Guatemala has very good weather all year round, which is why it is often called "The Land of Eternal Spring". Two seasons, namely, the dry season (from mid August thru April) and the wet season (from May to mid August) can be distinguished.

The climate though, varies according to the elevation, from hot coastal plains to cold mountain slopes. The coastal regions and the northeast are hot throughout the year with an average temperature of 20C (68F) sometimes rising to 37C (99F). Generally, nights are clear all year round. In higher climates, near the center of the country, the rainy season, running from May to September, is characterized by clear skies after abundant rainfall in the afternoons and evenings. Temperatures fall sharply at night.
