Heskey’s career has been a successful one as he has played for teams in England and Australia, with Leicester City, Liverpool, Birmingham City, Wigan, Aston Villa and Newcastle Jets. Born in Leicester, Heskey started his career with Leicester City (154 appearances, 40 goals) after progressing through their youth system, making his first team debut in 1995. He then moved to Liverpool (150 appearances, 39 goals) for a club record 11 million and had a productive time, winning many honours including the FA Cup. Then he moved to Birmingham City (68 appearances, 14 goals) in 2004, but when they got relegated, he made the switch to Wigan (82 appearances, 15 goals) for 5.5 million. He went on to sign for Aston Villa in 2009, but on his release, moved to Newcastle Jets (42 appearances, 10 goals). Along the way, he also played for the English national team. He played for the Under 16, Under 18, Under 21, England B, then going on to play for the full England team (62 appearances, 7 goals).
