Ha ha ha, hee hee hee We used to get the Reader's Digest when I was growing up. Do you remember those? I always loved the humor sections, though as always, some jokes are funnier than others. I myself can't tell jokes at all. I always forget the punch line, or mess up the sequence of things, and the joke just isn't funny anymore. After a few groans and some light beatings, I have given up the telling of humorous tales. Let someone else do it! Which is not to say that I'm not a humorous person. At least, I'm humorous to those who "get" me. Which is just another way of saying that I'm only funny to people with the same sense of humor as mine. Logical, right? Um... what was the point of all this anyway? Ah yes. I was going to write a dissertation on the infectious nature of laughter. *smirk* I was sitting on the couch with my flat mate the other night. We were watching reruns of Startrek: Voyager (yes, I only started watching them the second time around) and a rather amusing commercial came on. It is for a particular brand of salmon, and the idea of the commercial is based on all the trials and tribulations that the owner supposedly goes through to get YOU, the consumer, the best and freshest salmon possible. I'd seen it before, and though I'd laughed the first time I saw it, I didn't find it all that funny after the 20th viewing. Joost laughed through just about the whole thing, and though I tried to stop myself (just as an experiment, you understand), I too was laughing along by the end. Conclusion? Laughter is contagious. I'll be taking that A+ now, thank you.... |
