie's loss Sunday, combined with Lesley's 50-42 win over Mike Walsh's Quien Es Tu Papa, Lesley finds herself alone at the top, with a 7-2 record. AT HER HEELS: Lesley better enjoy her success while it lasts, because there are a trio of 6-3 teams in hot pursuit. Not the least of them is the high-scoring Dapper Dan, coached by Lanie's brother Peter, which knocked off the aforementioned Mamas last week by a score of 89-85. (Talk about your sibling rivalries.) Not only has Peter scored more points so far this year than any other team, but he will meet Lesley head-on next week in a battle for league supremacy. COMING ON STRONG: Another team to watch is the surging Uncle Ted, the squad coached by Shane and Betsy that is the owner of a two-game winning streak. As if showing off its newfound muscle, Uncle Ted embarrassed Bobby on Sunday by doubling up on his team, Malliot Jaune, by a score of 101-49. That performance made Uncle Ted only the fourth team in the Family Fantasy Football League to score more than 100 points this season, following in the footsteps of Dapper Dan, Medicine Woman and Maillot Jaune. THE BACK OF THE PACK: Judy and Mick's Georgia Peaches and Mike Scott's The Write Stuff may be the league's doormats, but they haven't played like it recently. The Peaches got the best of the two teams' matchup last week, 83-70, but both are coming on convincingly with five weeks left to surge into playoff contention. For his part, Mike isn't worried about his team's chances. "Plenty of time," he said. "Plenty of time." | COVINGTON -- Inspired by Bobby's new sideline gig, (see message number 537 on the messge board), we've decided to do a little checking on what other families are up to. We were surprised at what we found, and we're sure you will be, too. Well, well, well. Look who's been named director of clinical research of the Pain Relief Unit at King's College in London. Congrats, big guy. (But that must be one heck of a commute.) How much are you willing to pay to see what Artie's been up to? I hear one-dollar bid, do I hear two? I got a two-dollar bid, do I hear three ... And if that's not good enough, you might want 'A Closer Look at Art Scott.' (But not too close. He had a tuna sandwich for lunch.) Well, her name is Liz Scott and she's a jouralist, so it must be her. One question: Who the heck is this Stuart guy? (And what is she doing in England? Going to visit Magdi at King's College, I guess.) Eat your heart out, Capshaw. Medical school, schmedical school. We know how you're spending your time. (This one's a twofer. Check out the links on the left; looks like a certain cousin was recruited for movie reviews.) Man, not only does she have the same name, but it really looks like her, too! |
