It was her who gave Jose Rizal her personal copy of Spanish bible while Rizal
was imprisoned in Fort Santiago. Her bible was among the items cherished
by Rizal and was included in his memorabilia at the Fort Santiago museum.
Incidentally,
Don Ricardo and Doņa
Paz owned a large beautiful ancestral house on Padre
Faura, Paco, Metro Manila that was featured in the book The
Filipino Heritage: A Making of the Nation, vol. 10,
(1977).
Doņa Maria Paz was a patroness of arts and some of her
personal collections of Oriental ceramics were either donated or presently
housed in the Ayala Museum, Makati, Metro Manila.
From
the original three Mascuņana brothers and sister brought forth six generations
of descendants of the Mascuņana scattered today all over the country and
abroad.
