| "Well, Max, I'm sure that you have somewhat of an idea of how difficult this decision is for me. I mean your 18 and you have a son. You bring Liz home at all hours of the night and you held up a freakin' convienience store!!!!" he started to yell and lose control, but he bit his tongue and forced himself to relax while Max was eating away at himself with guilt because he knew that Mr. Parker was right. After a few moments of silence Jeff began to speak again. "But, I'm willing to give you a second chance Max. I believe that you're a good person and that you just made some bad choices. Also, I'm sorta forced into this decision because I know that if I don't allow you two to see each other, it would make things a lot worse and extremely complicated. I don't want that to happen." he was interrupted by Max "I don't want it to either Mr. Parker but I can't be without Liz, I love her too much." Mr. Parker looked at him, studying his face for any signs of unsureness but all he saw was Max's love and desire for Liz shining out of every part of his being. "So, I thought about it and I have decided to allow you and Liz to see each other." A huge grin spread across Liz's face. Max wanted to shout for joy but he clamped down on it and listened to what Mr. Parker had to say. "But! Like I said Max, I do not trust easily so you both are pretty much on probation. "That means..." he looked at Max then Liz then back to Max again "that all of your dates until further notice are to be at the Crashdown..." Liz opened her mouth to object but Mr. Parker cut her off " this won't be forever if you do as I ask and then slowly I will gain my trust in you two back and I'll let you go out more but this way you can at least see each other so be grateful. If you don't do as I ask..." he trailed off and Max hurriedly reassured him " Don't worry Mr. Parker I'll do as you say. Liz means too much to me." "Okay, your dates will be here at the Crashdown only and you may drive her to school and drop her off if you want BUT and I mean this, you are to come straight here and there, NO STOPPING anywhere ELSE! Capice? Liz smiled and spoke "Gotcha Dad." Max let himself smile a little now and injected "No problem Mr. Parker" The two parents smiled over this matter and everyone was grateful that the seriousness and anger had passed and they were able to joke about it now. They all smiled at each other and Jeff and Nancy slid out of the booth and Max stood up with them. Shaking Jeff's hand he said "Thank you so much Mr. Parker you won't regret this." After Max shook Nancy's hand and Liz hugged both of her parents briefly, whispering her thanks, Jeff said in a serious tone " I better not Max." This time Liz answered " I promise Daddy, you won't." Jeff just nodded his head, incapable of any speech at the moment and turned to go upstairs. Mrs. Parker said to the couple "Don't stay down here too long hmmm? It's late." "Sure Mom." Liz replied quickly. She wished her parents would leave so that she could be alone with Max. " I won't stay long Mrs. Parker" Max reassured his girlfriend's mother. Liz pouted slightly when he said that and Max saw it. He squeezed her hand gently smiling at her reaction to him leaving. "I trust I'll see you tommorow Max?" she asked humorously. "Definitely." Max replied, not taking his eyes off Liz. Mrs. Parker smiled secretly and said one last thing before she left. "Goodnight." The couple didn't respond but she didn't take as an offense. She left the Cafe leaving the two lovers alone. |
