| Here's another DAK infantry type. This guy follows much of the same procedure as our DAK rifleman seen previously. So without further ado, here's the rundown! -21C cap repainted to get that 'veteran sunbaked' look -21C gogs w/repainted frames and blackened lens -21C Afrika Korps uni dyed OD w/replaced tropical eagle -custom dyed elastic braces, straps, and belt -Yellow Ochre paint job to the 'metal' elements including helmet, gasmask can, and canteen cup. -added the obershutze rank insignia to the left sleeve Remember we were discussing elsewhere about the way the elastic takes color wierd depending on factors including ratio, heat, and time. Take a look at the mask cannister strap and see that it's got some pea-green overtones to it. Constrast that to the tan/yellow of the braces and the more dominately yellow tone of the equipment belt. This is a prime example of the disparity in dyeing elastic but it does make for a unique look when all put together. This figure and the others like him are apparently a dying breed as the recent release of the DAK figure by Dragon Models has made my custom Afrika Korps attempts obsolete! The infantry types at least...But it was a fun project to turn out and that's what it's all about folks...:) -Wills- |
