Family Tree Achievements & Visions

The details about Maulvi Ferozuddin's children are discussed just as they are written in Dastaan-e-Pastaan. Maulvi Sahib has discussed them at that particular moment in time. These descriptions are not in any way complete. Please accept my apologies as many of the qualities and achievements to date could have been overlooked within the content of this section.

ABDUL MAJEED KHAN

He was my grandfather and the eldest of Maulvi Sahib's children. As soon as he got promoted to tenth grade, he left school and started working for the Railway, which is what he had always wanted to do. When he applied for the job, he went to the cheif goods clerk who knew that he was the son of Maulvi Ferozuddin. He told Majeed Khan Sahib that the salary of a goods clerk was Rs. 20 and the simple dress Majeed Khan was wearing was not less than Rs.40 and advised him that the job was unsuitable for him. Majeed Khan really wanted to work there and on his insistence the goods clerk came to see Maulvi Ferozuddin to ask for his permission first. Maulvi Sahib gave him the permission to work. Majeed Khan Sahib undertook an exam and started working as a goods clerk henceforth. After a while, he became the TTI. As this job involved a lot of travelling and long hours, Maulvi Sahib advised him to leave it. Abdul Majeed Khan Sahib was the oldest son and after his mother died, he had a lot more responsibilities on his shoulders and therefore he left the railway job. He got married to Ghulam Maryam who was the daughter of Maulvi Fakir Muhammed, the owner and editor of "Saraj-ul-Akhbar", Jehlum. They had many children, out of which four survived. The eldest daughter, Sultan Jehaan passed her intermediate exam and got married to a well-known doctor, Dr. Abdul Lateef of Peshawar. The second daughter, Musarat Jehan got married to Bashir-ul-Hasan who was the post master general at that time. The sons were called Muhammed Javed Khan and Muhammed Saeed Khan. About him the Maulvi Sahib said: "Majeed Khan ke mizaaj mein bahut taizi hai, lekin dil ke bahut saaf aur kharey hain, kisi ke saath bura nahi kertay."

ABDUL HAMEED KHAN

He was working as the general manager of Ferozsons at that time. He was eighteen years of age when he got married. He had three sons and three daughters. His eldest son, Abdul Ghani Sahib was entrance pass at that time and was quite interested in his work. He got married on 16 May 1942 and had two sons Iqbal Ghani and Afzaal Ghani at that time. His second son ,Abdul Salam Sahib got married in Amritsar to Mir Abdullah's daughter on 15th October 1944. His eldest daughter Mumtaz Begum got married to Hamida Pehlwaan Rustamey Hind and the middle daughter Imtiaz Begum also got married within the same family to Ghulam Sadiq, son of a well known cloth merchant Ghulam Jilaani. From the beginning, Abdul Hameed Sahib worked really well in matters relating to business and management. He was also very regular in Saum-o-Salat. About him, Maulvi Sahib said that from 4 o' clock in the morning to 11 o'clock at night, he kept a balance in both worldy and religious affairs.

ABDUL RASHEED KHAN

He was the superintendent of the Government Printing & Stationary Punjab at that time. He was also involved with the printing press. Maulvi Sahib had always wanted to send Rasheed Sahib abroad so that he could gain more qualifications which he could then use to help Ferozsons prosper. Rasheed Sahib had a choice of colleges in London and Leeds. He chose Leeds and got admitted in a printing college there. He was a very bright and intelligent student. He returned to Pakistan after two years and was offered the position of superintendent in Lucknow. Maulvi Sahib thought it best for Rasheed Khan Sahib to accept the job instead of continuing work with the family firm. Abdul Rasheed got married in 1924 to Naik Akhtar, daughter of Mushtaq Ahmed. He had four daughters Fehmida Khanum, Waheeda Khanum, Hameeda Khanum and Saeeda Khanum. He also had one son, Abdul Haleem Khan Sahib.

Dr Abdul Waheed Khan passed his entrance exam in 1923 with flying colours. He got admitted in Government College, but Maulvi Sahib wanted him to study in Islamia College. On completing his B.A. Honours, he went abroad to study law. He was a very conscientious and bright student. He completed his P.h.d and returned to Pakistan. In 1933, he became a professor in Islamia College, Peshawar. Two years later, he got married to Saeeda Begum, daughter of Khan Bahadur Mir Karim Baksh who was the Director of Education at that time. A few years later, Abdul Waheed Sahib was chosen as a member of the league of nations because of his talent and intelligence. He left for Geneva shortly after that. Kaneez Fatima had always wanted a daughter and it was after many prayers that Mehmooda Begum was born. Mehmooda Begum was only 7 when her mother passed away and she had to shoulder much responsibility from an early age. After she passed her entrance exam, she was married to the local headmaster's son who had just started work as a policeman. His mother, although had insisted upon the marriage, had an about face only after a few months. She did not have an easy relationship with her. Mehmooda Begum gave birth to a little girl who died in infancy.
