"Shivinator" Shiv
versus
Wildfire
Singles Match
Referee: Grant August
Writer: Dom Stoate
[The two commentators are exchanging words as the camera opens to
show Wildfire entering the ring, his entrance music dying down, and
his video stopping.]
Sully: Yeah, but if he was so good, then how
come he lost to The Hobo last week?
JP: That damn Dom Stoate got involved,
that's how! He came down and helped The Hobo, who I thought was on
the verge of turning over a new leaf! I thought he was starting to
show his true colours and-
Sully: What? Brown?
[Shiv eyes Wildfire, eyes narrowed as he paces about the ring a
little bit, eager to hear the bell toll and get the match underway.
He gets his wish as the referee calls for the bell to ring. They both
lunge, but it is Wildfire who gets the upper hand, grabbing onto the
collar area of his opponent and using sheer force to push him back
against the turnbuckles. There he would hold him for a little bit
before the referee finally intervenes and breaks it up. Wildfire
would yell at the referee harshly before turning back to Shiv, who
has managed to gather himself appropriately enough to slam a fist
into the side of his face. Wildfire is stunned and stumbles to the
side, giving Shiv a chance to dart forwards and land a running DDT.
The fans appreciate the move which is executed to perfection, and
appreciate the speed at which the match is going, as Wildfire kicks
out of a one-count.]
JP: Shivinator going for the early cover,
but no chance, as Wildfire gets his shoulder up after the count of
only one.
Sully: He most certainly isn't gonna keep
him down with that.
JP: It really did seem like more of a crowd
pleaser, but you can't say it hasn't boosted his confidence as the
audience get behind him, cheering him on here!
[That they are, belting out his name loudly, as Shiv locks
Wildfire into a grapple, before clearly demonstrating how he has the
upper hand before grabbing him and hitting a huge scoop slam.
Wildfire hits the canvas, and writhes a little as Shiv leaps up and
hits a huge elbow drop. This, again, pleases the fans. Shiv does not
go for the cover this time, but stands back up, grabbing Shiv and
pulling him up with him as he does. He holds onto the back of his
head and walks him towards the turnbuckle, throwing him against it
hard. He follows up with a few solid elbow strikes before letting his
opponent stagger forwards into a side walk slam. He goes, again, for
the cover....12.- Kick out.]
JP: Shiv, again, going for the cover. You
gotta wonder, Sully. What these big-time strikes and moves are doing
to not just Wildfire's body, but his confidence, too. Shiv is
consistently landing these moves, and they're catching Wildfire out
every single time.
Sully: Sure, he has the upper hand now, but
you want to know what I think? I think Wildfire is biding his
time.
JP: You do?
Sully: Yeah, I honestly do. He is allowing
Shiv to land these few, as you put it, 'big-time moves', but I don't
think that Shiv knows that he is slowing himself down. He is wearing
himself out.
JP: Well, you're here to give your opinion,
and you're entitled to it.
Sully: And that's it: I think that Wildfire
is gonna win this. He is obviously feeling the effects of Shiv's
offence, but Shiv is choosing to go for these harder, more powerful
moves, and I think, after a bit, that Shiv is gonna be tired. He is
gonna be hurting as much as Wildfire.
JP: That's a possibility.
[Shiv pounds the mat quickly, not in frustration, but more
determination as he stands back up, and lets Wildfire stagger to his
feet very gradually. He slouches forwards straight into what would be
a powerful clothesline, if he did not duck it. But Wildfire manages
to get out of the way, and he stands back up, grabbing onto the neck
of his opponent, landing the neck breaker, much to the delight of
many of the fans.]
JP: Well, both men seeming to have support
from the audience.
Sully: They're both fan-favourites,
JP.
JP: You could very well be right,
there.
Sully: Of course, I am.
[Both men remain on the canvas for a short period, but it is
Wildfire that first shows signs of picking himself up. He does so
eventually, and stands up with the assistance of the ropes.
Eventually, Shiv stands up and slouches for his opponent. Wildfire
snaps down, away from the blow, demonstrating freshness that you
would not expect after the opening array of moves landed on him by
Shiv.]
JP: You can not deny Wildfire's resilience.
He is still up and moving as if he has just stepped into the ring.
What was landed on him earlier doesn't seem to have affected
him!
Sully: That's what I was talking
about.
JP: Well, maybe next time I should just take
your word for it.
Sully: That sounds about right.
[Wildfire turns and hits a huge drop kick to Shiv who hits the
canvas on the back of his shoulders hard, and Wildfire picks himself
up, shaking his head about a bit, getting into the swing of things
now, apparently. Shiv is a little bit more sluggish standing this
time, and Wildfire takes advantage of it, moving forwards, grabbing
onto his hand and backing him towards the ropes behind them. He
pushes him backwards into the ropes and whips him forwards. Shiv
would bound forwards, rebound off the ropes opposite, but be equal to
the oncoming clothesline, ducking beneath it, turning and hitting a
huge punch to the side of his opponent's face.]
JP: What a shot! And this could be all she
wrote for Wildfire!
[Shiv drops onto his knees and goes for the cover....12Wildfire
gets the shoulder up after the two count.]
JP: This match is really beginning to pick
up now, a lot of near falls.
Sully: Wildfire'll kick out. Time and time
again; he will kick out.
JP: It certainly seems that way at the
moment. Shiv is having a hard time keeping him down.
[Shiv stands up, dragging Wildfire up with him as he does. He
slaps his hand across his chest before shoving him in the direction
of the turnbuckle. It is from there that he commences heavy chops to
the chest of his opponent. Wildfire writhes in the corner as Shiv
takes it a bit slower, allowing Wildfire to slump forwards. He dips
down and hoists Wildfire onto his shoulders, picking him up and
keeping him draped over his shoulder for a little while. He makes
sure that his head is hanging parallel to the opposite turnbuckle
before he runs forwards and attempts to hit him with a snake eyes. No
such thing happens, however, as Wildfire slides off his back and
pushes him chest-first into the turnbuckle. Shiv 'oof!'s and stumbles
backwards, straight into a roll-up....12-Shiv gets a shoulder up
just about.]
JP: A quick roll-up there. This match
finally seeming to take its toll on the combatants.
[The two stand up quickly, apparently riding on a second wind.
Wildfire, again, gets the upper hand, and ducks, again, beneath a
clothesline, turns and nails a shot to his opponent's gut that stuns
Shiv. He hits him again before leaning back and hitting him hard
across the chest, knocking him back onto his shoulders. Shiv rolls
onto his back and a very weary Wildfire ambles towards the
turnbuckle. He hauls himself up onto it wearily. On top of it he
stands for a moment or two before leaping off in an attempt to land
The Crisis! He hits it with a great ovation from the audience before
making the cover....12Shiv just manages to get the shoulder up,
much to the excitement of the audience in the arena. Wildfire holds
his head in disbelief as he sits up, and Shiv remains laying on his
side, struggling to regain his breath.]
JP: My God! He kicked out! I don't believe
this! I don't believe this at all!
Sully: How did he manage to kick out of
that?!
JP: I don't know, but he somehow managed to
do it!
[Wildfire does not let his disbelief get to him, however. He is
quick heading towards the turnbuckle again. As soon as he reaches the
top of it, and as soon as he allows the audience to aptly get behind
him, he launches himself off the turnbuckle. The cameras flash. The
audience roars, and Wildfire soars. Unfortunately for him, Shiv
manages to squirm out of the way just in time. He hits the canvas
hard and rolls to the edge of the ring.]
JP: He missed! Shiv managing to roll out of
the way in what is considered the 'nick of time', there!
Sully: Oh no!
[Wildfire rolls about on the canvas, arms wrapped about himself as
Shiv just starts to pick himself up very slowly.]
JP: And now it is a real race of time to see
who is able to pick themselves up first. Who will it be?
Sully: C'mon Wildfire!
JP: I think it is going to be Shiv if either
of them at all.
[Wildfire stirs a little bit more before going to drag himself up
to his feet, but Shiv has a lot of ground on him, and he looks to be
the first to his feet. Wildfire stumbles into the middle of the ring
as he picks himself up, right next to Shiv. Shiv straightens up and
leans back, nailing a lazy boot into the gut of his opponent.
Wildfire doubles up and Shiv grabs him around the throat before
hitting the Everflow DDT! The fans roar as he goes for the cover,
hooking the leg with his own..12Wildfire manages to just power out
of the pin.]
JP: Wildfire! There's life in him
yet!
Sully: That was a close one!
JP: Both men have looked to have won it at
several stages in this match, but it is going to come down to the
wire. As we thought it would, both men having been on form recently.
Shiv coming so close to winning the Xtreme Title from The Hobo. He
would have too, if not for that damn so-called General Manager Dom
Stoate!
Sully: It was a bit of that Divine
Intervention again, I think.
JP: Well, we do know that in the past, The
Hobo has been a favourite of the General Manager. He has been giving
more of a chance than EniGma, whose career wasamazingly short in the
MWF.
[Shiv kneels up, holding onto his head as he does, Wildfire lays,
arms outstretched in pretty much the centre of the ring. Shiv reaches
out, and holds onto the bottom rope to get some stability in standing
up. Wildfire slowly begins to stand as Shiv finally finds his feet
and settles into a standing position.]
JP: And now Shiv is up. Can he capitalise?
Can he take advantage here?
Sully: Wildfire is out cold, JP. I think
that could be all she wrote for him in this match.
[As Sully says this, Wildfire begins to stir a little more
convincingly, and, as Shiv moves over to him, begins to wriggle a
little bit. Shiv drags him to his feet, using his hair as the main
source of leverage. He holds him in a crouched position for a few
seconds, as if trying to confirm what he intends to do. He appears to
make his decision and nails Wildfire with a solid kick to the gut
before leaning him backwards into the turnbuckle. He takes a step
backwards.]
JP: Remember folks, this is how he lost the
last match against The Hobo; going up top, or at least making an
attempt to.
[He darts forwards towards him, but, much like The Hobo did,
Wildfire manages to rouse himself and kick his legs forwards,
striking him in the face with his foot. Shiv rolls backwards before
finding his feet again. In this time, Wildfire has managed to haul
himself onto his feet on the turnbuckle. He leaps off the second rope
in an attempt to land what looks to be a hurricanrana. There is a
pause as he lands on his opponent's shoulders, but all does not go to
plan as Shiv jumps up with him atop of his shoulders and hits a huge
powerbomb! The fans go wild and Shiv is quick to lean over him and
hook the legs!]
JP: Oh, and Shiv might well have it
here!
[123! Shiv rolls backwards, arms outstretched as he absorbs the
fans and their admiration.]
Peter Santos: And your winner, through pinfall, Shiv!
JP: He's done it! He's won the match! What a
gruelling and taxing match for the two of them, but Shiv has come out
the winner!
Sully: What a finish!
JP: What a finish indeed! Shiv almost lost
it in the same way in which he lost his Xtreme title match, but he
pulled a powerbomb out of the bag to defeat Wildfire here
tonight!
[Shiv rolls out of the ring and finds his
feet, stumbling up the ramp, arms raised. Meanwhile, in the ring,
Wildfire is holding his head, teeth bared in anguish. Shiv grins
wearily, holding the back of his head, eyes squinting through the
pain.]
JP: And that is a good win; a valuable win
for him, and against a wrestler with a lot of good experience!
Sully: But don't think that Wildfire is
gonna take this one well. Wildfire still has a hell of a lot in him.
He is gonna bounce back from this one harder than ever.
JP: Both men came very close, but it was
Shiv in the end that got the win.
Sully: This time.
