Butt block the side panels
I cut the side panels and butt blocked them together, just like the directions say. I drew a baseline on the floor of my garage to insure that both sides would end up identical. Although I followed the measurements exactly, and I wouldn't alter the plans, it makes sense to me that symmetry is more important than exact measurments. If the boat is a little wider, a little longer, or a little higher, the most important thing is that both sides, left and right, are identical.

Here's my daughter, Bernadette!
Not everyone can have a wonderful helper like this!

I think next time I might butt-block the plywood together before I cut. Seem like you could get smoother curves that way. You can't do that if you are going to make the most of your plywood and following the nesting according to the plans, but I can also see how easily you could throw the symmetry of your boat off if you don't get both sides glued together exactly the same.

Again, I drew a baseline and the frame locations on the floor. That made it much easier to keep the sides "true" when assembling, and I found the marks to be very helpful later on...
