| Dickie Davies Cup 1st Round - Welly 3 Maynell l - 16 October 2005 After a weeks break, which did show. We bowed out of the Dickie Davies Cup. Full credit to Welly who deserved their victory. We lacked sharpness, we lacked fitness in several players and imagination. We didnt really want to battle for the victory. We went 1-0 after some sloppy play, we got back to score back to 1-1, but was 2-1 down after 5 minutes of getting back into the game. We stared the 22dn half better but didnt create anything in the final third nor tested their goalkeeper. A lesson learned. We must play better than this with more determination and show how much we want to win games. |

| Maynell 1 FC Lockers 2 - 23 October 2005 Going into this game after our performance the previous week. Started well and to work hard and battle against a hard working opposition. Played better than last week's performance, but need to score early, unfortunately we went a goal behind after failing to deal with a corner. We got ourselves back into the game and the scores remained 1-1 at half time. Got the team to be more solid and use the ball better than what we were doing in the 1st half. The 2nd half was much better than the 1st half, as we never tested the goalkeeper apart from once, when we scored. The 2nd half we created more chances, but failed to take our chances. The score remained at 1-1, but the opposition wanted the 3 points and towards the end of the game were reduced to 10 men, we failed to capitalise on the extra man, we let them back into the game and was done in the last 2 minutes of the game, when we again fell to an over the top ball, which we failed to clear. |
| Maynell 2 New George 2 - 30 October 2005 Started the game with only 11 players, but started very sloppily by giving away a needless free kick and which was'nt dealt with properly. We got back our equaliser within minutes of going 1 down. We scored a 2nd,which came from an own goal, but failed to hold onto the lead. Scores remained level at the break. We started the 2nd half more better than the 1st, a very scrappy game, which either side could of won, but failed to take any chances. We had a glorious chance to win the game but failed to pass to unmarked teammate. We must start taking our chances to win matches. |
| Maynell 1 Heatwave 2 (Jack Walpole Cup) - 6 November 2005 Unfortunately if we would of had 11 players, then the difference would of been there for us and we would of been through to the next round. Solid team performance battled from start to finish and with only 10 players, took the lead from a penalty. Held out for 10 minutes and their 1st goal was offside, but this decision went against us. The scores were level. Our Premiership opponents were worried as we held them out for awhile and then they got their 2nd after failing to clear a corner with 10 players, there was'nt much difference between the sides wasone goal and 1 player down for us. We must build on this performance!! |
| Army & Navy 6 Maynell 0 - 13 November 2005 This game was a game of 2 halves, started well and dominated our opponents for the 1st 35 mins, without a getting a goal. We were hard to break down and caused thjem a few problems.The opposition was held to only 1 shot in the 1st half which they scored. At the break we trailed 1-0. Started the 2nd half no as good as the 1st, but we failed to pick up their runners who beat the offside trap and gave away 3 silly goals in a period of 15 minutes, we gained our composure, but rarely threatened the opposition keeper. We played our worst 2nd half performance and gave away goals due to lack of marking or defending. Didnt deserve to lose 6-0, and the game never reflected how the game went, Hopefully we learn from this game! |
| Maynell 3 Admiral Mann 5 - 20 November 2005 After our worst game of the season the previous week, this game was meant to be a game where the players showed character and committment. We played this game better than the previous week with some better football, but lacked sharpness in front of goal. After being 2-1 up at the break, we shoulf of gone up a level and score more, but we gave silly goals away and conceded 2 penalties after fouling the same player!! The scores were level with 20 minutes to go,but showed no concentration and gave away 2 goals and threw away 3 points. |
