[The MaxiTrons brighten up a colour of white and a video package
begins rolling. The screen is static and the sound is quiet. The only
source of sound caught on this video is of the wind. In the bottom
right-hand corner of the screen it reads "MWF &endash; Earlier
Today". The fans in Manchester are seated watching patiently at the
screen. Their fixated eyes are wide open in anticipation to see the
video footage go even further into detail. The scenery is of a
middle-class street where a sign at the end of the road reads
"Chester Avenue". The cameras move on forward with John Pilkington
and Tim Sullivan giving running commentary in the background.]
Sully: Isn't that the place we saw in one of
The Grudge's promos at the end of last week?
JP: I believe it is Sully but what is the
reason for visiting this place for a second time?
Sully: Maybe Edward Walker loved the house
The Grudge picked out and bought a place there himself, he is a
millionaire after all JP.
JP: I wouldn't go that far Sully.
[We arrived at 679 Chester Avenue in Winnipeg where more MWF
technical workers had placed their equipment outside on the lawn of
this house. Their equipment was parked in single file, mostly cables
leading up the lawn and into the house, which was slightly open. The
cameras moved on, entering inside with the door creaking open as if
my coincidence. We had entered the main room, a wide screen
television located in the corner of the room as we stepped into the
living room. The television was replaying past events from the MWF
from "Kronik" defeating The "Kovenant" just on last week's edition of
Dynamite. After that a Tempest interview from earlier last week plays
as he gives his opinions on his upcoming match with Steven Douglas
and his March Madness conquest. The cameras snap to the side and we
see the MWF Xtreme Champion, The Grudge relaxing in a comfortable
sofa with a can of beer in his right hand and the remote control in
his left hand. He takes a sip of the liquor and adjusts his position
in the sofa. He seems frustrated however after takes another sip of
the alcohol substance and the cameras notice the MWF World
Heavyweight Champion, Thunder Bull pacing back and fourth on his
cell-phone. Thunder Bull is waving his free hand in the air
dramatically as we catch the phone conversation on sound.]
Thunder Bull: Steve I understand your
frustration I understand your angry but let me explain
Steven Douglas:
Thunder Bull: The rules of The "Kovenant"
are simple, there are no rules. We don't order you about like you
have dwelled on all week. We are united as a unit Steven and we
promise we will never order you about. The Grudge and I do what we
feel is best for the "Kovenant" and that is we allow each other to
use their own initiative, You can make your own decisions Steve so
don't worry. The Grudge and I will never give you orders and demand
you to do certain things we want doing. We handle issues by ourselves
but we also handle issues together.
Steven Douglas:
Thunder Bull: Don't ponder about it. We
understand your concern Steven Douglas and you have every right to be
questionable.
[The Grudge would frown slightly before speaking to Thunder Bull
as he is in the middle of his rather important conversation with the
new acquirement in The "Kovenant" stable.]
The Grudge: The MWF Television Champion
needs to know he is a valuable asset in the "Kovenant" Thunder Bull.
These mind games that Tempest has been playing with him all week have
gotten to him. Their floating inside his head like a pressure point.
[The "Perfector of Pain" worryingly glanced at The Grudge who
tapped his index finger against the side of his forehead. Thunder
Bull smirked and nodded at The Grudge's advice. Thunder Bull
continued talking to Steven Douglas who was waiting anxiously on the
other end of the line.]
Thunder Bull: The Grudge just stated and I
quote: "Steven Douglas is a valuable asset to the Kovenant". We
wanted your services for this dark and mysterious group Douglas
because we know what you are truly capable of. We realize your true
potential and we respect you tremendously as an athlete. Unlike
Tempest we respect you a great deal. You're full of surprises Douglas
and this is an advantage for the "Kovenant". We know when not to
cross the line so do not threat you do things on your own terms and
we will support you every step of the way. We won't order you about
like a henchman we are not like that. This group is about team work
and next Sunday night people will witness live in London, England and
all around the world that the "Kovenant" will outclass the faded
memory of Twisted Vizion and the Master Plan.
Steven Douglas:
Thunder Bull: No problem and don't worry I
will see you later tonight. I bid you farewell my friend, take
care.
[Thunder Bull hangs up his cell-phone and throws it carelessly on
the sofa next to The Grudge. Grudge now unveils the MWF Xtreme and
World title belts that were placed to one side on a small wooden
table. Thunder Bull smiles as he gazes into his World title belt. His
eyes are gleaming gold as he stares at his reflection in awe.]
The Grudge: You love that belt; I can see it
in your eyes. You were born a champion.
[Thunder Bull kept his eyes on the World title belt, his name
etched on the platelet in bold lettering. However, the "Perfector of
Pain" managed to say a few words even though he was in his little
dream world.]
Thunder Bull: And I'll damn sure die as a
champion.
[Both men laughed manically with The Grudge gently placing the
prestigious title belts to one side standing to a vertical base. The
Grudge would straighten himself standing next to Thunder Bull. They
looked at one another with The Grudge being the first to speak.]
The Grudge: "Kronik" fair dues you prevailed
last week, retaining those coveted Tag Team titles that mean so much
to you both. But don't celebrate just yet because we have been
advised by Edward Walker that a contract has been signed, ceiled and
delivered to us for a rematch for those Tag team titles at March
Madness and we have it right here with us.
[The Grudge would ravel his jean pockets out until a small white
sheet of paper fell to the floor. The Grudge picked up the paper and
unfolded the tiny little squared paper until it was a full A4 size.
He turned the documentation around to reveal the signatures of
Thunder Bull and The Grudge on the front. Both men smiled with
Thunder Bull taking over.]
Thunder Bull: Last week though Sozzey and
Mak we gave you a fight of your life. It took you the last ounce of
energy, the last ounce of strength in your being, the last fibre
inside your body to overcome the "Kovenant". You hoped to dominate us
and you wished you could send us to the hospital that night but you
accomplished neither. You defeated us and I can respect that
somewhat. But you didn't destroy our pride and our will to win those
Tag Team titles. You see "Kronik" while three-weeks ago we
annihilated you and sent you in an ambulance to the local nearby
hospital in Japan. You had to go through one hell of a match and
survive on adrenaline and instinct to defeat us.
[The "Homicidal Creep" and the "Perfector of Pain" looked at one
another once again, then back into the cameras with their individual
cold stares. The Grudge spoke.]
The Grudge: We have been you toughest task
throughout your wrestling careers "Kronik". Three-weeks ago we nearly
ended your careers and just last week we were close to capturing
those tag team titles that rightfully belong to us. You managed to
outmatch us last week but in a fluke victory. But we won't deny the
fact that you do deserve those Tag team titles because you did
maintain some eligible teamwork.
Thunder Bull: But along the way The Grudge
and I have also learned more teamwork skills. We are becoming closer
as a tag team and at March Madness this special teamwork will signify
our first Tag team title reign. You may have defeated us last week
but who did you actually defeat? You only defeated yourselves because
making it one fall a piece automatically gave us one more chance to
reclaim those Tag team title belts. Edward Walker believes we are
evenly matched as a tag team and both teams are a hot prospect to the
tag team division. But he also believes it is time to settle the
score and end it at March Madness. The most "maddening" pay-per-view
in MWF history.
The Grudge: Thunder Bull and I are walking
in snorting and spitting and breathing fire and walking out holding
all the damn gold, roaring in your sinking faces.
Thunder Bull: You managed to defeat The
Grudge last week but you couldn't defeat me. I was on fire that night
"Kronik" and you couldn't tame this beast, this raging bull. You
focused on The Grudge the entire time, wise tactics maybe but you
couldn't blow out that blockade of fire, that wall of fire. You
couldn't blow out me! That same fire will burn this Sunday night at
March Madness as the real monster inside my heartless body will be
unleashed!
The Grudge: Your reign is coming to an
abrupt end!
[They would laugh sadistically and would begin to leave, however
Thunder Bull paused. The Grudge looked over at his frozen tag team
partner. The Grudge would grasp a hold of Thunder Bull's arm but the
MWF World Champion would brush it aside. Thunder Bull looked at The
Grudge who seemed as if he understood Thunder Bull's wordless
actions. The Grudge turned his back to the cameras, picking up his
Xtreme title belt and departed the room. The door closed behind The
Grudge leaving Thunder Bull all alone. The "Perfector of Pain" swung
his wet cosmic blue hair back from his face and looked into the
cameras. The desperation to let something out could easily be
recognised in his eyes. Thunder Bull looked down at his World title
belt. He reached out and picked up the World title by the strap and
threw it over his right shoulder. It dangled down helplessly as he
stood there like a true, gallant warrior and a fighting champion. He
curled his lip and would finally speak in all seriousness.]
Thunder Bull: Tempest Tempest
Tempest
[He relieved a sigh after repeating the same name three
consecutive times. However, the name had been stuck in his mind.
Thunder Bull would shake his head and proceeded.]
Thunder Bull: Don't think I had forgotten
about you. I saw your exchange of words between you and Steven
Douglas last week. You tried to outdo Douglas with your "refined"
words like you do so often but yet your intelligent words still
showed your real stupidity. Last week you and Steven Douglas talked
about chess a game for the elderly generation. How does such a dull
game get mentioned in the wrestling business? This isn't just about
the mind and how it works Tempest. This isn't an English lesson at
high school. No, this is wrestling; a world we both live in and both
of us share that same air. We travel on the road together but all you
could talk about is chess. I understand Douglas mentioning this
because he is in his early fifty's but hearing a man at your age
correcting this veteran was amusing.
[Thunder Bull chucked under his breath. He would readjust his
World title and placed his hand over it before resuming.]
Thunder Bull: You may have come off smart
Tempest when correcting Steven Douglas' mistakes on the rules of
Chess and how to play it. Maybe you should start writing a full
two-hundred paged book on the history of chess seeing as you have
Steven Hawkins brain and knowledge.
[The "Perfector of Pain" wiped his lip and laughing once more at
his small joke. He calmed himself down before continuing.]
Thunder Bull: Seeing as you decided to
return Steven Douglas' words and symbolising him with the different
categories of chess I have decided to establish which one you
represent Tempest. You are simply the misfortunate pawn.
[He would take a few steps back flexing his arms pumping himself
up for March Madness. His words made sense as he has seemed to learn
a lot since his last encounter last year with Tempest.]
Thunder Bull: You're the pawn you can't do
anything Tempest, you can't win the "big one". You can't win this
battle because you are the pawn and I am higher than you. Maybe in
your prime, back in the days when I was learning my ways in the
Maximum Wrestling Federation you could proclaim yourself the king.
But now you have changed like myself. While you have adapted to your
new role as a fan favourite, the very puppets that made me weak and
did nothing for me. I have changed into a man who is hell-bent of
revenge. I haven't been pinned nor submitted in over two months
because no man has matched up to my calibre.
[He paused for a second thinking of what to say next. He shook his
head pleased by what he had said so far and more words came out.]
Thunder Bull: Your reality Tempest is
nothing but a fantasy. You are like me when I first started in the
MWF, I was crazed on becoming World Champion but I slipped on my
first chance because I underestimated my opponent, which so happened
to be the great Troy Knight at the time. You might deny you have
underestimated me but I know for a fact the real you and what you
really think of people. Last week you stated in one of your ridicule
promos and I quote: "I have zero respect for Thunder Bull" unquote. I
have done nothing to offend you but say a few facts and figures on
the odd occasion and suddenly you don't respect me. How can you go
from respecting me as a champion and telling interviewers that I will
be a tough challenge for you? To someone who reveals his hatred for
the MWF World Champion and in fact has no respect whatsoever for him?
Whatever you say is beyond me as it makes no sense. Either you're
trying to play mind games with me and you are failing miserably. Or
you are trying to push a few buttons to make me crack but this is
being unsuccessful. Or that knock on the head you took before your
little vacation has changed you into the Tempest I do not remember.
[Thunder Bull scratches his chin for a few moments looking down at
the ground. His attention turned to the MWF World title and he patted
it delicately while it lay across his shoulder.]
Thunder Bull: You want this Tempest? Then be
yourself and stop being some hoax. For the past few weeks you have
become a vulnerable man, a man who I have no respect for. But that is
okay because you have no respect for me either so we both share one
thing in common. Tempest, you have conversed into someone who is
incapable of capturing the MWF World Heavyweight Championship. You
are someone who is undeserving of holding this World title. In the
past we had non-title feuds but with the World title now officially
on the line at March Madness I will be stomping in my second match of
the night still full of energy. I never run out of fuel Tempest and
you will find that out at March Madness. Your ready I see and your
prepared, but question is are you the next MWF World Champion. That I
can answer right here right now. No!
[The room had plunged into a pool of darkness; the light bulb had
smashed on the ground for no apparent reason. Thunder Bull's eyes had
turned from green to a pupil of blackness. His mouth opened and his
teeth were grinding together. He held the World title above his head
as if in victory and celebration. Thunder bellowed outside in
Winnipeg and Thunder Bull had transformed into an almighty possessed
beast. The "Perfector of Pain" yelled into the cameras his final
words.]
Thunder Bull: YOUR DESTINY IS A
NIGHTMARE!
[Smoke began to fill the room with some lights that were placed in
each corner of the room flickered on and off as if this was some sort
of paranormal activity. Thunder Bull's figure was engulfed in the
smoke and began to disperse underneath the grey clouds that
surrounded the room. After a few minutes of horrendous coughing and
wrenching the smoke faded and the lights had turned back on to glow
up the room. Everything seemed fine, the cameras scanned the room,
panning around until it stopped and focused particularly on the wide
screen television. The picture was blurry, buzzing badly. The picture
though was clearly of Tempest but the bizarre thing was the
television was covered in a stream of blood over the picture of
Tempest. Suddenly a message appeared reading the words: "Tonight I'll
pay you a visit but for now" and "FAREWELL". The screen then faded
and back to the commentary team of a shocked JP and Sully who looked
around at the silenced crowd.]
JP: Thunder Bull sending a very clear
message to his opponent at March Madness there.
Sully: I'm sure Tempest will be running
scared after that.
JP: I wouldn't think so, he has to focus on
beating Steven Douglas tonight.
Sully: That should be a close match, both
are very talented wrestlers.
JP: Tempest has a major disadvantage
though...
Sully: ...what's that JP?
JP: He doesn't have "The Master Plan"
anymore while Douglas has "The Kovenant".
Sully: Very true, and you always need a
little help from your friends.
JP: Let's take a break, we'll be back after
this with some tag team action.
Sully: See you in five folks...
--- Commercial Break: Who will be the MWF's next big star?
Missouri State Wrestling (www.geocities.com/mswfed) ---
["Watermelon" by The Boxer Rebellion hits the PA system and the
crowd look confused at the new sound filling the arena. The fans
though go wild as the MaxiTron stops spinning the MWF logo and
instead the eyes of the MWF CEO are shown, as they blink on the
MaxiTron a huge explosion of pyro goes up and fireworks rain down
onto the entrance way where the MWF CEO Edward Walker walks out to a
massive cheer from the crowd.]
JP: We haven't seen Walker for a while, he's
been quietly plotting away behind the scenes but the fans still have
a great respect for this man.
Sully: He's a great guy, but I don't think
it's the same when there is only him in complete control of the
MWF.
JP: I'm liking the new theme tune.
Sully: It's a cool track
[Walker steps onto the entrance ramp and waves to the fans as he
walks down, shaking a few hands and signing an autograph for a
desperate fan. He reaches the ring, and nods to Peter Santos who
prepares a microphone for the MWF CEO. The new theme tune starts to
fade out as Walker takes the mic and speaks to the crowd.]
Walker: Good evening, Manchester!
[A huge roar goes up from the crowd at Walker's words, he smiles
and nods as the fans applaud. He raises his arm for quiet and the
crowd obey.]
Walker: It's great to be back out here in
front of the British crowd, it's always a treat to come over here.
Now, I must first apologise for not being my normal self these past
few weeksmy dominance appears to be slipping slightly. "The
Kovenant" and others are beginning to grow, and we all know there is
only one man that can stop them
[The fans don't make a sound, although a few catch on and a chant
of "Walker! Walker! Walker!" starts up.]
Walker: Yeah, some of you get it. I am the
most powerful man in the Maximum Wrestling Federation, forget your
Steven Douglas, forget your Thunder Bull, forget your Grudge, it's
all about me. But, there is a man that I must really address,
Tempest.
[The popularity of the man who will go to March Madness to face
Thunder Bull is obvious.]
Walker: He's certainly turned the corner and
will be going to March Madness to face Thunder Bull for the MWF World
Heavyweight Championship, but last week Tempest you made a challenge,
a request, that I cannot ignore. You stated that you want to take on
three of the MWF's best tag teams in handicap matches, three weeks in
a row?
[The fans roar with excitement at the request made by Tempest last
week, Walker pauses and strokes the greying stubble on his chin as he
walks across the ring.]
JP: It's a mad challenge, but a brave
one.
Sully: Tempest is making a death wish, I
hope he realises that he will be destroyed by making such a bold
challenge.
JP: Three weeks, six opponents, three
matches, just one Tempest.
Sully: If he makes it through unbeaten he
really would be the best.
[The MWF CEO has paused near one of the turnbuckles, he leans on
it and speaks to the fans.]
Walker: I have given the request a lot of
thoughtthat is why I did not appear straight away last week.
Tempest, you have made a bold move in an attempt to prove you really
are the best. Well, who am I to stop you? I have spoken to those who
you challenged and the task is ready. You will have three hoops to
jump through, on Monday Night Dynamite April 4th you will face
"Kronik", the week after Insane Wayne and Gunman Stinger, and you
will finish your little test against "The Kovenant".
[A huge cheer goes up from the crowd at the announce of the
matches, Walker smiles.]
Walker: I think they shall be known as 'The
Trials of Tempest', I wish you the best of luck but it won't be easy.
Now, moving on to another pressing matter. I would like to speak
about an exciting match prospect I will be making for March Madness,
which is this Sunday
[The crowd respond with cheers, and Walker continues above their
noise.]
Walker: The MWF Tag Team Championships are
finally beginning to have some real meaning, and "Kronik" are still
clinging onto the belts. Sozzey and Mak have beaten down two very
good teams to retain their belts, and come March Madness they will
have to do it all over again.
[Walker holds up three fingers to the crowd, they look slightly
confused.]
Walker: Three teams, at March Madness, three
teams will be facing off at once for the MWF Tag Team Championships.
There will be blood, there will be carnage, a three team ladder match
for the MWF Tag Team Championships!
[The fans are on their feet cheering with excitement, JP and Sully
speak in excited tones.]
JP: Oh, wow! A three team brawl for the MWF
Tag Team Championships, with ladders.
Sully: That really will be something, but
which three teams will it be?
JP: I'd guess "Kronik" would be one of
them.
Sully: Goes without saying
[Walker strokes his greying stubbles once more and has a smile on
his face, he raises his arm up with three fingers and counts them off
as he speaks.]
Walker: "Kronik" and "The Kovenant" will be
two of the teamsthe third team will be the winner of the next match,
between Insane Wayne and Gunman Stinger when they face Doomsday and
ViperJ. Thank you everyone, enjoy Monday Night Dynamite,
goodnight!
[The fans cheer for Walker as he passes the mic to Peter Santos
and makes his way back up the entrance ramp, leaving JP and Sully to
discuss what happened.]
JP: Walker's laid down a match and a half
there, Doomsday and ViperJ have a massive chance now to make a name
for themselves.
Sully: You actually think they can beat the
legendary Insane Wayne, and his partner Gunman Stinger?
JP: I think they can, Doomsday is perhaps
more of a legend than Insane Wayne ever will be.
Sully: Wayne's the greatest wrestler to have
never won the MWF World Heavyweight Championship...
JP: ...that says a lot, he can't be that
great if he never won it.
Sully: Shall we just watch the match?
JP: Yeah, let's watch as the battle to see
who goes to March Madness unfolds.
