Just 92 km west of the Merida, on the west coast of Yucatan, is the Celestun Biosphere Reserve. Here you can watch endemic flora and fauna in their natural habitat by taking a boat tour of the lagoon, the mangroves, the Valdiosera and venecia freshwater springs, and the Tampetén petrified forest. the one thing you can't miss is the espectacular sight of thousand of flamingos in thier native surroundings. All these atractions have made Celestun a peerless destination for experiencing nature and an excellent example of the conservation value of the Biosphere Reserves.
