“Hey!” she smiled and Pacey took a chair by draping his arm over her shoulder.
“So, what would you like to do today?” he asked.
“Study, we have got test coming up and I need to study!” she laughed.
“Ohhhh come on! It’s Friday the 13th and Halloween is coming up. . lets go rent a bunch of scary movies and then stay up all night because we are too terrified to sleep and then sleep all Saturday morning and afternoon the when it’s really really late we’ll go to that new Haunted House up on Prospected hill! Have you seen that place? It’s this HUGE mansion of place that really is supposed to be haunted! Now come on PLEASE. . PLEASE do this!” Pacey said his eyes were giving her their best puppy dog eyes. She gave in almost too soon.
“Oh Pacey you are going to be the death of me! This can’t be good that I give into you so easy! They say you should play hard to get yet here I am giving into you with you just giving me a grin!” she sighed with laugh.
Pacey smirked, if she knew the power she had over him with just looking at him, he would be following her around like a lost puppy! He truly worshiped the ground she walked on!
“Come on now let’s go get those movies!” Pacey said with the excitement of a child. She stood pushing in her chair and then taking Pacey’s hand they moved through the library.
“Now let’s see . . what movies do we want. . . Scream 1 2 and 3, Urban Legends a MUST, Rosemary’s Baby, Chucky, Nightmare On Elm Street all of them what are there now 4? um let’s see. . “ Pacey said taking movies off the shelf.
“How about "IT"?” Joey asking holding up the Stephen King horror movie.
“Oh, hell yes!” Pacey said laughing taking that and the other movies to the counter. After the movies were paid for they started to Pacey’s car and from there it was to his apartment about 2 blocks away from their college NYU.
“So Pacey, did you stock up on all the major party necessities?” Joey asked with a smile as she locked arms with Pacey.
“Of course. Ya know just the basics pop corn, pop, tons and tons of candy, 5 bags of cotton candy, about 3 bags of Doritos and plenty of fattening cheese, oh and I got Mountain Dew, our favorite! So it is pretty safe to say that we will riding on a sugar and adrenaline high well into the morning!” Pacey said opening the door to his 1964 ½ Mustang, is other pride in joy.
She climbed in and he took the drivers side and they started to the apartment.
“So Pacey tell me more about this haunted house!” she said with a smile.
“Well it’s cool, um you tell them a week in advance and they rig the house to give you the ultimate scare! They have you fill out this little form thingy which they ask you about your fears and stuff and they rig it to give you the scare of your life! And what’s cool about it is that it really wasn’t that expensive! Pacey said with a smile.
“Pacey you just asked me to go today, and you said that you had to book a week in advance. . .“ she knowing that he knew just how to play her and that he had no doubts that she was going to go with him.
“Well um. . sorry?” he offered. She laughed.
“That’s all right, I am excited to be going!” she laughed. He smiled gently.
“Okay we be here!” he laughed and they took the stairs to his apartment.
They entered and Joey began to round up the other things they needed to have a movie thon. She was at his place so often and him at her apartment that they felt like they were home no matter where they were! Each had a key to others apartment and they even had a drawer in each other’s dressers where a change of clothes was kept. They were in perfect harmony with each other. She grabbed Pacey’s big feather quilt off of his bed and laid it on the floor and pilled high pillows using the coffee table as their back support. She brought out another blanket and laid it down for them to cover up with. Pacey came into the living room with a big bowl of home made popcorn and 2 6 packs of pop the other stuff had all ready been sat around on the coffee table. As they were getting ready to settle into the movie they both jumped and said at the same time, “Lock the door”. They died laughing.
Though Pacey wasn’t that scared of scary movies he was a little scared of those people who were obsessed with directors, say Spielberg, and those crazy people who had a whole night set a side every week to watch movies.
Those people scared him I mean they are so obsessed that who knows what they could do!
They locked the door then snuggled in together under the blanket and began to watch IT.
For both that movie was the scariest ever made!
The movie was now to the part when Pennywise was about to “eat” Georgie.
“Wanna a balloon Georgie?” sang Pacey after Joey screamed and threw herself into Pacey’s arms.
“Oh sometimes I hate you Pacey Witter!” she said laughing as she playfully pounded her first into his chest.
“Aww you hate me huh? Well that’s just fine you remember that when Pennywise offers you a balloon then what will you do?” he said trying to seem angry but was unsuccessful.
They watched movies clear into the 4:00 am hour and it was only after Urban Legends ended that they fell into what was for Joey a terror filled sleep.
“Pacey. . where are we going?” Joey laughed as she walked blind folded through some sort of wilderness area.
“Shh now Joey we are just about there!” Pacey said seductively into her ear. His voice made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up and a warm feeling come over her. “Here we are,” he said softly and untied the blindfold.
She was now standing in the sight of the most beautiful waterfall, the crystal blue water flooded down into the deep pool beneath a bubbly mist was over every thing. She turned to see Pacey but as she did the landscape suddenly changed and instead of the lush trees that had before rose into the sky barren twig like trees took their place and the once lush green grass was now dry and brown and the water fall now ran with blood instead of water. She spun around trying to digest her surroundings.
“Pacey! Pacey!” she cried out in terror. She was met with a horrific laugh that seemed to come from the sky, and then a figure began to manifest right before her eyes.
She recoiled in horror as a clown appeared, and in his hand he held a balloon, and inside that balloon was Pacey. Pacey stood inside that balloon helpless and terrified.
“Wanna a balloon JOEY!” the clown said his voice a growl. Joey began to cry. “Here have your beloved Pacey,” the clown said offering her the balloon. She took and quickly popped it, as she did the balloon started to over run with blood and the lullaby that her mother played in her music box started to play and there in that blood filled balloon was an image of Pacey looked so scared and so astonished, she had just killed her true love! She screamed in pain and fell to her knees and there she sobbed in pain as she realized what she had done. That sickening laughter filled the air and then... Joey woke up.
As Joey’s eyes opened she had to try and remember where she was. She was in Pacey’s apartment, safely in his arms. She had broken out in a cold sweat and now she carefully detangled herself from his arms and went to the bathroom and took a hot shower trying to shake that horrible feeling that still remained from her nightmare.
“Get a hold of yourself Potter! Come on this is stupid it was just a stupid nightmare brought on by too much caffeine! Calm down!” she said as the water came down around her. She finally stepped out of the shower and dressed in her jeans and Pacey’s black button up long sleeve shirt.
As she went into the kitchen she checked the time.
4:30 pm the clock read.
She laughed this was without a doubt the latest she had ever slept in! She rolled up the sleeves of her shirt and went about making coffee. Just as she poured herself a cup of steaming coffee Pacey entered yawning and stretching.
“The best part of waking up is Joey in your kitchen!” sang Pacey in a horrible rendition of the Folgers song.
“Not another word tell you get rid of that morning breath Witter!” laughed Joey as she poured him a cup of coffee. He took a sip then said
“Thy wish is my command!” Pacey laughed and went to the bathroom. As Joey sat at the table the days paper in hand she laughed quietly to herself as the shower came on.
“Aw my little comedian!” she said and began to read the local news.
Just as she was about to flip to next article Pacey emerged from the steam filled bathroom now fully washed and minty breath was in place of the morning breath, he wore a simple white t-shirt a pair of black jeans and a black belt yet to Joey he looked amazing. He came over behind her and took his cup from the counter and then as he sat it on the table he went to Joey rubbing her shoulders
“Hey you okay Jo, you seem a little tense” he said knowing her all too well.
“Just a bad dream no big deal!” she smiled and turned bidding him to kiss her, he obliged without any hesitation.
“So... excited about tonight?” he asked sitting down across from her.
“Yeah, a little scared too, though.” she said honestly her paper now forgotten.
“Okay, now my love, I say we go out have dinner/lunch/breakfast then head out to the haunted house,” Pacey after their kiss ended.
“Sounds good!” she smiled. “Let me just get my shoes and I’m ready to go” she said and headed for the living room where her tennis shoes were. She quickly put them on and tied them then called, “Okay ready!”
Pacey sat his cup down on the newspaper that sat on the table and didn’t notice the article headline which read “Teens disappear after a visit the Haunted Mansion on Prospect Hill”...
