Matt Grzych - Storm Chasing
Well, early storm season is here after a long and boring winter in Lubbock, TX. I will be conducting field research this Spring from May 10 - June 16 along with a group from the University of Northern Colorado. We will be collecting data in and around supercell rear-flank downdrafts.

*Tornado intercepted near Rotan, TX on 4/05/03. We got an early start leaving LBB at 11:00 knowing that a weak cap could allow convection to fire early. Abilene was our target area, but we only made it to Hamlin for a lunch break (1:00 pm) before a storm fired on the warm front near Snyder. We headed west on road 92 and stopped 6 miles east of Rotan (on farm road 2598) to shoot these photos. A lack of road options kept us about 6 miles south of the tornado.
