| "Liz I need to talk to you..." Mr. Parker said loudly, walking through the back door "....and Max." Mrs. Parker trailed in behind him. Max heard Mr. Parkers voice and his head snapped up. He quickly moved a step away from Liz but never let go of her hand. He couldn't lose the connection, they both needed it right now. Mr. Parker saw Max holding Liz's hand and silently fumed. "Max, the rules still stand." he said with barely restrained anger. "I know sir." Max replied firmly yet he manage to make it sound respectively. Mr. Parker sighed and let it go. He knew that he wouldn't win this battle, so he was willing to make the best of this and it was going to happen on his terms. No matter how hard it was for him to come to terms with this internal disagreement, he didn't want to lose his little girl so this was it. All four of them sat down at the nearest booth Max and Liz sat next to each other and Mr. and Mrs. Parker settled in across from them. Mr. Parker took a deep breath and slowly let it out. "Max, what you two did when you were in Utah was just... I mean..." he trailed off having trouble finding the right words, he had to be careful not to blow this. "... I trusted you because I thought that you were a good man, I actually thought that Liz had made a good choice when you two started going out, I liked you. You were honest, you did well in school and you were raised well. Always polite and respectful. When you and Liz went thru that whole thing where you were broken up, I wanted to kill you because you had hurt my Lizzie but mostly I didn't understand what happened between the two of you and I was sorry that it had happened because I thought that you were the only one who seemed to be good enough for Liz. Yes, there was that incident in the desert but I brushed it away because you were young and you make simple mistakes like that. Bottom line is Max is that you had my trust with my only daughter and you blew it. If you truly love Liz you'll do whatever it takes to earn my trust back. "I'd do anything Mr. Parker, I love your daughter so much." Max said sincerely and quickly smiled at Liz. Liz smiled back. "I would be lying if I said it was going to be easy, I don't trust easily." "I'll do it." Max said with no hesitation. Liz gripped his hand tightly and Mrs. Parker smiled timidly. "Okay then. Um, the first thing I need to do is ask you a few questions. I hope I don't have to ask you to answer them truthfully do I?" "I'll answer everything as honestly as I can." Max shifted in his seat. "Dad...." Liz said warningly. "Relax Liz, I'm just curious about a few things." Mr. Parker turned his attention back to Max. " Alright Max, it's been awhile since we've had a chance to catch up so, Do you drink?" "No." "Smoke?" "No." "Do drugs?" "No." Mr. Parker hesistated and then plowed ahead. "Are you a virgin Max?" Even though he already knew the answer he wanted to test Max and see if he would tell him the truth or not. Instantly Liz yelled "DAD!!!!!!! How can you ask that???", seething. "Jeff, that's not a fair question." Mrs. Parker said with somewhat disbelief even though she already knew the answer as he did. " No. Um it's okay. I can answer that." Max said shakily. "Max, no. It's none of his buisness, he had no right to ask you that." she said, eyes flaring. "Liz, it may not be but I promised to answer every question honestly." He said gently. "I'm all ears." Mr. Parker said anxiously awaiting Max's answer. Mrs. Parker shifted uncomfortably. Liz looked miserable. |
