"Max?!! What are you doing here?" the surprise in her voice was evident. Max just smiled and kissed her sweetly. "Nothing, I just had to ask your Dad something." "Oh! What's wrong?" she asked worriedly. Max was still smiling and just shook his head. "It's nothing bad I promise." He kissed her again lingering for a few moments then brought his head back up again. "So what are you doing tonight?" Max asked lazily. "Why?" she said playfully. Running her hand up and down his arm. "What?" he said innocently. "I just wanted to know what my girlfriend was going to do since she wasn't going to be with me. Is there any harm in that?" he retorted. "Oh, well I was gonna go out with Maria for a little while after my shift..... Although, I'd much rather be with you." she said longingly. "Lizzzzz.... We haven't spent a day apart for a month now. Go with Maria and have fun." he told her. "Well, if I didn't know better Mr. Evans it sounds like your trying to get rid of me. What you getting tired of me already?" she said playfully but with a hint of hurt underlying. *Why dosen't he want to be with me tonight?* Max's heart broke when he saw how hurt she looked. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to him forcefully. Then he pulled her into an intense liplock. Pulling apart reluctantly and panting. Liz was dazed and her eyes were glazed over. "Wow what was that for?" she asked breathlessly. "I love you Liz Parker and it kills me to be away from you for even a second. You're the air I breathe. But I want you to have fun going out with your best friend instead of being holed up in the Crashdown every day." Liz opened her mouth to argue but Max cut her off. "Please go and have fun. I'll come by your window before you go to sleep if you want." he pleaded. Liz perked up and smiled. "Promise?" she said. Max smiled at the change in Liz's voice, happy that he was able to convince her that he did want to be with her. "Promise." he replied. "Okay." she kissed him once more and they briefly hugged. "I gotta get back to work. Maria's gonna kill me for leaving her out there alone for so long." Max chuckled and Liz smiled brightly. Then she tore herself away from the love of her life and practically ran into the Cafe. Max watched her go and then sauntered out the side door into the alley. Thinking and planning for what was to come that night. |
