re the first aid kit analogy: THANK YOU!!! EXACTLY!!! He takes a little first aid kit along... in fact for what he'd probably need for the short distances he goes with becca it's not that little, it's probably a better equipped kit than the one in our house, but he always says "you never know what might happen out there, if not to you then to someone else, and it's best to be prepared." So YES! I will say brian just consider the phone part of the first aid kit. Put it IN your first aid kit. leave it turne doff till you need it. BUT TAKE IT ALONG.
I think he really was bugged that I was freaking and might be calling him. he can keep it turned off unless he needs to call for all I care... the point is like you said to have it to call out if he needs to. A Goldfinch just came and sat right on the limb of the boxwood on the other side of the screen, two feet away from me. So beautiful!! Wow. I saw this yellow FLASH and looked and there he was. Wow.
