Danger and fear breaks out across the nation when war breaks out. And
when the new elected president turns everything over to the UN things get
out of control and freedom is lost. Can the Americans survive? Or will it
be the end of time forever?
‘Let every nation
know, whether it wishes us well of ill, that we shall pay any price, bear
any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to
assure the survival and the success of liberty.' Chapter
1 - Carefree
It was a beautiful summer day
in a small community of Kentucky. Fifteen-year-old Mark Wilbert sat
outside on the porch swing. I gazed out across the farm that was my
father’s and would one day be mine. At the age of fifteen, I was tall
for my age with dark brown hair and green eyes. I looked just like my
father had when he had been a young boy.
All of my life I had lived in Kentucky with my family. I had an
older brother, Peter, who was twenty-one. Peter was in the Marines and I
hardly ever saw him. But we wrote letters to each other often. Life was
wonderful for me. I had everything, a good family, a home, and also I was
a Christian. So life was good and I didn’t think it would ever change
from being carefree. But it would in time.
As I sat looking out across the farm a car pulled up into the
driveway. I ran out into the yard to see who it was. My eleven-year-old
cousin Tim was climbing out of the car, along with his mother. Tim was
rather short with sandy brown hair and blue eyes. He was always smiling
and seemed so happy all of the time.
“Hey Tim!” I yelled smiling.
Even though there was a big age difference between me and Tim, we
got along great and were good friends. But since Tim lived in Atlanta
Georgia in an old plantation house, I only got to see him during the
summer and at Christmas. Tim and his parents were staying two weeks for
the summer so I was glad about that.
“Mom’s in the house if you want to go on in,” I said to
Tim’s mother, Christi. While Christi went in to talk with my mother, Tim
and I stayed outside on the porch.
“So how have you been?” I asked.
“Pretty good I guess. But I’m kind of scared,” Tim said.
“Scared? About what?” I asked turned his complete attention
upon Tim.
“Well just something I saw on TV last night,” Tim said.
“Want to talk about it?” I asked.
“Well it was on this Christian channel. This man was talking
about the upcoming presidential election thing. He said that if Senator
Barry Williams gets in then things could get really bad,” Tim said
worriedly.
I sighed and didn’t answer. I sat in silence for a moment. I had
heard of Barry Williams, everyone had. Ever since he had decided to run
for president against the official president Raeford Lakes, Senator Barry
Williams had been famous. Raeford Lakes had been a wonderful president and
I was hoping he would win the upcoming presidential election. But the
chances of President Raeford winning were very slim. It seemed as if
everyone was voting for Senator Barry Williams. Now that Tim had mentioned
it I grew worried too. Already Senator Barry Williams had said he would
ban the use of guns if he became president. He also said he’d do many
other things that would be bad for America.
“Did it say anything about Barry Williams winning?” I suddenly
asked.
“Well not really but it did say he was ahead in whatever they
call it, palls, no, oh what is it. . .” Tim said trying to remember the
word.
“You mean he’s ahead in the polls?” I questioned.
“Yeah, that’s the word, polls. The man on TV said he was ahead
in the polls,” Tim said.
We both sat in silence for a long time, each thinking almost
exactly the same thing. I wondered what life would be like if Barry
Williams did become president. His father had told him that if Barry
Williams won then it might be the end of the world. You see my parents and
I were devout Christians and we knew the end times were upon us. If Barry
Williams became president then that would only speed up the Lord’s
coming for those who were saved. Many battles and unimaginable things lay
ahead for everyone in America. Chapter
2 - The
Election
I remember the
presidential election as if it were yesterday. I was sitting in the living
room with my parents. We were all gathered around the large radio that set
on the table next to the couch. I listened carefully as the announcement
of who had won the election was to be made known. Fear and anxiety gripped
my heart as I waited. Finally the voice of a man on the radio echoed out.
“Senator Barry Williams has won!” the man cried out excitedly
through the microphone and echoed out of our radio.
My heart seemed to drop when I heard those words. I glanced over at
mother and father. Their faces were grim and my mother’s lips were in a
tight line. I knew they too were very afraid. Soon Barry William’s voice
echoed out through the radio as he addressed the public.
“My fellow Americans all over the world, I am greatly pleased and
honored that you have elected me to be your new president. I can promise
you that things will be much different now than when President Raeford
Lakes was president. I will give you peace and freedom beyond your desire!
Thank you for making me president,” Barry Williams said through the
radio. A sound of applause could be heard after Barry William’s words. Then a commercial advertising a grocery store came on and Dad reached
over and switched the radio off. He sighed and sat back down on the couch.
We all sat in silence for a long time, not saying anything. Everyone lost
in their own thoughts of what might lie ahead.
“Dad, what will happen now,” I asked breaking the silence.
Dad ran his fingers through his black hair and heaved a deep sigh.
“I don’t know son. All we can do is pray,” he said.
Pray, yes, that was what we, everyone, must do. So I did. Not only
did I pray but I used the internet to spread the word to pray for our
nation. A friend of mine, who was a computer whiz, made me my very own
website so I could spread the word more. I wanted the Christians all over
the world to pray, but most of all I wanted those who were not Christians
to be saved. I mean Jesus could come back any day so I wanted everyone to
be ready.
The next day I received a phone call from Tim. He seemed very
frightened.
“Mark, did you hear?” he asked.
“Yes, I heard about the election. Barry Williams won,” I said.
“Oh Mark, what will happen to us?” Tim asked with fear in his
voice.
“I have no idea Tim. But there’s no need to get so worked up
about it. No matter what happens we’ll be okay,” I said trying to
comfort the little guy.
“How will we be safe?” he asked.
“Well, for starters God will protect us. That’s enough to make
me unafraid,” I said.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. I’m sure God will watch over us
all. He will won’t he?” Tim asked.
“I believe he will,” I said.
Meanwhile in Washington D.C. the new president was busy moving in
to his new house. Everyone was going just as he hoped it would. He was now
the president and he had the power to do what he wanted.
“Isn’t it wonderful?” Gloria, Barry William’s wife, said as
they stepped into their new house.
“Yes, it is my dear. This is perfect, everything is going
wonderfully,” Barry said smiling.
“All of your dreams will now be fulfilled my dear,” Gloria said
hooking her arm through Barry’s.
“Yes, my plan to turn this nation around will soon be in affect.
And nothing and no one will stand in my way of doing so,” Barry said.
He walked around his new living quarters and smiled. Clasping his
hands together in front of him, Barry chuckled. Never in his whole life
had he been so pleased. This was the beginning of a new day, a new future,
and a new nation. To Be Continued. . . |
