Always know that the blade of any saw takes space, especially
carbide tipped blades. This means always cut just to the side of the waste portion of your board.
When using a jack plane, or any hand bench plane, always turn the
plane slightly to the side and push straight forward to maximize the
cutting action.
Use featherboards when cutting small things on tablesaw or routing on a routertable. Here is an example of a featherboard.
