A fire broke out and razed the boiling house, the storehouse, and the manager’s residence to the ground. In 1875 Loney & Co. was dissolved. The estate was acquired by one of the partners, Jose Coscolluela, who renamed it “Hacienda Ildefonso” after his eldest son. Sometime later, the hacienda was mortgaged to Aniceto Lacson who renamed it “Maria del Rosario,” but on May 29, 1893, it was redeemed by one of the former owners, Frederich Luchinger, for Ps40, 000.00. Finally, Luchinger sold the property back to Anecito Lacson whose descendants still own the property today. Nicholas Loney died on April 22, 1869 at the age of 43.

At the time when the Mascuñana brothers and a sister arrived in Negros, Ramon Mascuñana explored and finally settled in a small thriving coastal community that is the Cadiz City site today.
