Base Set Ratings & Tips
Alakazam:

Rating 4/5

This Pokemon has a great Pokemon Power but a horrible attack. Pokemon like Movie Promo Mewtwo can kill him in 1 hit. He is often used in a Damage Swap deck with cards like Mr. Mime, Chansey, and Scoop Up to stall your opponent and make them deck-out so you can win the game. Be warned, Alakazam decks take a long time to play so if your playing at League or Time Limit Tournaments you may not be able to win fast enough as Damage Swap Decks take a long time unless your opponent uses drawing cards.
Blastoise:

Rating: 4/5

Blastoise is one of the best Water Pokemon because of his Pokemon Power. Using Raindance, his PKMN power, you can be attacking for 60 on the second turn. If you can get a Squirtle, a Blastoise and a Pokemon Breeder with 3 Water energy on your first turn you can win the game almost immidiatly! he also works good with other water cards that take up a lot of energy and also cards like Base Set Gyarados, a card that does 50 for 3 Water Energy. if you can get him and Blastoise on turn 2 you're set!
Charizard;

Rating: 2/5

This card is almost worthless in battle. The only thing its good for is killing high HP Pokemon. Despite the fact that its the most expensive single card to buy, the only thing we can reccomend is keeping it in your binder. Its attack stinks, its power is very bad and its weak to water, a common type because of all the Raindance decks. Little kids think its the best, but if they played the game, they would see that something like Blaine's Arcanine or Dark Charizard is much more better
Chansey

Rating: 4.5/5

This is an amazing card that should be included in almost any deck. Early in the game it can stall to buy you some time with Scrunch and late you can pick up a few prizes with
Double-edge. Due to the fact that it's a colorless Pokemon it can and should be used in almost any deck. 120 HP is amazing for a basic. We use him and so should you!
