+Welcome : Trading : Guides : What Makes A Figure Rare? Ever wondered why a certain figure is worth loads, while models from the same series are worthless? Well, this page teaches you all about Corinthian's CRV scheme which means Collectors Rating Value. The higher the CRV the rarer the product. Corinthian make a calculation which estimates how rare a figure is. The rating accounts for: 1. The total manufactured quantity 2. The total sold to trade customers or to the international distributor of each figure 3. The residual stock levels in trade, with distributor or in stock 4. The level of the demand for the figure or blister pack when it was originally issued 5. The quality of the product and the player 6. The current level of demand for the figure of pack up to 30 days before the issue date of the edition of the World Wide Product List 7. Whether the product is in pristine blister or open stock (i.e. with collector card but no packaging) For example if a figures CRV is 20,000, that figure will be worth usually quite a lot. If it's below 5,000 then it is pretty common. Though, however, the CRV scheme is not always right. Some figures decrease in value through the years, some figures' values rocket up. |
