The Lone Ranger
Ramblin Rose
Jim sat behind a big desk waiting for a phone call to come through.
He buzzed his assistant and said, “Carol, still no word from Simon Banks?”
“No, sir. No phone calls yet. Would you like me to place another call to
his office?” Carol asked sweetly.
“No, I’ll try running by the precinct later on tonight and see if I can catch
him. Thank you.” Jim put his head in his hands to try to stop the headache.
Carol knocked at his door and said, “Mr. Ellison, could I talk to you please?”
“Come on in.”
“Mr. Ellison, I’m wondering why you have so many cases from the police department.
Is there something I should maybe know? I could file things differently
or something.” Carol said smiling at Jim.
“How many times have I asked you to call me Jim, Carol?”
“Carol is your middle name? Wow, what are the chances of that?” Carol
said laughing.
“Smart ass. Okay, in answer to your question. Simon Banks and
I are old friends. He also knows I don’t want to be a cop and answer
to the brass. He knows that I can do the job if given the chance, so
that’s what I do. Unsolved cases are my specialty.”
“Jim, thanks for telling me. I was wondering what the deal was. Oh
before I leave today, did you see about a new assistant for the next month?”
“Oh shit. I forgot. I’ll take care of it. Don’t worry about
it.” Jim said getting angry for not taking care of it. Carol knew he wasn’t
angry with her.
“Jim, you told me you had it covered or I would have helped. I have a friend
that’s looking for extra work if you can work around his hours. He’s
great with computers and he has the patience of a saint. Want me to call
him?”
“Who is he, Carol?”
“He’s a student/TA at Rainer. He also works over at the bar across
the street.”
“You’re kidding. I stop in there all the time. Maybe I know him.”
“Jim, I seriously don’t think you would have noticed him. He’s so ‘not’
cop or Private Investigator.”
“Wait a minute, Carol, are you saying I would snub him just because he’s
not just like me?”
“Well, maybe not. But let's just say he’s not your every day bartender
or office assistant.”
“Call him, tell him what I pay and offer him a little more if he’ll give
up the bar job. Oh, stop giving me the look, I’ll give you a bonus.”
“I’ll call him now. Would you please sign all of those papers that
are sitting on your desk before I leave?”
“Yes, Mom. I’ll do it now.” Jim said laughing as he sat down to sign
away his rights to Carol.
About an hour later, Carol knocked and walked in and said, “Okay, boss.
You have an assistant that will start in three days. He’ll give up
his job then at the bar. His name's Blair Sandburg and this is his home address
and phone number at home, at Rainer and at the bar.”
“Thank you so much, Carol. You’re a lifesaver. What am I going
to do for a month without you?”
“Well, I’ll probably be replaced with Blair when I get back. He’s good,
Jim. You’ll like him. He’s really smart too, so if you want to
work something out, use him as your sounding board.”
“Thanks again, Carol.”
“See you in the morning, right?”
“Yes, Jim. I’m not leaving quite yet.” Carol said laughing as she left
his office. Jim was a wonderful PI, but a terrible office manager.
Blair would do a great job; she could see him bossing Jim around now.
This made her smile and feel not so bad about leaving her boss in the middle
of an important case. Her family had to come first. Her dad was ill
and she’d be spending time with him. Carol hoped to get him back on
his feet, so he could move back to Cascade.
Jim sat signing papers until they were all finished. He heard Carol
leave and get into her car. Once she left, he decided he would check
the person out that was going to work in his office. He put all of his papers
in his desk for tomorrow and locked up his office. Once he saw that
everything was in order, he locked up the main part of the office and walked
across the street to check out his new assistant.
Walking into Clancy’s Bar, he expected a lot of smoke, but he was pleasantly
surprised. No one seemed to be smoking that evening. He looked
at the bartender and saw two men. One was tall and skinny, 40 years
old and didn’t remind Jim of a student at all. The other man was about 30,
tall good-looking and in decent shape. Jim wondered why he cared if
the guy was in good shape or not.
He figured that the 30 year old must be Sandburg. He sat down at a
table, listened to the music, and waited for the waiter to take his order.
The man that was taking his order was very cute. Around 27 or so, curly
brown hair, bright blue eyes and very compact body. Ellison, you’re
doing it again. Why are you suddenly checking guys out in your spare
time? I think you really need a date.
Jim ordered a beer and listened to the blues singer. She was excellent.
Jim didn’t want to leave. After about four beers, he stood up and fell
back into his chair. The waiter walked over and said, “Can I help you
home? I’ll get you a cab.”
“I have my keys if you want to drive me. You might want to spend the night.”
Jim couldn’t believe those words came out of his mouth. The guy grabbed
up Jim’s keys and told everyone goodnight and they walked out to the truck.
“Fancy truck, I’m glad you’re not driving it home and wrapping it around
a pole or something.”
“Thanks.” Jim said and then slid up against Blair’s shoulder and fell asleep.
The man pulled the car over and took Jim’s wallet out to see where he lived.
Once he had the address, he drove on. He parked in the lot, woke Jim
up, and helped him up the stairs. Jim was beginning to wake up finally.
When the man opened the door, Jim kissed him hard. The man could feel
the longing and need in that kiss. Therefore, he kissed him back, because
he needed someone almost as badly as this man did.
They made their way up to the bedroom upstairs. The man looked around
and could see that Jim must have just moved in. His place looked like
it had never been used for anything. Getting upstairs, Jim was undressing
the man quickly and himself at the same time. Both naked, they slid
into the bed.
“I’ve never been with a man before.” Jim said. Then he kissed the man again.
“My name's Blair.” The man said quietly as he kissed Jim back.
“Hey, I want you to fuck me so bad.”
“Jim, maybe we should wait until you're sober. What do you think?”
“Hey, Chief, if you don’t want to fuck me, I can get anyone to do it.” Jim
started to get up out of his bed. Blair pulled him back down and said,
“No, I’ll make love with you if that’s what you really want.”
“For some reason, I’m totally relaxed with you. I don’t know why.”
Jim said.
Blair had only gone in the back way with a woman once, so he really wasn’t
too keen on doing this right now. He’d prefer to have Jim sober.
Nevertheless, he could tell that Jim needed someone right then. May
as well be him.
“You have any lube and condoms?” Blair whispered.
“Yeah, in the drawer in the night stand.” Jim said just as softly.
Blair began to kiss Jim and Jim was very turned on. He couldn’t understand
why Jim was so turned on if he’d never been with a guy before. As Jim’s
cock started poking into Blair he realized he didn’t much care either.
He was going to make it good for him.
“Jim, I’m going to loosen you up first. It’ll feel weird at first,
but it gets better. If at anytime you want to stop, just tell me, okay?”
“Just do it, Chief.” Jim growled.
“No, we have to do it right or I’ll leave right now.” Blair started working
his way down to Jim’s cock and Jim was thrashing around and said, “Chief,
if you keep this up, I’m going to come before we even get started.”
“That might not be a bad idea, Jim. I want you to come for me and then
you can relax a little bit. You’ll be hard again in no time, I promise.”
He engulfed Jim’s cock with his warm mouth and Jim made an odd sound and
tried to push up, but Blair was holding Jim’s hips down. Blair had
some lube on his finger so he started playing around Jim’s puckered opening
and Jim was moaning louder by this time. Blair slid a finger into Jim
and Jim about came off the bed, but Blair held him down. “Oh god, oh
god, oh god.” Jim was calling out. Blair sucked a few times as he pushed
his finger all the way into Jim. Once he got his finger in, he found
the spot that he’d heard guys at the bar talk about. Rubbing the prostate,
Jim came into Blair’s mouth without any warning at all.
Blair stayed in the position he was in. He was hurting he was so hard,
but he wanted Jim to come with him this next time. After Jim had rested a
few moments, Blair started rubbing around his hole again. Jim started
moaning again. If nothing else, Jim was the most fucking responsive
person Blair had ever been with. Blair leaned into Jim, kissed him,
and said, “On your hands and knee’s.”
There was no argument, Jim got up and had his ass in the air and his head
down on two pillows, trying to calm down. Blair could see how hard
he was again. Jesus, he has stamina like no one I’ve ever seen,
Blair was thinking as he continued to prepare Jim.
Once Jim was nice and loose, Blair said, “Jim, I’m going to start to push
in, if it’s too much you tell me and we’ll stop. Right?”
“Just fuck me.” Jim growled.
Blair pushed into Jim, not too far, just enough to get Jim’s attention.
Jim started to lose his hard on, and was breathing shallow. “Jim, are
you all right?”
“I’m fine, just fuck me. Please?” The second part of this plea was said so
soft that Blair almost didn’t hear it. He started pushing into Jim
more. He got in almost all the way, and Jim was starting to get hard
again. Things were looking up.
Blair started pounding into Jim when he realized that Jim could take it.
Jim was enjoying it a great deal. Before long Blair was telling Jim,
he couldn’t hold on for too much longer. Jim pushed his ass back harder
onto Blair’s cock, Blair hit his prostate, and Jim came screaming Blair.
Blair followed suit not long after.
Getting his second wind, he ran and got some cloths to clean them up with
and then he curled into Jim’s arms and started to go to sleep. Before
he could fall asleep, Jim asked, “I’ll never see you again, will I?” It was
asked with such a note of sadness that Blair wanted to turn on a light and
tell him he was wrong. He probably wasn’t. Blair wasn’t known
for long commitments. So he said the best he could. “I’d like
to see you again sometime. Do you mind if I sleep here tonight?”
“No, I’d like it if you slept here. It’s been a long time since I’ve
had sex. This was great. Thank you very much.” Then Jim kissed
Blair on the forehead and fell asleep. It about broke Blair’s heart.
He snuggled in closer to this big man who was a lot damn deeper than he appeared.
That was the last thing he remembered.
When Blair awoke the next morning he freaked finding himself still in Jim’s
bed. What in the hell had he been thinking? He got out of bed
and found his clothing and got out of Jim’s apartment as fast as he could.
Blair wanted to see Jim again, but he almost wanted it to be on Jim’s terms,
not his. Blair slipped a paper underneath the closed door once he was
in the hallway giving him his number and name. He asked him to call
him if he wanted to see him again.
Jim woke to a dull ache in his ass and couldn’t imagine what in the hell
he’d done to cause that. Then his memory slammed into gear and it was
Jim’s turn to freak out. Oh, Jesus, Ellison. What in the fuck
did you do now? You slept with a stranger. You’re now not only
a slut but you’re a fag slut. Jim got up, got in the shower, and
scrubbed himself until he was almost raw. Fuck…
Arriving at the office, Carol had everything ready for his day and coffee
made. “Oh, someone didn’t sleep last night. Did you get lucky?”
“Why do you say that?” Jim said defensively.
“I was joking, Jim. Calm down. You have an appointment with Mr. Sandburg
in a short time. Are you ready for me to leave?”
“Yeah, Carol, everything will be fine. I don’t want you to worry about
anything.”
“Okay, well just rest up, read the paper work I have on your desk for today
and I’ll buzz you when Mr. Sandburg gets here.”
“Thank you, Carol.” Jim took his coffee into his office and sat down at his
desk. Oh god, what in the hell am I supposed to do now. You
let a man fuck you, Ellison.
Carol buzzed Jim’s phone and said, “Jim, Mr. Sandburg is here for his 9:00
appointment. Should I send him in?”
“Yes, please do. Thank you, Carol.”
The door opened and in walked the man from the night before and both men
avoided each other’s eyes. “Sit down, Mr. Sandburg.” Jim managed to
say before his throat felt like it was closing. Blair walked over and
sat down and just stared at Jim and didn’t know what to say.
As Carol shut the door, Jim turned to Blair and said, “I’m sorry for what
happened last night. I don’t normally get drunk. In fact, I don’t
drink much at all. I can’t hold my liquor and now you know why.”
“Hey, it shouldn’t interfere with our work here. I’m good at running
an office and I can start tomorrow. If you still want me to.” Blair said,
still not looking at Jim.
Jim stood in front of Blair and said, “Hi, I’m Jim Ellison. It’s nice
to meet you.” He stuck his hand out for Blair to shake. Blair shook
it and said, “It’s very nice to meet you, Jim. I’m Blair, Blair Sandburg.”
“I really would like you to start tomorrow. Carol could show you the
ropes and we could start over again.” Jim said. “Again, I apologize for last
night.”
“Jim, stop saying you’re sorry. That makes me feel worse. It’s
not like I didn’t enjoy it.”
Totally ignoring his remark, Jim said, “Did Carol tell you how much you’ll
be making here?”
“Yeah, she told me about the pay. Did she tell you that I have to have
some time off for school?”
“Yes, she said you’re a teaching assistant. What are you majoring in?”
Jim asked trying to get them as far away from sex as he could take them.
“I’m an anthropology student. Some day, when we have more time, I’ll
tell you about what I’ve been studying all this time.”
“Okay, Sandburg, I’ll see you in the morning then.” Jim got up and started
walking towards the door. He turned around and saw Blair writing down
a couple of things and Jim asked, “What are you doing?”
“Jim, I don’t know about you. I really enjoyed last night and if you’d
like to see me again, I’d like it. This is my home number and my work
number at the university. Call me sometime when we aren’t working, okay?”
“Sure.” Jim said offhandedly. Blair looked sadly at Jim when he realized
he was being blown off. “I’ve never been with a man before, I just
thought I’d tell you that. I’m a little confused right now.” Blair
said as he walked out the door.
Jim watched him walk to the parking lot. He got up and went out to
the lot and said, “Sandburg, want to have dinner tonight at my place?”
“Jim, I could tell you didn’t want to do that. It’s okay.” Blair said starting
to get into his car.
Jim stopped him and said, “I really want you to come. I didn’t say
we were going to fuck, I askedif you'd like to have dinner.”
“Okay, I’ll be there at 7:00.” Blair said smiling, and starting his car up.
Jim loved that smile. “I’ll see you tonight.” Jim called out as Blair
drove out of the parking lot.
When he went back in to the office, Carol looked at him strangely and he
said, “What?”
“Oh shit, you fucked Blair?” Carol asked.
“What the hell are you talking about, Carol? I’m not into guys.
I can honestly say I didn’t fuck him.” Jim said in all honesty.
“Oh my god, Blair fucked him.” Carol said to herself except that Jim heard
it. He turned around and said, “Why would you think that?”
“Why would I think what, Jim?”
“Why would you think he fucked me?”
“Jim, how could you hear that? I barely heard it myself. It wasn’t
even a whisper.” Carol said almost in a panic.
“Calm down, Carol, and answer me. Why do you think that?”
“Because you looked at him differently than you look at anyone else.
You looked at him like you would if there was a gorgeous woman in the room.
Not to mention the fact that you followed him out to the parking lot.
I’d be willing to bet money that you asked him out for dinner, didn’t you?”
“Yes, I did. I did sleep with him last night. I have no idea
why. I’m not into guys but boy that blows that theory. I really
don’t even want to go there right now.” Jim said confused.
Patting Jim on the back, Carol said, “Don’t worry, Jim. Things will
get better. You’ll figure it out and realize that you might have found
a new love.”
“Carol, I have no time for love especially not with a guy. That would
be too hard to explain to the few friends I have.
“Jim, aren’t you tired of being The Lone Ranger?”
“So I choose a semi-short, Jewish man?”
“Why not? If you like him and he likes you, why not?”
“I do like him. I really don’t want to get serious about anyone but
he might be fun.”
“Ellison, don’t even think about just using him, do you understand?” Carol
said angrily.
“Carol, I was talking about having a friend to do things with. Not sleeping
with.”
“Before I forget, Jim, Simon Banks is coming over and taking you to lunch
today. He has some things to tell you about the latest case.”
“Good, we’re getting nowhere on that. I hate when I can’t figure things
out.”
“Well, I’ll leave you to your work. There are some notes on your desk
so please don’t ignore them.” Carol said sternly as she walked to her desk.
“Thanks, Carol.” Jim called out.
“You’re very welcome.”
Jim saw a pile of little post-it’s from Carol’s desk. First one had
Jim’s dad’s number on it and his name. “Call Dad for Birthday.
Don’t forget.” Jim picked the phone up and dialed his Dad’s number
and heard the same voice saying, “Ellison.”
“Happy Birthday, Dad. What do you have planned for tonight?”
“Nothing, Jimmy, I was hoping that my sons might want to take me out of something.”
“Well, you’re in luck. I’ll call and make reservations at the Italian
Restaurant that you love so much. Will that be all right, Dad?”
“That would be great, Jimmy. Thank you, son.”
“Well, I have to get back to work, Dad. I’ll pick you up about 7:00.
Goodbye, Dad.” Jim hung up the phone and started making all of the calls
that were piled on his desk. Once he was finished he started doing
paperwork until he started studying the files on the latest case before he
went to lunch with Simon. By the time Simon got there, Jim was all
set for him.
“Hey, Simon. Where are we going for lunch?” Jim asked.
“I’m thinking something light because I have a date tonight.” Jim remembered
he had a date with Sandburg, so he needed to call him when he got back to
the office.
“Sounds good to me, Simon. We really need to figure out something about this
case. It’s pissing me off.”
“Tell me about it. We have everyone working on it and no one can come
up with a thing.”
“Would you mind if I went to the crime scenes?”
“No, I’m sure the parents of the children would be happy to see anything
new being done.”
“How many are missing now?” Jim asked while looking at the file.
“Six. Not one lead, not one clue as to where we should even start looking.”
“I’m going to have someone working with me tomorrow, I’d like to bring him
so he can get the feel of what I do.”
“What happened to Carol?” Simon asked.
“She’s got a month off to help her dad get over some things in his life.
Let me call her and check in.”
“I hope that he’s going to be all right. Remind me when we get back
to give her my best if she’s still there anyhow. She’s great, Jim.”
“Yeah, I totally agree.”
They continued talking about the case and were getting nowhere but at the
same time, they were covering some ground that hadn’t been covered thus far,
so this was helping. By the time they got back to the office, it was
after 5:30. Simon left and Jim made sure that Carol had locked everything
up tight. On his way home he called the restaurant and made the reservations.
They took them late only because Jim was such a good customer. Once
home, he got in the shower and washed away the day and got dressed in nice
clothes for his dad’s birthday.
As he walked out of the loft he wondered what he forgot. Looking at
his watch, it didn’t matter because he was late as it was. He needed
to get over to his dad’s house and pick his dad up. As he drove up, his dad
walked out to the truck and got in. “Hey, Dad. Happy Birthday.
You look great.”
“Thanks, Jimmy. I can’t wait to get there. I tried to call Steven
but I don’t know if he got my message.”
“Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m starving.” Jim said as he drove off
in the direction of the restaurant. He was glad that he and his dad
were back in each other’s lives. He wished that Steven had more to
do with the two of them. Hopefully, that might come in time.
When they pulled up they saw Steven waiting outside. Jim smiled when
he saw him but William beamed. He would be surrounded by his two sons
tonight and he was very happy about it.
As Jim drove home from his dad’s house, he was tired, but felt good about
getting all of the things out of the way that he was supposed to. They had
all had a great time at the dinner for his dad. It was great being
with his dad and Steven again. He hadn’t seen either of them in awhile.
The rain was coming down even harder now and he slowed down, as he really
didn’t want to end a nice evening running into someone. Driving up
to the loft, Jim remembered that he had forgotten to call Blair Sandburg
and tell him that he wouldn’t be home. Fuck… Ellison, you
can call and explain tomorrow, stop worrying about it. It’s not like
he’s your date or something. Actually, I think he was your date, you
asshole.
When Jim drove up in front of the loft he saw someone sitting on the ground
in front of the front door to his building. Jim had never seen a bum
this far off their beat. He’d call it in when he got inside.
He started walking up to the loft and as he got nearer he could hear soft
crying. It was the type of crying that broke your heart when hearing
it and Jim was fucking grateful that he didn’t have to see this person.
He knew it was a man from the sound of the sobbing. As Jim got up close
to the man, he leaned down and said, “Hey, buddy, can I help you?”
Blair lifted his head up and Jim about died. “Sandburg, what the hell's
going on? Why are you sitting out here on the cement in the rain?”
“You weren’t here. I didn’t have anywhere else to go. My place
blew up tonight and it even got my car. The cops brought me here because
I told them I had a friend that lived here. I thought we were going to meet
for dinner and I was hoping that you’d let me clean myself up before I had
to go back out on the street.” This entire time Jim noticed that Blair
was sobbing and shivering.
Jim leaned over, helped Blair up and said, “Come on. We’ll get you
upstairs to warm up and get clean.” Jim had to almost carry Blair into the
building. Blair seemed very weak. Jim wondered what in the hell
happened. He didn’t really have the heart to ask him about it right
now. He’d ask in the morning when they were both rested. When they
got into the elevator Blair turned into Jim and sobbed his heart out.
“Man, I’m so sorry, Jim. I didn’t have anywhere else to go.”
“Nothing to be sorry about, Sandburg. You needed somewhere to go, might
as well have been here. Sorry I wasn’t here. It was my Dad’s
birthday. I meant to call but I forgot.”
Still sniffling, Blair said, “If I would have stayed home I’d have been killed.
The only reason I’m alive is because I was leaving to come over here.”
“Well, I’m glad you’re all right. You are all right, correct?” Jim
asked looking down at the very wet and smelly man.
When they stepped off the elevator Blair pulled away from Jim as if he was
afraid of what someone was to think or say. Jim pulled Blair back into the
safe haven of his arms, walked to his door and opened it. Blair was
shaking badly and Jim knew he needed to get him warmed up. As soon as they
walked into the loft, Jim started pulling Blair’s clothing off. It
smelled of smoke and some type of bomb residue. Ellison, you have
a lot to make up for here. “Come on, Chief. Let's get you
into the shower and warmed up. I’ll get some sweats you can wear until
tomorrow.”
“Do you think I could soak in a hot tub instead? I’m so fucking cold, Jim.”
“Yeah, a tub would be good, too. Come on, let’s get you in there.”
Jim said as he led Blair into the bathroom. Jim got the water going so it
could fill up a ways before Blair sat in it. Stripping Blair of his
clothing wasn’t doing anything for either of them, mostly because Blair was
still crying softly. Blair finally stood there naked as the tub was being
filled. Jim checked the water and found it to be safe and let Blair
sit down in the tub.
“I’m really sorry, Jim. I’ll be out of here as soon as I warm up.”
Blair said trying to keep from the crying starting up again.
“Chief, would you like some coffee? Nice and hot? Hot chocolate?
What would you like?”
“Do you have decaf? I’d love some coffee, thanks.” Blair said as he slid
into the warm water. “I’ll be right back, Chief, with some coffee and
some dry clothes.”
While he was up getting the sweats, underwear, socks and tee shirt, Jim heard
Blair start crying again. Then he heard him start talking so softly
Jim barely heard.
“You’re such a fucking loser, Sandburg. You finally find someone who
you really like and then this happens. He’ll never want you around
him again. He’ll hate you just like everyone else ends up hating you.
What's with all of this crying? I’m sure that impresses the hell out
of him. Get a grip. Oh Jesus, I lost everything... I don’t know
what to do.”
Jim’s heart about broke as he listened to this man. Jim realized that
he was falling in love and this was only their second time of being around
each other. It didn’t matter. Jim was in love. Jesus, he
couldn’t stand the idea of him having to cry anymore. It was breaking
big Jim Ellison in two.
Knocking on the bathroom door, Blair said, “It’s your bathroom, man.
You don’t have to knock.”
“Yeah, I do. It might be my bathroom, but you’re my guest and I’m not
that rude. Okay, sit up straight so I can get your hair shampooed and get
you in bed.”
“Jim, that’s okay. If I could just borrow some clothes I could take
off.”
“You want to sit up or want me to wash it like this?” Jim asked ignoring
Blair.
Sitting up, Blair allowed Jim to wash his hair and every now and then Jim
could feel the hitches in Blair’s breathing, when Blair stopped himself from
crying. Once he got his hair all cleaned, rinsed and conditioned, Jim
got him out of the tub. He rubbed Blair dry and helped him get into the clothes
that Jim had picked out. He got the only things that he had that would
fit Blair.
As they walked out of the bathroom, Blair said, “Jim, could I borrow a coat
until tomorrow?”
“No, you’re staying here. Don’t argue. I hate to argue before
bed. It pisses me off and I can’t sleep well then.”
“The sofa looks pretty comfy. Could I get a blanket?”
“Get your ass upstairs, Sandburg. You know I want you up there so just
go.” Jim said smiling. Blair didn’t argue but he wasn’t exactly running
up those stairs either.
Jim stripped out of his clothes and said, “I’ll be right back.” Walking downstairs,
he went into the bathroom and got himself ready for bed. Looking in
the mirror, he thought, Ellison, what the hell do you think you’re doing?
He’s a man. He’s going to work for you. He’s too young for you.
He’s a man. Then he smiled at himself and walked out of the room.
He walked up the stairs with that same smile on his face and got into bed.
Blair was all the way over on one side of the bed, curled up in a ball.
Jim pulled him into his arms and said, “Hey. Relax and sleep.
We’ll figure this all out tomorrow. Blair went into his arms and held
on for dear life. Jim could feel the shaking inside Blair’s body.
He knew that he was a man on the verge of losing it. Jim had to help
him. He’d do something to take his mind off it.
Jim lifted Blair’s face and kissed his lips. Blair started crying again
and said, “Man, why are you doing this? You don’t even like me.”
“You don’t know if I fucking like you or not. So hush. I’d rather kiss
then argue. How about you?”
Jim leaned down and kissed him again. This time Blair kissed him back.
Jim grabbed a tissue and had Blair wipe his eyes and his nose. Then
Jim got busy warming Blair up. He started kissing him everywhere.
Blair was warming up all right. Whether Blair liked it or not he was
hard as a rock. “Jim, I think we should think about this. I think
maybe you’re just feeling sorry for me right now.”
Jim took Blair’s hand, put it over his hard on and said, “Does this feel
like I’m feeling sorry for you? I don’t think so.”
Jim proceeded to get them both naked and climbed on top of Blair. He
rubbed their erections together until Blair was moaning loudly. “It feels
good doesn’t it, Blair?”
“Yes.” Blair said quickly. He put his hand on Jim’s ass and pushed
so that there was more friction. Then he started stroking Jim’s crevice
until Jim was moaning as loudly as Blair had been. “Blair, can I fuck
you?” Jim asked timidly.
“Oh yeah. I’d love to be fucked by you.” Blair said as he flipped over
on his stomach. Jim got the lube out and a condom and got busy preparing
Blair the same way he’d done with Jim the night before. Once Blair
was ready Jim started pushing in, saying, “If this hurts, you tell me.”
“Fuck me, Jim.” Blair screamed out and Jim almost pushed all the way in before
he caught himself and slowed down. “Don’t do that, Chief. You’re
pushing me to do something that might hurt you. I don’t ever want to hurt
you.”
They began a rhythm between the two of them that was like music. Not
only beautiful to watch, but to hear. The moaning grew until Jim knew
that Blair was extremely close and he started hitting Blair’s prostate repeatedly.
He felt Blair’s orgasm before Blair did. He wondered if he’d be able
to ever tell Blair this. It was weird, but it was a truly cool kind
of weird tonight. As Blair came he screamed out Jim’s name. Jim
followed soon after saying softly “Blair.”
Once things calmed down, Jim pulled slowly out, not wanting to, but needing
to clean them up. He went down and got the cloths to clean them with.
Remember to get some wipes while you’re at the store, Ellison. You’re
going to need them. This was the best time you’ve ever had.
He went up and cleaned Blair up and then himself. He kissed Blair and
said, “I love you, Chief. I know it’s kind of soon, but I feel something
for you that I’ve never felt for anyone.”
“It’ll pass, Jim.” Blair said sadly and then went into Jim’s arms and fell
asleep. As soon as Blair had been sleeping for about an hour, Jim got
up, pulled some clothes on and went downstairs in the dark loft to think.
Sometimes he did some of his best thinking in the dark, while alone.
After about two hours of nothing but thinking, Jim went back upstairs to
try to sleep. He’d discuss this with Blair tomorrow. In fact,
Jim decided that he’d go and buy Blair some new clothing tomorrow morning.
Carol could take over the office for a short time before she left.
Jim got his shoes and his socks on and decided that he’d go to the all night
places that were down the road away. Blair didn’t seem like the type
that would care about where his clothes were bought. Jim wrote a quick
note to let Blair know where he was. Then he glanced at Blair’s jeans,
shirt, underwear, socks and his shoes for an idea of what to buy. Jim
could figure out what to do about the coat.
As he drove down the road Jim started humming to the music on the radio.
Jim never did that. Ellison, you have it bad. You’re in love.
Jim had a lot of thinking to do while he was shopping. The main thing
he wondered about was why would he fall for a man now. He was a little
old to be changing his lifestyle. Not that he was complaining.
Jim pushed the cart down the aisles, putting things in the cart right and
left. He found all sorts of things for Blair. However, he also
found things for them together, like condoms and lube. They needed
a lot of them both. He bought two new sets of sheets. He found a new
comforter that seemed more Blair like. The big bed needed some extra
pillows. He picked out everything they would need for the bathroom
too. Jim had never been one for shopping. This wasn’t too bad.
It was quiet. There was no one else in the store other than himself
and the stockers and one clerk.
He went into the men’s department and found all of the clothing that would
get Blair through the next couple of days until Jim could send him to the
shop that he usually went to for men’s clothing. He then picked up
a pair of Nike’s. Okay, they weren’t Nike’s, but they would do until
Jim could get him the real things. He found him an especially nice comfortable
jacket that would keep two men warm, so it would be perfect for Blair.
Jim found himself smiling increasingly as he shopped. You big doofus,
you have it so bad.
When Jim was done, the cart was completely filled with things for the loft
and for Blair. Jim was very proud of himself. He even bought
Blair a toothbrush, hairbrush and those types of things. The girl looked
at him oddly while checking him out. When she got to the condoms and
the lube, she stared at Jim. Jim had the decency to turn red.
After all, he had bought 20 boxes of condoms and 20 tubes of lube.
Shit… What was I thinking? He was thinking of fucking like bunnies.
Jim paid for everything with his VISA and went loaded everything in
the truck. He was almost excited about having someone living with him.
However, he’d have to see what Blair thought of that, but he’d ask.
That was the first step.
When Jim got home he had to make four trips down to the truck for everything.
He was afraid that he’d wake Blair up but he needn’t have worried.
Blair slept through it all. Jim decided to wash all of the clothes
so they wouldn’t be so stiff and new. Finally finishing up at about
4:00 in the morning, Jim went back to bed, climbed in with Blair, and pulled
him close. He was sound to sleep in minutes.
At about 8:00, Jim pulled his cell phone off the nightstand and called his
office. Carol answered, “Ellison Investigations, may I help you?”
“Yeah, it’s me. I’m going to be a little late today. Could you
call Simon Banks and tell him that I won’t be able to make it as planned.
I’ll call him when I get there. Blair’s building and car blew up last night
so he’s had a tough night.”
“Oh my God. Is he all right, Jim?”
“Yeah, he’ll be fine. I’ll bring him in later today so you can show
him the ropes.”
“Jim, did you let him stay at your place last night?” Carol said with a smile
in her voice. Jim heard it.
“Yes, if you must know.” Jim said with a smile on his face.
“Man, you’re hooked already, aren’t you?”
“Yeah, I am. We’ll see you later. Thanks Carol.”
Hanging up the phone Jim pulled Blair close to him again. He noticed
that Blair would pull away as soon as Jim didn’t have his arms on him.
Oh shit, was he making Blair do this? Shit…
When he awoke the next time he could hear Blair downstairs talking to himself
in the bathroom. “Okay, Blair, when did he go shopping? Why did
he do all of this? I’m no one to him. I don’t mean anything to
him but he must have shopped for hours last night while I was sleeping.”
Looking at himself in the mirror, he said, “Don’t you dare fall for him.
Yes, you. You know you’ll only fuck it up.”
Blair took a shower, shaved, got dressed and was making breakfast when Jim
came down the stairs. Jim looked at him with his new clothes on and
said, “You look great.” Jim then pulled Blair into his arms and kissed him
soundly. Blair just stood there with a goofy look on his face.
Jim walked into the bathroom, got into the shower and then got dressed for
work before coming into the kitchen.
They ate breakfast and Jim said, “I have some things to ask you and I don’t
want to push you, but at the same time, I think you need to think about them.”
“All right, I’m ready.” Blair said sounding almost scared.
“I was wondering if you’d like to move in with me. We could take things
slower if that would make you happier. I don’t want to force you into
doing things you don’t want to but I really like having you here with me.”
“You want me to stay here in this loft with you?” Blair asked with a look
of shock on his face.
Jim began to panic and said, “I know, I’m probably pushing you. I’m
sorry. Like I said, I have that small room down here that you could
use if you want to try that first. Either way, I just like having you
here.”
Blair surprised Jim by going into his arms and kissing him. He looked
up at Jim and smiled and said, “I’d love to move in with you. I love you,
too.”
“We really need to get to the office but I want to pick this up where we
left off when we come home.” Jim said smiling once again.
“That sounds good to me, hot stuff.” Blair said laughing.
They walked down to the car and Jim gave Blair a loft key and a set of keys
for his truck and said, “We’ll go and get you some things later this week.
I have plenty of money. So don’t worry about that.”
“Why would you have plenty of money? Most PI’s don’t have a lot of
money. They usually live from one client to another.” Blair asked.
“Well, I got a huge settlement from the government when I left. I invested
wisely and I’ve made quite a bit from that. The loft's mine.
I own it.”
“You’ll have to fill me in on all that some day. All right? I’d like
to know more about you.”
“Yeah, I’ll tell you about me as we live together longer. I’m afraid
that you won’t like who I am most of the time. Don’t let me scare you off,
okay? I’m a grouch in the morning. I hate mornings, usually,
but my bark's worse than my bite.” Jim explained.
“Hey, Jim. I don’t know if you noticed this yet but I’m wild about
you. You don’t have to sell yourself to me, man. I already love
you.”
“Thanks, Chief. I love you, too.” When they pulled into Jim’s parking
spot, he leaned over and kissed Blair and said, “I hate that I can’t do that
all day long.”
“Who says we can’t?” Blair said jumping out of the truck and almost skipping
into the office.
“Morning, Carol.” Blair called out as he walked through the door. Carol grabbed
Blair, hugged him and said, “God, I was so scared when Jim said your place
and car blew up. What happened, darlin?”
“My neighbors were drug dealers. Go figure. So when something
got too hot it exploded I guess. I’m not sure myself. I bet Jim knows.”
This was the first Jim had heard about this. He just stood there with
his mouth hanging open. “Drug Dealers, Chief?”
“Jim, it’s not like I knew what they did for a living. I was trying
to get out of that neighborhood for awhile but it’s hard when you’re a student.”
“Carol, why don’t you show Blair all that he’ll need to know for the rest
of the day. I need to call Simon Banks and see what time he has open
for us.” Jim said as he made his way into his office. Closing the door,
Jim took a deep breath. It had suddenly hit Jim that he was in love
with a man and that people would know by looking at him. Something
you’ll have to work on, Jimmy boy.
Jim sat down at his desk and called Simon. When Simon answered, “Banks.”
Jim said, “Hey, Simon, sorry about this morning.”
“What happened, Jim? I knew that something must have happened if you
called that off.”
“My new roommate and office assistant’s place blew up last night. He
lost everything. We had to get him some things before he came into
work. Do the parents still want to see us?”
“Yeah, they want to see you. They’re dying for someone to find something
new that might open up things for all of them.” Simon said. “When can you
make it to station?”
“In about an hour?” Jim asked.
“An hour would be great. Thanks again, Jim. I sure hope you can
find something that no one else has been able to.” Simon said tiredly.
Jim buzzed his speaker COM for Carol and Blair. Blair answered and
said, “What can I get you, Mr. Ellison?”
Jim started laughing loudly and said, “Smart ass, I need you to come in so
I can fill you in on where we’re going today.”
“On my way, boss man.” Blair said chuckling.
He knocked and walked in and Jim was glaring at him. Nevertheless,
he didn’t scare Blair a bit. Jim knew he was going to be in trouble.
Today was the first day and Jim had already lost control.
“We’re going to the Police Station to help a friend of mine with a case that
no one's making any headway on. I need to tell you some things before
we go.”
“I’m listening, Mr. Ellison.”
“Okay, Blair, quit fooling around. This is very serious.”
“Sorry, go ahead, man, I’m listening.”
“Have you heard about those missing children?” Jim asked.
“Well, of course, who hasn’t? It’s terrible. You’re being called
in on that. Why?”
“I can sense things that no one else can. So sometimes I’m able to
notice a scent, or see something that no one else did. That’s the types
of things I wanted to warn you about. When I do listen or use one sense
too hard, I like go away for awhile.”
“Like a zone of sorts?” Blair asked all excited.
“I don’t know. What is a zone?” Jim asked.
Blair sat down and told Jim about Sentinels and zones and how he thought
that maybe they had been destined to find one another. “Maybe it’s like fate
or something.” Blair ended up saying.
“You think I could be one of these Sentinel’s.” Jim asked.
“Yeah, Jim. I do. We’ll try some things while out in the field
today. We’ll see how good you can see, hear, smell and touch things
while I’m there to help you. Sometimes that helps. Sentinel’s need
a guide.”
“It would help explain the reason I’m able to find a lot of things that no
one else has found on the cases that Simon gives to me.” Jim said.
“Jim, it’s not just being a sentinel. It’s also being just a really
good detective type person. I think you have to have that to start
with.” Blair said.
“We’re supposed to meet Simon at the station in about 30 minutes. Want
to get ready to go?” Jim asked.
“Jim, I’m as ready as I get.” Blair said laughing.
The office door was shut and Jim pulled Blair into his arms and started kissing
him. “No, Jim. Not here. This is our workplace. We
have to keep it professional here. Okay?”
“Okay. Let's get out of here so I can kiss you in the truck then.”
Jim said smiling all the way to the truck. Jim was good to his word
he kissed him as soon as they were in the truck. Jim’s cell phone rang
and he answered, “Ellison.”
“Geeze, you two, get a room.” Carol said laughing and hung up.
Jim began laughing as he started the truck. When they got to the station,
they followed Simon to the first missing child’s home.
The parents opened up the door and smiled at Jim. Mr. Bachman said,
“I hope you can help us, Sir.”
“The name's Jim Ellison and this is my assistant, Blair Sandburg.”
“Nice to meet both of you.” Mr. Bachman said as he shook their hands.
Then Mrs. Bachman shook their hands too. “I’ve heard that you have a wonderful
gift. Thank you for using it to help us.”
“Ma’am, I need you to know that it’s not really a gift I can count on.
Sometimes it’s there and sometimes it’s not. I’ll try my best but I
can’t promise anything. Please, don’t get your hopes up.”
“Anything would be better than nothing, Mr. Ellison.” She said as she walked
up the stairs to show them their little girls room.
Jim and Blair walked in to the sparkling clean room and Jim said, “Mr. Bachman,
could we please be alone. I can think better when left alone.”
“Of course. We’ll be downstairs if you need me.”
“Jim, the first thing we need to do is set up something where you can tell
if their heartbeats are beating like everyone else’s. You can sometimes
tell if a person is lying that way. Then we know if they’re anyone
to worry about.”
“Okay, Chief, I’m doing that. Both of the Bachman’s are upset, but
not overly so. Nothing for us to worry about, I don’t believe. What’s
next?”
“Next we need to take some things that belonged to the little girl, what's
her name?”
“Anna Bachman.” Jim said picking up her pillow from her bed. He put
the pillow up to his face and said, “I can smell her scent on the pillow.
Unless, of course, the parents have slept in here. That would ruin
it.”
“I’m going to go and ask Mrs. Bachman before we proceed.” Blair said walking
out the door. Jim looked around the room and went looking for any scents
that seemed different or out of place. When he got to her closet, he smelled
something that shouldn’t have been there. He smelled urine. Why
would there be urine there?
Blair came walking into the room and said, “Jim, no one has been in this
room but the cops and feds. That’s it.”
“Blair, I smell urine right here.” Jim pointed to the closet. “See
if you can pick anything else up that no one noticed.” Blair said.
Jim picked up his phone and dialed Simon’s line. “Banks.” Simon answered.
“Simon, we’re upstairs. I need you to bring back a team. I sensed
some urine on the closet floor. I’m still checking but they have no
pets, right?”
Jim held on while Simon asked about pets. “No, Jim, no pets. I’ll call
for the unit right now. Keep looking.”
“Chief, I don’t know why but there are two different scents of urine here.
One could be the little girl but the other's an adult. Something a
lot stronger.”
Jim kept looking but was unable to find anything else. When the forensic
unit got there, they found both places where he sensed the urine and they
agreed, one was a child’s and one was probably an adult's since it was stronger.
They’d have to wait to be sure when the tests came back. As Jim was
still walking around the room he stopped and started shaking.
Blair walked up and said, “Jim, what’s wrong?”
Jim whispered, “She’s dead, Chief. I smell it right here.” Blair looked
up into Jim’s tear filled eyes and said, “Okay, Jim, how do you know that?
We have to give them something to go on.”
“I smell blood and feces. It’s very strong and I can just smell death.” Jim
said sadly.
Blair called Simon over and told him this and Simon called the unit over
to do more tests. They found blood and feces just where Jim said.
Jim walked out of the room and walked straight out of the house. Mrs.
Bachman followed him out of the house and asked, “Is she dead?”
“I think so, yes. But let’s not give up hope yet.” Jim said, trying
to sound optimistic.
Mrs. Bachman started crying and went into Jim’s arms and said, “I could feel
it when I was in her room. I don’t know why. I’ve always had
a sense of where she is and what she’s doing. But not this time.”
“I’m so sorry, Mrs. Bachman.” Jim said as he rubbed her back as she cried.
Mr. Bachman just looked on from the living room. Jim could see the
tears running down his face as he watched his wife and must have guessed
the truth.
Blair came out and said, “Mrs. Bachman, I need to talk to my partner for
a moment.”
“Partner?” Jim asked almost viciously.
“Jim, you have to stay centered now. I need you to go back in there
and tell me if you smell anything out of the ordinary. Something that
would never be in her room. Like hay from a farm, or candle wax from
a candle shop. Something like that. I need you to catalog anything
you can find and I’ll write them all down and we’ll try to work this out.
We can’t leave it like it is.”
“Okay, Blair. You’re right. We’ll go back in and try to get more
to go on.”
“When they got back upstairs, Blair said, “Simon, could we be alone for a
short time. Jim needs to concentrate some more.”
Simon gathered everyone up and had them leave the room. Jim went through
the room, cataloging all scents he could come up with. The only thing
that seemed really out of place, was a strong odor of coffee beans.
Not coffee, but the beans themselves. “I think this person sucks on
coffee beans.” Jim said quietly. “We’re not telling anyone besides
Simon thus far, though.”
“Chief, we really need to check all of the other children’s room’s as soon
as we can. This might be something. I’ve never been able to catalog
scents like that. Thank you.”
“You’re very welcome. We’ll get something, Jim. I just know it.
Maybe we’ll be able to help some of the children.”
They left the Bachman's home that day with a heavy heart. Jim knew
with all that he could sense, that Anna was dead. This made him so
sad. It was a shock to him. Simon said, “Jim, do you think you
can come to any of the other homes and see what you can find?”
“Yeah, that’s our plan. Simon, the person who was in this room sucks
on coffee beans. It wasn’t her parents, I smelled their breath, and there
was none on either of them. We now have something small to go on.”
“Thank you, Jim. That will help. I don’t know how, yet, but it
will.”
“Why don’t you give me the next address Simon and we’ll meet you there?”
Jim asked.
“Here it is. We’ll meet you there in a few moments.” Simon said.
“Chief, you ready for the next house?” Jim asked hoping this wasn’t scaring
the hell out of Blair.
“No, but we’ll go anyhow. You did really well, Jim. I’m really proud
of you. You kept your cool too.”
“Let’s get over there so we can get this over with.” Jim said sadly.
They both got in the truck and took off for the second house. The Turner’s
were the next family he needed to see.
When Jim and Blair arrived at the Turner’s house, they no sooner got out
of the truck when Jim could smell the scent of coffee beans. It was
so strange. They were outdoors and still the coffee bean smell was
unreal.
“Chief, I can smell the coffee beans out here. Why would I be able
to smell the beans out here?”
“I don’t have a clue, Jim. I would say, maybe, there are some beans
on the ground around here. Let’s look before we go to talk to the Turner’s.”
They both started looking and Blair said, “Jim, try to shut all smells out
except the coffee beans.”
Jim did this and Blair followed when Jim started over towards a wooded area.
It was almost like a private little forest. This home and land was
gorgeous. Blair wondered if this child hadn’t been taken for money.
They got to the middle of this group of trees and Jim started retching.
Blair rushed to his side and said, “Jim, what’s wrong? What do you
smell?”
“Jesus, I thought Simon said the dogs had been out here. I smell something
rotting. Jesus Christ, Blair. It’s a body.”
Blair turned around wildly and looked as fast as he could in the area that
Jim was staring and said, “How do you know? I don’t see anything.”
“I can smell it. We need to call Simon right now. This time I smell
blood, urine, semen and feces.” Having said all of this, Jim leaned over
and puked his breakfast up. Blair was shocked at seeing Jim lose it.
He didn’t strike him as the type.
Blair grabbed Jim’s cell and called Simon. “Hey, Captain Banks.
Jim said to tell you to bring everyone out here. He thinks he found a body.”
“What do you mean he thinks he did? He either did or didn’t.”
Jim pulled the phone away from Blair and said, “Simon, I can smell that this
one was sexually assaulted before or after she died. But I smell her. I just
don’t want to fuck up the area with my footprints.”
“Okay, Jim. We’re on our way. Do you suppose it’s more than one
body?” Simon asked.
“How would I know that, Simon?” Jim said angrily.
Jim paced before the row of trees that he could smell the odor coming from.
He was dying to get in there and see if there was anyone alive but he knew
he couldn’t do that. He’d fuck up evidence. Shit…
When Simon drove up, he had about six other officers with him. They
all came walking over to the wooded area and Jim said, “It’s this way.” Everyone
followed, no one asked how he knew, and they just followed. All of the men
had that same look of dread on their face as they entered the area.
As they got closer, Jim was having a hard time breathing. He stopped,
bent over and gagged. Blair rubbed his back and whispered, “Try to
picture dials in your mind for each of your senses. You’ll be able
to turn each of them down to the point where you can handle the smell.”
Jim closed his eyes for a second and did what Blair asked and it worked somewhat.
“Blair, I think that there's more than one body here. There's no way
that one little girl made that much of a smell. It’s the worst thing
I’ve ever had to smell.”
Jim stood back up and started slowly walking towards the area that the scent
was coming from. He didn’t want to go there. For some reason
it was scaring the shit out of him. Jim Ellison wasn’t easily scared
off but he was scared now. Jim turned to Simon and said, “Didn’t you
tell me that the dogs came out and did a routine sweep of this place?”
“Yeah, they did. But that was about four weeks ago, Jim. These little
girls have been missing for a long time.” Simon said sadly.
Jim led the lead detective into the area and said; “You’ll find someone over
here.” Pointing to a spot in the ground Jim walked back as if something was
going to jump out at him. Blair saw how freaked out he was and came
over and rubbed Jim’s back again. “Jim, what's freaking you out, man?”
“Chief, there's someone watching us. I can feel them. God, I
know that they’ll find more than one here. It’s making me jumpy and
sick.”
“Glance around slowly, Jim. Try and focus your eyes and see if you
see anyone watching.”
Jim stood and slowly turned around and just focused until he saw someone
about two miles down the road in a blue pickup. Jim said, “Simon, there's
a blue pickup down the road. Did you see it when you came up here?”
“No, there was no one on the road, Jim. Why? You see something?”
“It’s too far away to make a positive ID but I sure feel like we’re being
watched.” Blair walked up to Jim and said, “Jim, focus. You’ll be able
to see the face if you try. Turn the dial up and see if that helps.”
Jim turned up the dial and glanced over there again and this time he was
able to see a side profile of a man. Then he saw a man watching him
with binoculars. Jim could see his eyes watching him. They were
looking for this man. “Simon, the guy's down the road, I can feel it.
Please, get someone over there right now.”
Simon called it in but Jim saw the person take off as Simon did so. “Shit…they
left Simon, they’re driving off.”
“Jim, calm down. Sandburg, is something wrong with him?” Simon asked
Blair.
“He’s just on an overload of feelings right now. Can you imagine, Sir?
It must be terrible to be able to sense things as he does.” Blair said to
Simon, starting to rub Jim’s back again.
“Chief, rubbing my back isn’t going to help a fucking thing.” Jim growled.
Blair backed away from him and said, “Sorry, man.” Blair just stood over
to the side.
Jim walked over to him and said, “I’m sorry, Chief.”
“We’ll try to get a few things taken care of and then I think you should
go home.”
“I can’t go home. These parents are still looking for their babies.”
Jim said with tears in his eyes. He got closer to Blair and he said,
“I think there are about four bodies here. Jesus, Chief, this is going
to be bad.”
Jim looked over across the yard and saw a woman and man walking over that
way. “Simon, the parents are on their way over here. I think
it would be a very bad idea to let them anywhere near here.”
Simon grumbled as he made his way over to the parents but the man got away
from Simon and started running for the woods. Jim caught him and said,
“Mr. Turner? I’m Jim Ellison. Let’s go back to your house and
as soon as they find anything, they’ll fill us in. Come with me.” Jim said
softly as he pulled the man’s arm. Mr. Turner was on the verge of falling
apart, Jim really didn’t want to be there when it happened but he also didn’t
want that poor man to see those dead babies.
When they got back to their home, Mr. and Mrs. Turner sat down in the living
room with such a look of fear on their face that they couldn’t even look
at each other. Finally, Mr. Turner said, “They checked the woods, why
would they check it again? Did someone call about it?”
Simon stood up and said, “Mr. Ellison has a special gift sometimes and he’s
helping on this case. He came out to talk to the two of you but he
sensed something in the woods. Then he called us and we’re checking
it out. Nothing's for certain yet.”
“I really need to see your daughter's room.” Jim said softly. “Could you
show it to me? What's your daughter's name?”
“Marnie.” Mrs. Turner said sadly. “She’s been gone for about five weeks now.”
“Mr. Ellison, come with us. We’ll show you her room.” Jim stood up
and followed them up the stairs to the little girl's room.
As he stood in the middle of the room he said, “Has anyone else been in the
room since she was taken besides the police?” Jim asked.
“No...no one but the police and the FBI.” Mr. Turner said. “Is something
wrong?”
“Do you mind if I just hold some of her things? It sometimes helps.” Jim
asked.
“Please. Anything that could help in finding our little girl would
be in everyone’s best interest.” Mrs. Turner said.
Jim picked up her pillow, held it to his face, and got a good scent of the
little girl. He smiled and so did her parents. Looking at them,
he said, “I just had a very sweet thought of your little girl.”
“She’s an angel, Mr. Ellison.” Mrs. Turner said.
“Excuse me, I’m Mr. Ellison’s partner, could we possibly be alone while he
does this?”
“Mr. and Mrs. Turner, why don’t we go downstairs and make coffee?” Simon
asked as they left the room.
Blair glanced over at his partner and saw the tears in Jim’s eyes and he
said, “What’s wrong?”
“There's something wrong. I smell only good things here. There's
no urine, no blood, or anything else. I don’t understand.”
What do you think of the parents, Jim?” Blair asked.
“I talked to them. They seem lost without their little girl and I believe
them. I really can’t see them being in on this. But maybe it's someone they
know.”
“Jim, do you smell anything in this room that shouldn’t be?” Blair asked.
Jim concentrated very hard on nothing but his sense of smell and finally
said, “Coffee beans. The man or woman was here. But Marnie must have known
this person. She wasn’t scared.” Jim said.
Jim, can you see out into the woods?” Blair asked.
“Yeah, why?” Jim answered with a question.
“Because I wondered if they found any bodies. They were all talking about
you being nuts. I think they’re not in the right place.”
Jim looked out the window and saw them bringing bodies out. He turned
to Blair and said, “So far there are four. I don’t see them bringing
any others so far.”
“Oh shit…” Blair said softly.
Jim walked downstairs with Blair following behind. Once he got to the
kitchen he said, “Mr. Turner, would there be anyone that comes around the
house that your little girl wouldn’t be afraid of? A man. I’m sensing
a man in her room and there's no fear like there was in the other little
girl’s room. I don’t think you’re little girl has been hurt.”
There was a knock at the door and two cops asked for Simon. Simon walked
out and said to Jim. “Keep them here please, Jim.”
As Simon took off across the road, Mr. Turner said, “Please let me go and
see if my baby's there.”
Jim held him back and said, “You don’t want to see those bodies, sir.
Your daughter isn’t there. I can feel it.” Mr. Turner sat down hard
into a chair, put his face into his hands, and cried. His wife was
at his side immediately. “Maybe he’s right, honey. Maybe she’s alive
and we’ll find her.”
“Mr. and Mrs. Turner, I plan to continue to look. So, don’t worry about
me forgetting about her. I won’t.”
“Thank you, Mr. Ellison.” Mrs. Turner said to Jim.
Jim asked Blair, “Could you stay with them while I go and see if there's
anything I can do?”
“Go, do what you have to. I’ll be here with the Turner’s.” Blair said.
Jim caught up to Simon and saw the little bodies that they were digging out
of the ground. By this time, they had found four bodies. Simon
informed Jim, “there are more cops and Crime Scene Investigators on the way.
We’re hoping that we can find all of them now. Do you think you can help,
Jim?”
Jim walked over to the empty graves and said, “There's one more over here.”
The cops all went to where Jim was pointing and started digging and found
another little girl. Jim heard one of the cops say to the other one, “I think
he had something to do with it. How else would he know this shit?”
“Nah, he’s really good at this. He’s psychic or something.” The other
cop said to the first one.
Jim walked up to Simon and said, “The killer has something to do with the
Turner’s. I don’t think they know anything. They weren’t anything
but upset about their little girl. I think someone took Marnie and she wasn’t
afraid or anything.”
“Shit, Ellison, that means it’s someone that they know.” Simon said frowning.
Simon and Jim headed back up to the house to ask some more questions.
When they got there, Blair looked worn out from the tension. Jim felt
bad putting him through this his first day working with him.
When they were sitting there, Mr. Turner opened up a glass jar and took out
a coffee bean and put it in his mouth and started sucking it. Jim turned
to him and said, “Does anyone else suck on those things besides you?”
Both Mr. and Mrs. Turner looked at each other and he said, “You think it’s
someone we know? Someone that sucks on these?”
“I sensed coffee beans in the room upstairs and at the other house that we
went to today.” Jim said.
“Mr. Turner sat down and said, “Jesus, my whole family sucks on coffee beans
but no one would hurt our Marnie. No one.”
Simon asked, “Mr. Turner, would anyone besides the two of you get money if
something happened to her?”
“No.” Mr. Turner said. “but there's something we should tell you.”
“What is it, Mr. Turner?” Simon inquired.
“I’m sterile, so we used a family member’s sperm for our daughter.” He said.
“We’ve been fighting with this person about father's rights lately.”
“Do you see him hurting her in any way?” Jim asked.
“No, and even more, I can’t see him hurting any other child. He’s one
of the kindest human beings in the world.”
Jim glanced at Mrs. Turner and said, “You were okay with carrying a child
for the two men?” Simon and Blair just stared at Jim when he asked
that.
“How did you know?” Mr. Turner asked. “My partner and I don’t want people
to know so we’ve said he’s my wife’s brother for years.”
“In answer to your question, Mr. Ellison, I loved carrying the baby for them.
They are wonderful men and they allow me to be Marnie’s Mom all the time.
They're my best friends and will continue to be.”
Simon asked, “Where would we find this man? We need his name and address.”
“He lives here and he’ll be here in about ten minutes.” Mr. Turner said.
“But you’ve been fighting about telling Marnie about him being the father?”
Jim asked.
“Yes, he wanted her to know and we didn’t think it would be a good idea at
all. She’s going on five and she’s always known him as Uncle David.
I’m telling you he had nothing to do with it. You’ll see.”
Ten minutes later, a man came flying through the front door with a look of
horror on his face. “What? What happened to Marnie?”
Jim watched him and saw him go to Mr. Turner’s arms and be held. Jim
saw that Mr. Turner was right. This man wasn’t capable of doing what
happened to those little girls. He looked over and saw all three of them
in a sort of group hug. They were helping each other. They were
right. They were close and could get each other through this.
Simon asked the man if he was David Sanders and he said, “Yes, I’m David.
What’s going on?”
“Can you think of anyone that sucks on coffee beans besides you and Mr. Turner?”
Jim asked.
“Well, of course I can, but what has that to do with anything?” David asked.
“Who, David?” Mr. Turner asked. And David said, “Well, your dad, of course.
He’s always sucking on the damn things. He’s worse than you.”
Mrs. Turner said, “Honey, do you think he knows about you and David? He might
do something crazy.”
“Wait a minute! This is my dad we’re talking about. He'd never
hurt Marnie or any other child.” Mr. Turner said.
Simon called in for a warrant for Mr. Turner’s house. Mr. Turner, Sr.
Mr. Theodore Turner Jr. was in shock. He couldn’t believe that his
father was going to be asked questions like this.
Some policemen came into the house to stay with the Turners and David Sanders.
Jim, Blair and Simon took off to go and question the senior Mr. Turner.
They drove off and Simon said, “I can’t believe that a grandfather would
do this.”
“Sir, I think there's something else going on. I don’t think he cares
about the little girl at all.” Jim said.
“Well, what's the motive for the other children being killed?” Simon asked.
“I think perhaps he wanted the attention to come back on his son and his
friend. Everyone would wonder why all of the bodies were buried there and
maybe it might even come out that they’re gay.”
“Because they’re gay? You think this man murdered five little girls
and has the other one with him because he didn’t want the gay men to raise
her?”
“That would be my guess, sir.” Jim said sadly.
When they drove up, they aleady had the called in warrant that would give
them the go ahead to check out Mr. Turner’s house. They all got out of the
car and they heard the gun go off. Jim went running when he heard a
little heartbeat going so fast that it scared the shit out of him.
As they came into the house, the little girl, Marnie was tied up to a chair
and lying next to her was her grandfather...dead from a gunshot to the head.
Jim untied the little girl and held her in his arms and said, “I’m going
to take you to your Momma in just a few minutes.”
“You swear?” Marnie asked.
“I swear.” Jim said trying not to crush her from the hugs he was giving her.
"There are some little kids in the basement that he was getting ready to
send away. They came from another country or something.” Marnie said.
Simon walked down the stairs and found six small boys, all sexually abused
and half starved. Simon untied all of them and asked them if they knew
who they were. All of the little boys answered with their names and
what city they lived in. The youngest boy was four, the oldest six.
Simon helped them get clothes on and helped them up the stairs.
This is going to be a fucking nightmare.
Simon called in the FBI for the missing children from another state and then
called in more units for Mr. Turner. Jim tried to set Marnie down but
she wouldn’t have anything to do with the idea. She begged, “Please
don’t let anyone touch me.”
“Okay, I won’t. You stay with me and then we’ll go and see your Mom and Dad.”
Jim said as calmly as he could. He gave a look to Simon as if to say,
“She needs to be checked out for abuse, too.” Simon again thought,
this is going to be a fucking nightmare.
Once the police and FBI got there to take over, Simon, Blair, Jim and Marnie
drove over to her home to see her parents. As they drove up, the parents
came running out of the house and Simon said, “Jim, could you hold on to
Marnie for a moment while I talk to them really quickly. Then they
can see her.”
Jim and Blair walked around the side of the house so that she wouldn’t see
her folks until Simon wanted her to. “Are you going to stay with us,
too? My Grampa said that all you men are fags.”
“Well, he was wrong. Marnie, that’s a terrible thing to say so don’t say
it again. It'll hurt people. You don’t want to hurt anyone, do
you?” Jim asked.
“No,” she said sniffing. “I want my Mommy, Daddy and Uncle David. Could I
see them now?”
We can head over there now. How does that sound?” Jim asked.
When Marnie saw her parents she wiggled out of Jim’s arms and ran for her
parents outstretched arms. They held on to her for dear life.
David Sanders walked up to Jim and Blair and said, “Thank you so much for
finding out little girl.”
Jim turned to him and said, “It doesn’t matter who raises her. She
doesn’t care. She loves all three of you. Don’t force her to
choose who her daddy will be. Right now she loves all of you.” Jim
finished and wondered why in the hell he was saying all of that.
“I’ll rethink the entire thing. Suddenly, it doesn’t seem all that important
anymore.” David said.
Jim walked up to Simon and said, “Simon, we’re leaving, I just wanted you
to know. If you need me for anything, call me tomorrow. I need
to go home right now.”
“Thanks, Ellison. We didn’t save them but think of all of the lives
we did save by being here for them.” Simon stated as Jim was getting into
his truck.
The drive home was very quiet. Blair didn’t know what to say.
This was all still very new to him and he didn’t know what to do with his
feelings or how to help Jim deal with his.
When they pulled up in the parking lot of the loft they just sat there.
Jim was trying to just calm down a little bit before he had to actually deal
with any neighbors or anyone else. Blair turned to Jim and said, “Man,
I’m so fucking proud to be your friend.”
It was what Jim needed. He turned to Blair and said, “You did a good
job today, Chief. This one was rough.”
“Jim, let's go upstairs and we can talk up there.” Blair said.
“Okay, let’s get out of this truck, go and take a shower. All I smell
are bad things. I have to get that out of my mind and nose.”
“Then once we’re clean, I’ll make us something to eat and then I’ll hold
you in my arms all night long while you just sleep.” Blair said holding Jim’s
hand while in the elevator.
Jim pulled him close and kissed him softly. Not passionately.
Just letting him know how much he appreciated him. They walked into
the loft and went right for the bathroom to shower.
Blair knew that tonight was going to be rough. Jim would probably have
nightmares but at least some of the children were alive. Blair saw
the sadness in Jim’s eyes and said, “I want you to fuck me right after the
shower.”
“Chief, as much as I’d like to I don’t think I could.”
They stood in the shower and washed each other off. Jim found himself
getting hard while soaping Blair’s body. He started preparing him for
fucking. Jim felt like it might help him feel more alive. God,
he hated his job sometimes. Then he looked down and saw Blair's face
and knew that it was all worth it. Here was a man who lost everything
that very morning but yet was there every moment for Jim while he tried to
work his way through this whole case.
Jim stopped what he was doing and pulled Blair into his arms and Blair could
feel Jim shaking and figured out that Jim was crying. Blair just held
on and let him have a good cry. It must have been so terrible to have
to sense all of that.
“Chief, he killed all of those children because he was sick and because he
thought we were sick. How in the hell could he possibly think he was
better than us on any given day?”
“He couldn’t, Jim, but he was insane. There's nothing we can do about
that. Come on, I want to just hold you in bed.”
Jim didn’t fight that at all. He wrapped a towel around each of them
and they walked up the stairs and Blair was holding to his word. He
just held Jim all night long, rocking and soothing him to sleep when he had
the bad dreams.
Things would get better. They’d take one day at a time.
Tomorrow was a new day.
Jim woke to a beautiful sight the following morning. Blair was lying
there naked; sound asleep, with nothing over the top of his body. No
covers to keep him warm, nothing. Jim moved over and covered his body
up so he could make him warm. Blair loved cuddling.
Jim started running his hand down Blair’s chest, over his belly and then
stroked his cock. Even asleep, Blair was getting hard. Softly, “Jim”
came to Blair’s lips and whispered into the air. This turned Jim on
like nothing ever had. Even sleeping the man was thinking of him.
Thankfully, he wasn’t saying some woman’s name that Jim really didn’t want
to hear. He was so crazy about Blair, it wasn’t even funny. Jim
had many things on his mind today. He’d have to talk to Simon about
Blair living with him so he wouldn’t be surprised when he came over to the
loft to see him. Blair would have to meet all of the Major Crimes guys
on the usual Saturday night poker game. Jim found himself feeling a
little bit tense about that but knew things would be fine.
He could see Henry Brown right now teasing him, saying, “No wonder you never
seemed too big on the ladies.”
Then there would be Brian Rafe saying, “You with a guy? No shit?”
Joel would be totally accepting of anything that Jim did. Joel and
Jim had been friends for years and would probably always be. Simon
would be behind him too. Yeah, this would be all right. Everything
would work out fine.
Looking down at the angelic face, it helped him through his next thoughts.
Jim was going to have to find out why this man had killed all of those children.
Why he had been that insane and no one noticed before. Had he always
known that his son was gay? Did this set him off? And what about
the children? How much abuse did they have to endure while being in
this man’s dwelling?
Jim realized that he’d have to ask the son many damn questions that he probably
didn’t want to ask. In addition, the son sure wouldn’t want to answer
them if he was a normal human being. Jim looked down and Blair was
smiling at him. He kissed him and said, “I was just thinking.”
“You look terrific while you’re thinking.” Blair said.
“I bet you say that to all of your bosses.” Jim said laughing but Blair got
out of bed and went down the stairs.” Well shit, Ellison, you already
pissed him off. That has to be an all time record.
“Chief, I’m sorry. I was joking.” Jim said through the bathroom door.
“Jim, I’m fine. I just don’t know how to take some of the things you
say sometimes. It’s going to take me some time to get used to things.
Sorry.”
“Take your time, Blair. We have forever. Right?” Jim asked nervously.
Opening up the bathroom door Blair walked out with his head down and said,
“Jim, I think we might be taking this too fast.”
“Shit, I knew I would screw this up. Tell me what I did and I’ll fix
it.” Jim begged.
“Jim, you didn’t do anything, so stop that nonsense. I’m crazy about you.
I just don’t know where I fit in your life yet. That bugs me just a
little.”
“Do you think it doesn’t bug me, Blair? I’m going nuts here. How about
if you move into the room down here until you decide what you want to do?”
“I don’t know about you but I don’t know if I could stay out of your bed,
hot stuff.” Blair said smiling.
“You’re okay with us in the bedroom, then?”
“Oh yeah, I’m fine with that. I’m not moving into the small room unless you’re
wanting me to because of family or something.”
“I don’t see my dad and my brother much but they’ll either get used to the
idea, or not. It’s up to them.”
“I only have my Mom. However, she doesn’t come to town very often.
If you’re lucky you won’t have to see her more than once every six months.”
“What do we have planned for today?” Blair said changing the subject.
“Well, Simon said that he wants us to continue looking into this until we
have all the answers we can for all of these parents. That has to be
awful having to live with the thoughts of your children at the hands of a
madman. Maybe we can make something better with checking everything
out. There’s going to be tons of paper work, tons of phone calls, lots
of crying parents, and just exhaustion. Think you can handle that?”
“Yeah, man. I think I can. I want to stay busy and I’d like to
make those families feel better about something. No matter how small
it is.”
“Okay, let's shower, get dressed, have breakfast and get started.” Jim said
walking back upstairs to get his clothes.
Once they got to the office, Carol was packing up her things for her trip.
“Carol, I want you to have a great time with your dad.” Jim said handing
her an envelope.
“What's this?” Carol asked almost afraid to open it.
“Well, if I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore, would it?” Jim asked
smiling.
She opened up the envelope, took the check out and said, “Jim, what is this?”
“Carol, you run my office, I think you know what a check looks like.” Jim
said laughing.
“What the hell's all of this money for?” She asked shocked.
“Carol, that's your vacation, your sick leave, a bonus and just some spending
money. I want things to be easier for you than they have been.
This might help.”
Staring at Jim open mouthed, she said, “Thanks so much, Jim. Now I have to
get out of here so I can finish getting ready for the airport.”
Blair hugged Carol and said, “Hurry back. I don’t want to do this all
the time.”
Carol hugged him back and whispered, “How much do you want to bet he asks
you to be a partner?”
Blair new that Jim would have heard that so he was instantly embarrassed.
“I’ll let you know if there are any changes.”
As soon as Carol left, Blair said, “What’s up first?”
“Chief, here's a list of the family members of the children that were killed.
Not their parents. I figured that would be too hard. We need
to know if this man planned this out or was it something else. While you
do that, I’m going to call Simon about what’s going on. Then I’ll call
my friend Dan Wolfe, the coroner at CPD. He might have something useful
for us to use.”
“I’ll start making the calls and if you need me, let me know, okay?” Blair
asked.
“Sure thing. She’s right you know?” Jim asked
“Right about what?” Blair asked, honestly confused.
“I do want you to come into the business. You really helped me yesterday.
If I had you helping me, I could do a much better job.”
“I’ll think about it, Jim. Thanks for asking.” Blair said quietly as
he started looking over his list of calls to make.
When Jim returned to his office to begin work, the phone rang and Blair answered.
He walked in and said, “Jim, there's a new client on the phone. They’d
like to see you this afternoon. Should I put them off or make an appointment?”
“Go ahead and make the appointment. We’ll need a break now and then
from this other case.”
“How do I know what times would be good? I have no calendar for you
yet.” Blair asked honestly confused.
“Go ahead and make up the appointment and if we need to change it we can
call them back. Make sure it’s something that’s doable.” Jim said giving
Blair free reign.
“Okay. Go back to what you were doing.”
Jim could hear him out there taking down a lot of information and when he
heard Blair hang up, Jim got back to his own calls.
He called Simon.
“Banks.”
“Good morning, Simon. How are you today?”
“Good morning, Jim. I’ve had better days. This one's messy.
I kid you not, I talked to Dan Wolfe this morning and this man was a monster,
worse than we had all thought. What do you need?”
“Well, I was wondering if you’d heard anything new about the case.
I guess you have?”
“Yeah, Dan said that he had raped all of the children repeatedly. He
was also starving the ones in his basement.” Simon said angrily.
“He have any history of abusing his own son when he was young?” Jim asked.
“He has history of something, we just don’t know what it is. He was
in a mental institution for a number of years but they won’t give us any
information. We might have to call in the Feds on this and see if they
can get them to open the files.”
“Jesus, wouldn’t you think the son would have said something right up front?”
Jim asked.
“Jim, it was when the son was very young, he might not remember.” Simon said.
“Want to give them a try and see if you can find anyone from that time period
to talk to about him?”
“Sure, I’ll start that today.” Jim said as he made a quick note on the paper
to call the hospital to talk to someone.
“I’ll talk to you later, Jim. Hope your day isn’t as bad as mine is.”
Simon said seriously.
Bye, Simon. We’ll count on you for Saturday, right?”
“Poker night, you bet. I have to do something that's normal to make
me feel like I’m a human being. Bye, Jim.”
Hanging up the phone Jim buzzed Blair into his office. Blair came walking
in and said, “What’s up, Jim?”
“You told me the other day that you’re really good with computers.
Well, could you by any chance get into the Cascade Mental Hospital medical
records? Or better yet, their employment records.”
“I could get into the employment records fairly easy. That’s not that
hard. The medical records would be much harder not to mention illegal.”
Blair said smiling.
“We need to find out who worked at the hospital from 1960 to 1964.
Could you look for me, get some names, addresses and phone numbers?”
“Sure, I’ll do that right now. You want to hear about the new case?”
“Sure, what’s up?” Jim asked.
“It was in the paper about you helping those people find those kids, and
this couple are missing their teenage daughter. They’d like to talk
to you and see if you can figure out where she went.”
“Now with teens, it’s usually just a case of running away.” Jim stated.
“They swear that she’s a straight A student, tons of friends, loved by all
of the family and no apparent problems.” Blair said.
“Want to go over there now before we start on this?”
“Sure, let me call and tell them that we’ll be coming by now.” Blair said
walking out of Jim’s office.
Jim was actually looking for something else to do so they wouldn’t have to
question anyone from the last case. Jim just didn’t feel up to it yet.
Sad but true. Blair buzzed Jim’s office and said, “I’m ready whenever
you are.”
Jim got up from behind the desk, grabbed his jacket and they walked out to
the truck. As soon as they took off Blair said, “Okay, their names
are Mr. and Mrs. Albert Tyler. Their daughter’s name is Taryn Tyler.
That’s all I have right this minute.”
“We’ll check the folks out and then her room. Sometimes they leave
something out of place the parents just don’t even notice. Then we’ll
check out her friends and other family members.” Jim said calmly.
Arriving at the home Jim noticed the beautiful place. It was huge,
fancy and not at all what he was expecting. Getting out of the truck, they
walked up to the front door and knocked.
A pretty woman in her 40’s answered the door and said, “Mr. Ellison?” Jim
stuck his hand out and said, “Yes, and you are Mrs. Tyler?”
“Yes, so you must be Blair Sandburg. Thank you for coming so quickly.
I know that you’re still busy with the closing of the other case. I
appreciate it.”
They followed Mrs. Tyler into the house and she said, “Mr. Ellison and Mr.
Sandburg, this is my husband, Albert Tyler.”
Mr. Tyler stuck his hand out for the firm handshakes from both men.
“It’s very good of you to see us so soon, Mr. Ellison. We know how
busy you are. You come highly recommended.”
“We know your father, Mr. Ellison.” Mrs. Tyler said.
“First of all, call me Jim and this is Blair. That makes is less formal.”
Jim said. “Next how do you know my dad?”
“Well, Jim, call me Albert then. We belong to the same country club as your
father and he was talking about how you found those children. We asked
him about you and he gave us your number and said we wouldn’t be sorry.”
Mr. Tyler said.
“We need to sit down and just start from the beginning.” Jim said.
Mrs. Tyler led them into the sitting room and they all sat to begin discussions.
“Where would you like to start Jim?”
“Well, Mrs. Tyler, what did she usually do? Did you notice anything
changing in the last two weeks before she left?”
“Taryn almost always did the same things. She didn’t miss any school,
none of her music classes and her friends all say that she was happy.”
“Well, we’ll need a list of all of her friends, male and female. Now,
how about family? Anyone notice a difference that you know of?” Jim
asked.
“We’ve been all over this with the police.” Albert said. “Why hash over the
very same things. Couldn’t you find something new to go over?”
“Albert, we have to start over again. I wasn’t on the case so let's
just act like this is the first time.” Jim said sternly.
“You’re right of course, I’m sorry.” Albert answered.
Blair finally said, “Do you mind if we go through her room? While we’re
up there, you can make a list of friends and relatives for us. We’ll
need addresses and phone numbers.”
“That’s fine but Jim you never mentioned what you charge. When and
how do I pay you?” Albert asked.
“I charge $500.00 a day for recovery cases. Unless I have to leave
the country, then of course, it’s a lot more.” Jim said.
“Do I make a check out daily, then?” Mrs. Tyler asked.
“No, Ma’am, I’ll bill you weekly.” Jim said. “In fact, if you have
any questions about billing, this is the man to talk to. He’s my bookkeeper.”
Blair looked at him like he’d been smacked up the head by a two-by-four.
He whispered, “What the hell are you doing, man?”
“We’ll get upstairs and begin our investigation.” Jim said pulling Blair
along with him. Mrs. Tyler led them to their daughter’s room.
She stood in the doorway watching Jim look over things and Jim turned around
to say, “Do you suppose we could do this in private?”
“Of course.” She said as she shut the door.
“Man, what the hell was all that down there about me being your bookkeeper?
I’m no bookkeeper. I have classes to teach, remember?”
“Chief, are you angry about that? I figured it would make you feel
like part of the team.” Jim said.
“Well, you should have asked me first. That’s all I’m saying, Jim.
I do have another life, too.” Blair said trying not to be pissed off.
“Sorry, Sandburg, it won’t happen again.” Jim said.
Blair could tell Jim was pissed now. Oh great, Sandburg, piss your
boss/lover off the second time you work with him.
Jim was walking around the room trying to see if anything looked out of place.
Blair walked up behind him and touched Jim’s back to calm him. Blair
could see how tense he was. He rubbed his back softly and said; “Now
I want you to catalog all the smells you can while we’re standing here.
We’ll see if they all belong when we talk to the parents.”
Pulling out his notebook, Blair began to ready himself for writing.
Jim looked over and smiled as he closed his eyes and just stood in the middle
of the room and smelled his surroundings. “I can smell that she uses
Vanilla musk as a perfume. I know it’s not her Mom’s. She uses
something else that I’m not familiar with. I can smell the father’s
aftershave, which is an expensive brand. I don’t know the name. We
can ask him later.” Jim opened up his eyes, walked over to a different
section of the room, and closed his eyes again. “Now over here I smell
Charlie. Someone that uses a lot of Charlie Cologne.” Blair was writing
this all down as Jim was rattling it off. Jim opened up the closet
and said; “Now I smell something a little out of place. I’m not sure
what it is.”
“Jim, focus, I’ll leave my hand on your back so you can focus on two things.
My touch and your sense of smell.”
Jim leaned down after a short time, pulled a few shoes out and found something
plastic inside of one of the shoes. Jim wasn’t sure what it was until
he picked it up. “Whoa, Chief, I think this is probably a Home Pregnancy
Test.”
Blair looked at it and said, “Well, that might be why she’s out of here,
ya think? I mean it clearly says she’s pregnant.”
“Well, it’s something to go on. Give me one of those plastic bags,
please? The cops probably didn’t think to look inside her shoes. Why
would she feel like she had to hide it instead of just throw it away?”
“I don’t know, Jim. It’s weird. I mean she has enough money to
get rid of it. She certainly has enough money to be able to go somewhere
out of town to have the baby and give it up for adoption if she needed to
do that.”
I’m a little worried about this hiding of the home pregnancy kit. Like
she was afraid someone would come into the room at any second. I might
want to ask her parents a few more questions and then we’ll call Simon for
the rest of the files.“
“Jim, do you think maybe her family knows where she is?” Blair asked with
his eyes wide.
“I don’t know, Chief. We’ll see what they say when we go downstairs.”
Jim said as he led Blair out of the bedroom. They walked downstairs
and joined Mr. and Mrs. Tyler in the sitting room.
“Mrs. Tyler, was Taryn dating anyone in particular?” Jim asked.
“Well, she was hoping that the new boy in her class would ask her out, but
no, other than that, she was seeing no one.” Mrs. Tyler said. “Did you find
anything while you were up there?”
“We did find one thing but it made no sense to me, Ma’am. “ Jim said as he
pulled out the plastic bag holding the pregnancy test in it and showed Mrs.
Tyler.
“There has to be some mistake. She’s not even dating. We were
just talking about it right before she left. She said she wished she
felt more comfortable with guys her age.” Mrs. Tyler said, clearly upset.
“Well, we’ll see what the police have to say about this.” Blair said.
“Mr. Tyler, do you have any idea’s about this?” Jim asked, switching back
to calling him Mr. Tyler. Blair looked at him oddly.
Mr. Tyler looked at Jim with a strange look and said, “Of course I don’t
know where she is.”
“Sir, that’s not what I asked you. Do you know anything about her being
pregnant?” Jim asked calmly.
“No, I don’t know about that one either. I object to you asking the police
about this since it's our daughter’s reputation that's at stake. I
beg you to please reconsider.” Mr. Tyler pleaded.
“We’ll be doing some more checking and I’ll get back to you as soon as I
find something out.” Jim said.
Mrs. Tyler walked them to the door and said, “Do you have any idea of what’s
going on, Mr. Ellison?”
“No Ma’am. Not yet. It’s too soon to make any guesses or decisions
on where we go from here. I’ll call you if I have anything new to add.” Jim
said.
As soon as they got in the truck, Blair said, “Okay, you wanna tell me what’s
going on, Jim. You were like totally bugging out in there.”
“Chief, what the hell do you mean by bugging out? I did something wrong?”
Jim asked seriously.
“Well, one minute you were asking Mrs. Tyler questions, showed her the pregnancy
test and the next you were bugging out about something Mr. Tyler said.
Did you hear something he said?”
“No, I heard his heart beat almost double when I showed the pregnancy test
to his wife. He’s probably been looking for it all along.”
“Oh Jesus, please don’t tell me that he killed her and it was his baby.”
Blair said looking a little green.
“I don’t think so. I think he knows where she is. We need to
find out where he goes and what he does. We also need to monitor his
calls. I think he has her stashed away somewhere. I don’t think she’s
dead. However, I’m not sure about the baby. It might be his,
might not.”
“Jesus, people are weird. Why wouldn’t he just tell his wife where
she was? That makes no sense to me.” Blair said.
Jim flipped a u-turn and went back the way they’d come. As he pulled
up in front of the large Tyler home, Blair said, “What are we doing man?”
“We’re going to see what he does today and where he goes.” Jim answered.
As if on cue, Mr. Tyler walked out the door, got in his car, and drove off.
Jim followed at a safe distance and when they came to a deserted building,
both Jim and Blair got a bad feeling. Mr. Tyler got out of his car
and walked into the building. Jim said, “Chief, stay here and if I
don’t come out soon, call Simon and tell him where I am.”
“No way, man. I’m going with you. You might zone and then I’d
be out here all alone.” Blair said into Jim’s smiling face.
“All right, but don’t do anything to draw attention to yourself.”
“Like I would ever do anything to draw attention to myself.” Blair said to
himself as he walked off towards the building.
They were inside the building and Blair said, “Now reach out with your
hearing and see if you can hear either Mr. Tyler or Taryn.”
Jim did just that, as he heard a voice talking. “I hear Mr. Tyler, he seems
to be talking to someone. I don’t hear any other heartbeats, though.
Just his. Oh Jesus, Blair, I smell a dead body. Call Simon and tell him to
come right now.”
“Christ, what is it with you and dead bodies?” Blair said as he hit the speed
dial for Simon. “Simon Banks, please.”
“Banks.” Simon said answering his phone.
“Simon, this is Blair Sandburg, we’re at a warehouse on 30th and Kolb.
We followed Mr. Albert Tyler and Jim said that he senses that there's a dead
body here.”
“Okay, stay on the line, Blair. We’ll be there in about five minutes.
Don’t let Jim do anything stupid.” Simon said.
“Jim, Simon said to hang back and don’t do anything stupid.”
“Okay.” Jim said quietly. Then Blair watched as Jim continued to listen
to Mr. Tyler talking.
“He’s talking to her as if she’s alive. He’s saying that it’s all her
fault that she can’t go home.” Jim said with tears in his eyes.
“For Gods sake, what's the deal? Two bad cases in two days?” Blair
asked leaning into Jim for some much needed hugging. Jim put his arms
around Blair and said, “I think he might be getting ready to kill himself,
Chief. I better go and see what’s going on.”
“Jim, Simon said not to do anything stupid.” Blair said sounding alarmed.
“I’m not going to do anything stupid, Blair. I’m going to see what
this man's doing and see if I can stop him from doing the same thing the
man did yesterday.” Jim said as he angrily walked away.
“Way to piss him off, Sandburg, like you need to push yourself out of his
life anymore.” Blair whispered to himself.
Jim was back in a flash and said, “Chief, you’re not upsetting me.
You’re not pushing yourself out of my life. We’re fine. Just
stay here and wait for Simon. I’ll be with Mr. Tyler.” Then without
even thinking he leaned down and kissed Blair’s sweet lips and said, “I love
you.”
“Oh man, do I ever love your sweet talk.” Blair said smiling.
When Simon got there about five minutes later, Blair showed him where Jim
had gone and the cops all took off in that direction. Blair started
after them and Simon said, “Better stay here, Sandburg. Until we know
what we’re dealing with.”
Blair leaned against the wall, pissed off that they wouldn’t let him find
out if Jim was all right. He needn’t have worried as Jim strolled up
to him and said, “We can go now, Chief.”
Blair followed him out of the warehouse and when they got in the truck, Jim
leaned his head onto the steering wheel and said, “She was dead. He
was getting ready to shoot himself. I didn’t let him. Now he’ll
probably go to a mental institution and be out in a few years. Pisses
me off, Chief. She was a nice looking girl. I don’t mean as in
looks. She looked sweet.” He glanced over at Blair and Blair saw the
unshed tears in Jim’s eyes and he said, “Jim, let's get back to the office.
We have work to do and then we can think about something else right now.”
As Jim started the truck he said, “Simon said he’d go and tell Mrs. Tyler.”
There was nothing more that Blair could add to make Jim feel better. Instead,
he put his hand inside Jim’s which was sitting on the bench seat of the truck.
Jim squeezed Blair’s hand and instantly Blair knew that Jim had needed that
touch.
When they got to the office, Blair said, “Jim, why don’t you rest awhile
and I’ll make those phone calls for you. Then I’ll go ahead, get into the
computer and find those names of employee’s that you need.”
“Okay, I’m just going to lie down for about twenty minutes, all right?” Jim
asked.
“I’ll wake you in twenty. Rest. Things will look better when
you’re done.” Blair said as he picked up the phone and started making his
phone calls.
Jim went over to his sofa in the office, lay down and pulled an afghan over
him as he was trying to figure out how anyone could do that to their own
child. That was his last thought as he fell asleep. When he woke up
about an hour later, Blair was busy on the computer so he got busy doing
the paper work up the last case. At least it was simple. There
was no way he was billing Mrs. Tyler. She’d already lost her daughter
and her husband all in one day. Jim was not sending her a $500.00 bill
on top of it. It wouldn’t be his style.
Blair was aware that Jim was now awake but left him to do his paperwork,
thinking that was probably the best thing. Keeping him busy wasn’t
always a bad thing.
Before Blair knew it, he looked at his watch and it was time for them to
go home. He’d stayed busy all day long. He looked in and saw
Jim just staring out the window. He walked into the room quietly and
asked “Jim, are you all right?”
“Chief, I don’t understand how someone could hurt their children this way.
We’ve had two cases in two days and both of them had to do with insane fathers.
I find that scary. I don’t know if I want to take anymore missing children
cases.”
“Jim, I realize that you’re upset but if it wasn’t for you, all of the children
that made it out of that madman’s clutches wouldn’t have had a chance.
I think you should keep doing things like you do now. You’re a good
man. You just need some down time. In fact, I have a way to relax
you if you’d like to try tonight.”
Jim gave Blair an odd look and he said, “Come here.”
Blair walked over to him and Jim still sitting in his chair hugged a standing
Blair around the waist, burying his face into Blair’s stomach. Jim
loved Blair’s scent. Blair ran his fingers through Jim’s hair.
Jim said, “how about we close the blinds here and lock up and do some of
that relaxing right now?”
As Blair moved away, Jim stood up, closed the blinds and said, “Want to lock
that front door?”
Blair went out into the main part of the office and locked up tight.
As he walked into Jim’s office, he closed and locked that door, too.
He sure didn’t want anyone walking in on them. He looked over and saw
that Jim’s sofa made into a bed. With a huge smile on his face he said,
“Thinking of everything, eh, hot stuff?”
“Well, I had to sleep here sometimes so I invested in a good sleeper sofa.
Made sense to me.” Jim said logically.
Blair started laughing at Jim’s stab at logic, reminding him of Mr. Spock
and pushed Jim back onto the bed. As Jim went down, he pulled Blair
with him. Both men were laughing by this time. “You laughing
at my love techniques, Blair?”
“Never man, never. I was laughing at your Logical Spock impersonation.”
“What? Want to run that by me again?” Jim asked completely confused.
“Sometimes you just put so much thought into everything. I was kidding
about thinking of everything. Right away you have a whole explanation
as to why you have a sleeper sofa in your office. You crack me up,
tough guy.”
“Well, I don’t want you thinking that anyone has ever slept in it besides
me.” Jim said very seriously.
Blair looked over at Jim and said, “No one has ever spent the night with
you here?” Blair asked incredulously.
“No, never. I’ve never even considered it.” Jim said as he moved closer
to Blair and licked his lips.
Blair sat up, pulled his shirts off, then his shoes, and stood up to take
his pants off. The whole time, Jim was watching him, wanting him more
every minute. “Hey, Jim, wanna actually take some of those clothes
off, or am I going to be the only one naked?”
Jim stood up, took all of his clothing off while Blair lay on the bed and
admired his love. God, Jim was gorgeous. Not that Jim thought
he was but Jim had to know what he did to Blair. Jim got back onto
the bed pulling Blair close to him. They began kissing and rubbing
against each other until Jim pulled back and said, “I really don’t want to
come that way. I want you in me. Fuck me, Blair.”
“Oh yeah, big man, I can do that. I can do that forever.” Blair said
as he started kissing Jim again. Pulling back he said, “Do we have
any lube here or condoms?”
“Shit.” Jim said as he flopped onto his back. “Hang on a minute, Jim.
Don’t give up so easily.” Blair said as he jumped up and ran for his backpack.
In there he found a condom and some lube. “Walla.”
“You're good, Chief, you're very good.” Jim said laughing.
Blair jumped back on the bed and started preparing Jim for a good fucking.
As he stretched him, Jim said, “Fuck me before I come from your fingers.
I want to feel you inside.”
Getting Jim on his hands and knees, Blair put the condom on, put lube on
the condom and slid in a short way, slowing down as Jim’s breathing became
a little louder. Finally, Jim said, “More baby. Now.”
Blair pushed in a little further loving the feel of how Jim’s body seemed
to welcome him. Not just welcome him but hugged him too. Oh
Jesus, don’t think about the hugging part or you’ll come, Sandburg.
“Chief, I want more. Come on, I can take it.” Jim begged. Blair
loved when Jim begged. It just seemed so out of character for Jim.
Yet turned Blair on big time. He pushed his cock into Jim’s ass, hearing
Jim moan in anticipation, not pain. Holding still for a few minutes
he realized it was safe and started moving slowly. As Jim loosened
up a little bit, Blair started pounding into him. He started hitting
Jim’s prostate every single time he went back in. Blair pulled all
the way out and then rammed his way back in, stabbing the prostate.
By this time Jim was screaming, “I need to come Chief, I have to come.”
Blair grabbed Jim’s cock and started stroking along with his slamming into
the big man’s body. Before long, all of about five strokes, Jim came
screaming out, “Blair.” Blair pounded for a few more moments, all of two
more strokes and came into Jim, screaming, “Jim.”
Jim fell down onto the sofa, still breathing very hard and said, “Now that
roll call's finished, can I tell you something?”
Blair started laughing and he said, “Sure, you can tell me anything.”
“I love you.” Jim said simply and firmly. Blair pulled gently out of
Jim, taking the condom off and tossing it in the trash. He pulled Jim
into his arms and said, “I love you, baby. You have no idea what you
do for me.”
“I’m so tired, Chief. Could we nap a short while?” Jim asked.
“Sure, go to sleep, baby. I love you so much, Jim.”
Blair looked over and saw that Jim was already sound asleep. Once Jim
was sleeping hard Blair moved out of bed. He got dressed, got into
Jim’s truck and headed over to the loft to get things for the next day.
At the loft, he packed two bags. One for each of them. He also
remembered to pack some condoms and lube for the office. This brought
a smile to Blair’s face. Who would've thought he’d be with anyone
like Jim Ellison, let alone fucking him. Man, he loved that man. No
one made Blair feel as good about himself as Jim did. Everything about Jim
made Blair tingle.
Once Blair had their clothing, hygiene products and anything else they needed,
Blair closed and locked the loft and drove back to the office. Letting
himself in, he closed and locked the office door, hung up their clothing
and put away their supplies, got naked and climbed into bed with Jim.
Blair pulled the covers up around them and got into the snuggle part of this
as fast as he could. “Jesus, Chief, your feet are freezing. Where
the hell have you been?”
“I went to the loft and picked up our things for tomorrow. I hope you
don’t mind. Now I just want to sleep and cuddle.”
“I can handle that, Chief. I love you.”
“I love you, Jim.” Blair said as he fell into a deep sleep.
Both men were still sound asleep in the morning when the phone rang making
both of them jump. Jim climbed out of bed and answered it. “Ellison
Investigations, may I help you?”
“Hi, Jim, this is Simon. I went by your loft last night but you weren’t
there. Then I remembered that sometimes you slept at the office.
So do you mind if I come by and talk to you?”
“Could you give me a few moments, Simon? I have to shower. I
was sleeping.”
“Sure, I’ll be there in an hour. How's that? Do you have coffee
there or should I pick some up?”
“I have a coffee maker. I’ll start that now. See you in an hour.”
Jim said hanging up the phone.
Blair had a look of horror on his face as he said, I’ll take off and come
in later, okay?”
“No, that’s not okay. If Simon can’t handle me having you here all
night that’s a problem he has to deal with not me.”
“I’ll make the coffee while you shower.” Blair said with a big smile on his
face.
Jim realized it took very little to make this wonderful man happy.
God, Jim only hoped that he’d let him make him happy forever.
“I was hoping you’d come and join me in the shower, Chief. When you’re done
with the coffee.” Jim said as he walked into the bathroom.
“Oh yeah, I can do that.” Blair jumped up, made the coffee, ripped the sheets
off of the bed and made it back into the sofa. Then he was in the shower
about five minutes later.
Jim turned him around and started kissing him.
Blair said, “Jim, this isn’t a good idea. Simon’s going to be
here soon and I really don’t want to be fucking in the shower when he gets
here.”
Jim kissed Blair's neck, moved down and then went down on his knees and took
Blair’s beautiful cock into his mouth and started sucking. Blair held
the back of Jim’s head, trying not to shove his cock all the way down Jim’s
throat. Geeze, he sucks cock so well. I’m not going to last
long. Blair then looked down and saw Jim fisting his own cock.
This made Blair all the hotter. He started saying, “Almost there, Jim.
Almost there. Make me come, baby.”
Jim took his hand that wasn’t busy on himself and finger fucked Blair while
sucking his cock. Blair came with a scream that hurt Jim’s ears but
it wasn’t enough to stop Jim. He kept fisting himself until he came
yelling out Blair’s name.
When Jim got up, Blair hugged him and said, “I love you so much, thank you.”
“What's the thank you for?” Jim asked, wanting to really know why.
“For loving me. You’re my first.” Blair said as he stepped out of the
shower before he could see Jim’s face. Jim smiled and realized that
he and Blair were indeed a good couple.
Jim was dressed and drinking coffee as he walked into the reception area
and Blair was sitting at the desk typing. Jim asked, “So were you able
to find out anything yesterday at the Mental Institution with the employment
records?”
“Yeah, I have a lot to tell you but we were kind of busy last night, so I
figured it could wait till today.” Blair said, looking absolutely glowing.
Jesus, Ellison, get a grip. You’ve been in love before. You
don’t have to think everything he does is perfect. You don’t have to
think he looks perfect. Oh shit, who am I kidding? He is perfect.
He’s a beautiful man, inside and out. Ellison, you’re in love big time.
Now get to work.
“Want to fill me in or do you want me to guess?” Jim said laughing.
“Very funny, tough guy, but I have a list made up. I figured we could
check these people out in the next few days. It’ll take me awhile to
find out when we can talk to them.”
“Okay, Chief. You did a really good job. Thanks.”
“Jim, it’s my job. You don’t thank a person for doing it right.” Blair
said smiling. Just then the office door opened and in walked Simon.
“Good morning, gentlemen. I wondered if you’d found out anything else
about the Turner case yet.” Simon said hopefully.
“Not yet, Simon. We’re going to check out this list Blair has made
up of employee’s of the Mental hospital.”
“So do you have any clue as to when I can close this case? It fucking
pisses me off just to think about it.” Simon growled.
Blair stood up and said, “I’ll start the calls right now and set up the appointments
and we’ll be able to tell you more after that.”
“Thank you, Sandburg. I appreciate all the trouble you’re going through
to help Carol out. She’ll be grateful when she returns.” Simon said
earnestly.
Simon had no idea that it hurt Blair’s feelings. He was doing more
than just making phone calls. Simon was treating him like a fucking
secretary. Sandburg, you are a secretary.
“Simon, did I tell you that Blair is my new partner?” Jim asked quietly.
“Shit, I’m sorry, Sandburg. I had no idea. I thought you were
just a temp.”
“Actually, Simon, I haven’t made up my mind yet about what I want to do.
It might take away too much from my classes at the university. So I’ll have
to think on it.”
Blair looked over at Jim and saw the frown on Jim’s face. He whispered,
“And I’ll talk to you later on, you shit.”
Having heard this, Jim began to smile and Simon wondered what in the hell
he missed.
“Jim, I need to ask you something. It’s beginning to bother me that
you can figure out all these things. We all work our asses off and don’t
have any idea what you’re talking about.” Simon said clearly confused and
frustrated.
“Chief, I think it might be time to fill Captain Banks in on what you told
me.” Jim said.
Blair stood up and said, “I don’t think that’s a good idea, Jim. Not
a good idea at all.” Blair said pacing.
“Calm down, Chief. Simon will keep this to himself. We can trust
him. Can’t we Simon?”
“Of course you can trust me, Jim. You never have to doubt that.
Now tell me, kid.” Simon said sternly.
Blair sat down and started telling Simon all about the senses problems that
Jim was having. Then he went on to tell Simon all about the Sentinel
project that he was studying and how he felt Jim was a Sentinel. Simon sat
there listening but Blair could tell he thought they were all nuts.
“Jim, you’re going to have to prove to him that you can do this. So
show him something.” Blair demanded.
Jim walked over to the window, saw Joel sitting in Simon’s car and said,
“Joel's sitting in your car right now.”
“Jim, Sandburg could have told me that much.” Simon said.
“I wasn’t done yet. He picked up his cell phone. He just dialed
555-1279. He’s talking to someone named Molly and asking her how she
is after the accident. I don’t want to listen to that anymore.
Now he’s hanging up the phone, he’s calling you.” Simon’s phone went off
right at that moment that made both Blair and Simon jump. “Banks.”
Simon said.
“Sir, it’s Joel, I needed to see if there was a problem in there.”
“No, Joel. I’ll be out in a few moments.” Simon said as he hung up
the telephone.
“Simon, Joel's now putting cream and sugar, no, sweet and low in his coffee.”
“Jim, I can’t believe this is happening. You’ll be able to have the
upper hand on many cases. Can I count on you to help me from time to
time?” Simon asked.
“Simon, I’ve always been willing to help you. Even before I knew how
to focus and use these abilities. Now it’s much easier...thanks to Blair.”
“What else can you tell with these senses, Jim?”
“Well, the reason I knew about the man yesterday is because I could hear
his heartbeat beating entirely too hard. He was sweating more than
the average person would in the cool weather. These are things that
I can do now.”
“Oh before I forget, the parents of the little boys in the basement would
like to meet you and thank you in person.” Simon said.
“No.” Jim answered.
“No?” Simon asked.
“That’s what I said. I don’t want to be put in front of those people.
I can’t handle it. I just can’t do it.”
The whole time that Jim and Simon were talking, Blair had gotten on the phone
to make appointments with these men and women on the list. He set up
20 appointments and all in the next two days. “Jim, I have twenty appointments
set up with those employee’s.”
“When?” Jim asked as Blair walked into his office. “All within the
next two days. We’ll have ten today and ten tomorrow.” Blair said.
“Jim, please reconsider meeting those parents.” Simon asked.
“No, Simon. I don’t want to.”
“Okay, well, I’ll let you two get to work. I’ll talk to you later today.”
Simon said walking out of the office.
“What was that all about, Jim? What’s wrong? You’re white as
a sheet.”
“Simon wanted me to meet the parents but I just can’t.”
“That’s understandable. I don’t blame you.” Blair said going over and
rubbing Jim’s shoulders until he started to loosen up and relax.
“When's the first appointment?” Jim asked.
“In about a half hour. Want to lie down and rest?”
“Do I look like I need a nap?” Jim snapped.
“Well, you sound like it. What’s wrong, Jim?”
“I'm tired. I’m tired of dealing with people. I don’t like dealing
with people.”
“Well, Jim, you’re in the wrong line of work then. Lie down for awhile and
I’ll wake you before our appointment.”
“Fine, Chief. Whatever you say.” Jim said angrily and lay down on the
sofa in his office.
Blair was getting a little nervous about things. He was pushing Jim.
He had to stop doing that or he might lose him.
“Blair?” Jim called out.
Blair walked into the office and said, “Yeah?”
“I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. I’m not angry at you. I’m
angry at me. Call Simon and tell him I’ll meet with those parents if
there are no camera’s there. All right?”
“Sure, whatever you say, Jim.” Blair started to walk out of the office and
Jim said, “Come here.”
Blair walked over to the sofa and Jim pulled him down to him and said, “I’m
sorry, baby. I really am.”
“I know, Jim. I’m sorry, too. I was pushing you. I won’t
from now on.” Blair said as he struggled to get up.
Jim could feel the shaking in his partner’s body and said, “Blair, what’s
up? Talk to me.”
“Nothing's up, Jim. Just drop it. I want to get my calls made
before our appointment. Rest for awhile.”
Jim let go of Blair and vowed to talk to him more tonight. However,
for now he just lay back to rest as his friend said. Jim heard the
phone ring and heard Blair say, “No, he’s out right now. Can I take
a message?”
Jim heard his father’s voice on the line and Blair saying, “Yes, Mr. Ellison,
I have it written down. I’ll have him call you as soon as he’s back.”
“Who are you?” Mr. Ellison asked.
“I’m Jim’s new assistant while Carol's out of town.” Blair answered.
“He’s got a man working in his office? Why would he do that?” William
asked.
“Why not, sir? I’m no different than anyone else.”
“Well, I certainly hope not because appearances are everything.” William
said grumpily.
Jim walked into the outer office and grabbed the phone and said, “Hi, Dad.
What do you need?”
“Hi, Jimmy. We were wondering if you’d like to go out for dinner tonight.
I’d like to thank you for all of those things you’ve done for those families
lately. Not to mention I would just like to see you.”
“Sorry, Dad. I have tons to do and I’m meeting with the parents tonight.”
Jim said happy to not have to meet with his father.
“Steven said to tell you that he has someone he wants you to meet. She’s
very pretty he said.” William joked.
“Dad, tell him to not worry about it. I’m seeing someone and it’s serious.”
Blair just stood there with his mouth hanging open, not knowing where to
go or what to do.
“Well, who is it, Jimmy? Anyone we know?” William asked.
“No, Dad, you don’t know him. His name's Blair Sandburg.” Jim said
coldly.
Blair had a feeling he was being used in a tug of war game between the two
men.
“A man, Jimmy? What in the hell are you talking about?” William asked.
“You asked, Dad. I’m telling you the truth. So either put up
with it or don’t. I don’t really much care.” Jim said.
“Is it the man that answered the telephone?” William asked.
“Yes, Dad, it was. Now I have work to do. I have to go.” Jim
said.
“Jimmy, please think about this. It’s probably not the smartest thing
you’ve ever done.” William said.
“Oh I know, Dad. I’m never going to be good enough. Nevertheless,
I’m okay with that. I’ll talk to you later on. Goodbye.” Slamming down the
phone, Jim walked into his office and shut the door.
Blair continued to stand there with his mouth hanging open. What
was that all about? What was Jim doing? Was he insane?
Was William going to hire a hit man to take out his son’s lover? Okay, Sandburg,
you’ve been reading too many cheap novels.
Blair knocked on Jim’s door and Jim didn’t answer so Blair opened it up to
find Jim on his knee’s on the floor, holding his face in his hands.
Blair shut the office door and took Jim into his arms. “It’s okay,
Jim. I’ll be here for you. No matter what happens. I’ll
always be here.”
Jim pulled away and said, “There's someone here. Let me get cleaned
up and then bring them on in.”
“Okay.” Blair said as he stood up and tried not to go back to him when he
saw how sad he looked. Blair walked into the outer office and greeted
the two people that were there.
Jim went into his bathroom, washed his face and brushed his hair. He
looked a little better with that. Blair knocked softly on the door
and handed him his sunglasses to put on. Jim smiled at that especially
since it wasn’t sunny in his office right now.
Jim put them on, walked over to his desk and sat down. He could hear
Blair say, “My partner's suffering a bad headache today so don’t be alarmed
when you see the sunglasses. It’s not a hangover. He suffers
from Migraines.”
“Oh, that’s too bad. Do you want us to come back tomorrow?” the woman
asked.
“No, come on in. Mr. Ellison's ready to talk to you now.” Blair opened
up his door and said, “Mr. Ellison, this is Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hayne.” Then
turning to the couple, Blair said, “Alex and Margaret, this is Jim Ellison.”
“Please sit down and relax.” Jim said softly.
Both of them sat down and were watching Jim like a hawk. “I have some
questions about when you both worked at the Cascade Mental Facility from
1960-1965. Do you recall any of the residents or patients?”
“Well, sure we do. We have worked there most of our lives. In fact,
that’s probably why we’re here. Is it because of Mr. Turner?”
“Margaret, we can’t say much. You know that.” Alex said.
“Well, he can ask some questions and maybe we could just shake our head yes
or no.” Margaret said.
Jim liked her. She wanted to help. “All right, I’ll try not to
keep you too long. Do you remember Mr. Theodore Turner, Sr.?”
Both of them shook their heads yes. Jim went on with the next one,
“Do you recall if he had ever been accused of sexually attacking anyone.
Children or adults?”
Again, both of them shook their heads in the affirmative.
“Was it reported to his doctor?” Jim asked.
“Okay, I’m just going to tell you but I can’t swear to this under oath.
He was brought in because he killed his children by his first marriage. His
second wife put him in there.”
“Was he charged with murdering them?” Jim asked.
“No, he wasn’t. They never found the family. He told the doctor
and all of us that he had killed them. They were evil. Then he
said he planned on cleaning up his new family, too.”
“No one did anything about it?” Jim asked.
“Well, of course we did. We called the wife in. She was warned
and Mr. Turner wasn’t released until a doctor saw fit to say he was sane.”
Mr. Hayne said.
“So this man made these threats and then was let out five years later?” Jim
asked again.
“Yes. He also had to see the therapist twice a week for ten years.
That was part of his parole. He seemed to be doing well. Every
time we saw him he seemed in his right mind.” Margaret said sadly.
“Do you happen to know if any of this was documented?”
“Well, it had to have been. I’m sure it’s there somewhere. Remember
that was a long time ago. Mrs. Turner left her husband and they never got
back together. We’ve heard that he didn’t get close to his son until later
in life.” Mr. Hayne said.
“So he wasn’t around his son while he was young?” Jim asked.
“No. They didn’t even meet until much later in life. We know
young Mr. Turner.” Margaret said.
“Did it ever occur to you to tell him what he had said?” Jim asked.
“No, that wouldn’t be allowed. He paid the price for what he said he
did. They never did find that family of his.” Mr. Hayne said.
“Well, that’s about enough for me. Thank you.” Jim said as he stood
up to shake hands with both of them. Blair then led them out of the
office.
“Chief, could you call and cancel all of the other appointments. It
will be much of the same thing. These people all knew how he was and
what he did. They let him go around his new family. It’s on their
heads too.” Jim said angrily.
“Yeah, I’ll call them right now. You want to call Simon and tell him
about this visit. He might be able to get the records that way.” Blair
suggested.
“Yeah, I’ll call him right now.” Jim said as he picked up the telephone.
While he was waiting on hold, he looked out the window seeing the sun setting
and thinking that it would have been beautiful on another day. Today,
it was ugly and tarnished. Jim found himself very angry with anyone
and everyone that had to do with this case.”
“Banks.” Simon said as he answered the telephone.
“Simon, it’s Jim. I wanted to tell you about the visit we just had with the
Hayne family.” Jim went on to tell Simon the whole story.
Simon said, “I’ll get a warrant and we’ll try to get this out in the open.
This man should have never been allowed to be around those people.
They didn’t even know. It’s a fucking shame.”
“I’m backing out now, Simon. I’ve gotten as close to this as I wanted
to.” Jim said sadly.
“I understand, Jim. Will you have dinner with those families tonight?”
Simon asked.
“Yeah but I want to bring Blair with me. He’ll help me get through
it.” Jim said.
“Is there anything you want to tell me about Blair Sandburg?” Simon asked
with a smile in his voice. However, Jim was too busy being angry to
hear it.
“You have a problem with him, Simon? Because if you do, you don’t have
to come around here anymore.” Jim growled.
“Jim, what in the hell's wrong with you? I like the kid and I think he’s
done wonders with you.”
“Sorry, Simon. This has been the longest fucking day of my life.
I just had a fight with my dad.”
“Oh Oh. That’s not good. Well, you know where I am if you need
to talk to me, right?”
“Yeah, Simon, I do. You’re a very good friend.” Jim said feeling somewhat
ashamed about the way he’d acted earlier.
“Dinner's at Angelo’s at 7:00. Is that all right with you?” Simon asked.
“Yeah, that’s fine. We’ll be there. I’ll talk to you later on. Bye.”
Jim said and hung up the telephone.
Jim walked out to the outer office and said, “Blair, I’d like you to meet
all of my friends this weekend and if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to invite
my brother to meet you also.”
“Jim, that’s great. I’d love to meet everyone. I’d really like
your dad to go with us tonight. Let me call and ask him if he’d like
to meet us there. He should be there to see what his son's being thanked
for.”
“Chief, if you want to, go ahead. I don’t care one way or the other. I just
know that I need you there.”
“There you go with that sweet talk again. I love when you do that.
You’re quite the charmer, Jim Ellison. Why don’t we get out of here
so we can go home, get ready for dinner and just lounge awhile before dinner?”
“Sounds good to me, Blair.” They went around shutting things off, closing
things and locked up before they left. The ride home was quiet.
Neither of them needed to say anything. They both knew what they desired.
Jim really needed to fuck Blair and let him know how much he meant to Jim.
When they got home that's just what they did. Jim fucked Blair hard,
long and well. Jim knew that things would look better tomorrow but,
for right now, in this world of Blair Sandburg loving, things were great.
He loved this man very much.
Tomorrow was another day. How often would Jim and Blair need to say
this?
When they were done fooling around Jim took a short nap. He felt like
a small child these days. He was exhausted. Blair kept telling
him it was his senses being used too much. They’d have to take it easy
from then on. Jim was sound asleep upstairs. Blair loved looking
at him while he was sleeping. He knew that he’d have to wake him up
soon to get ready for dinner. In the meantime, Blair took his shower,
got ready and was on his way up the stairs when someone knocked at the door.
Blair walked back down the stairs and opened the door to a nice looking older
gentleman that Blair figured was William Ellison. Sure enough, he introduced
himself as William.
“So, you’re Blair Sandburg?” William asked.
“Yes, Sir, I am. Listen, I need to wake Jim up. He has to get
ready for the dinner.” Blair said as he started towards the stairs.
William said, “That’s all right. I’ll go up and get him out of bed.”
As he walked up the stairs, Blair was panicky because Jim was lying in bed
naked. What if he stood up without thinking? What if Jim got
pissed off and stood up without thinking?
William stood at the head of Jim’s bed and looked down at his handsome son.
Why would Jim think he needed to be with a man? This was insane.
William would help him see the error of his ways.
“Jimmy, it’s time to get up. It’s dad. Time to get ready for
dinner.” William said softly.
“Hi, Dad. What are you doing up here? Where's Blair?” Jim asked
confused.
“He’s fine, Jimmy. He’s downstairs. It’s time to get up, son.”
William said, going to turn down the covers on the bed. Jim’s hand
stopped his and said, “Dad, I’ll be down in a minute. I don’t have
clothes on right now.”
William’s face turned red and he walked quickly down the stairs. Jim
got up and put his robe on, picked out his clothing for the evening and went
down to the bathroom.
Walking over to Blair, he leaned down and kissed him full on the lips.
Blair’s breath left his chest for a moment. Jim whispered, “It’s okay,
Blair. I love you.” Then he walked into the bathroom and started his
shower.
William was pissed. Blair could read it in his body language.
One nice thing about being an anthropologist was how you could size up people
fairly well. William Ellison looked on the verge of knocking Blair’s
head right off his shoulders.
“Mr. Sandburg, could I ask you what you plan on getting out of this?
Jimmy won’t stay with you for long. He never lasts with anyone too
long. Then he’ll dump you just like he did everyone else. He even left
his wife and gave up all hopes of having a family.”
Jim stormed out of the bathroom, naked, and said, “Don’t you fucking bring
Carolyn up in my home. Do you understand? She left me.
I didn’t leave her. I was having problems and she didn’t stick around.
Not the other way around. As far as Blair goes, I don’t ever want him
to leave. I know I won’t leave unless he makes me.”
William said calmly, “Jimmy, you’re naked. Why not get dressed and
we’ll have this conversation.”
“See, that’s the difference between you and me, Dad. I’m not into the
look of things. I wouldn’t have noticed that I had no clothing on.
I bet Blair didn’t even notice. He was probably upset instead about
me fighting with my dad. I’ll have you know it was his idea to invite
you tonight. If you don’t want to go with us, stay home, I don’t care.”
“Jimmy, I’ll try. I promise. Now go and get dressed or we’ll
be late.” William said.
Jim turned and walked into the bathroom and slammed the door. Blair
paced in front of the balcony doors. “May I call you William, Mr. Ellison?”
“Yes, that’s my name. That would be fine.” He answered.
“William, I really want Jim to be happy. I’d love his life to be without
a lot of strife. He has enough things going on right now. He
doesn’t need that. I’d like to call a truce.”
“Fair enough, Mr. Sandburg.” William said.
“Please call me Blair. Everyone else does.”
Inside the bathroom Jim found himself smiling. Blair would probably
win William Ellison over. Blair was like that. He’d talk anyone
into anything. He was wonderful. Ellison, you have it so bad.
You’re in love big time.
When Jim came out of the bathroom he was all dressed and ready to go.
They agreed to meet there since Jim wanted to drive himself.
Once inside the truck, Jim said, “Blair, have I told you lately how much
I love you?”
“No, not in the last hour at least.” Blair said laughing. He reached
over and rubbed his hand over Jim’s cock.
Jim said, “Chief, don’t do that. I’ll burst. I’m so horny right
now and I don’t know why.”
“Okay, I don’t want you coming in your pants and having your dad ask why
your pants are wet.” Blair said laughing heartily.
“Blair, please help me stay focused on this. I really don’t want to
be here and I have to tell you I ‘m scared to death.”
“Things will be fine, Jim. You just wait and see. The night will
fly by and if you’re a good boy I’ll fuck you so hard, you won’t be able
to sit for a week.”
“Jesus, Blair. Is this your idea of helping me not come in my pants.
It's not working. I’m hard as a rock and ready to blow.”
Blair bent over and took Jim’s cock out of his slacks and started sucking
on him. Jim was so close he knew it wouldn’t take long at all.
“Chief, suck me hard. Make me come now.”
Jim came to a red light, Blair sucked three times and Jim came with a shout.
“Thanks, Chief. I needed that. God, you make me feel good.”
Blair tucked Jim back into his pants and said, “Anytime, hot shot, and I
do mean hot shot.” Blair said smiling.
“You’re going to be the death of me, aren’t you?” Jim asked laughing.
“But what a way to go, right, Jim?”
“Oh yeah.” Jim replied.
After they parked at the restaurant, they got out and walked up to the front
door. There they waited for his dad. Jim said, “My dad hung back
while you were blowing me. I think he knew what we were doing. That’s
why he’s not here yet.”
“Oh shit, Jim. Why didn’t you tell me?” Blair said mortified about
having Jim’s dad know he’d blown him in the truck.
“Besides the obvious reason that I was enjoying the hell out of it?
Do I look insane, Chief?”
“Well, that’s a loaded question.” Blair said laughing.
William walked up to them and he stared hard at Jim and said, “Was that worth
being caught, Jimmy?”
“Yeah, it was, Dad. It really was.” Jim said and walked into the restaurant.
Blair started to follow him but William said, “Don’t ever do that again.
He’ll embarrass his whole family. He might not care but his brother
will.”
“I understand, sir.” Blair said.
Jim walked back outside and said, “Dad, he can blow me anytime I let him.
Better yet, anytime he wants to. I’ll be damn happy to let him do it.
Now let's get inside and get this over with.”
“Blair, don’t you ever tell him you’ll change for him. Do you understand?”
Jim said angrily.
“Yeah, Jim. I got it now. I’m going to be the person that you
and he use back and forth like a yo-yo. I’m not crazy about that idea at
all.” Blair said as he walked over to where Simon was sitting.
“Dad, don’t ever do that again. This is my life. He’s my lover.
Leave him alone.”
“Jimmy, what's wrong with you? You don’t date guys. Now suddenly
you’re not only dating one but he’s blowing you in the car while you’re driving.
This is not the Jim Ellison I raised.”
“I know...ain’t it cool?” Jim said as he sat next to Blair.
“Why are you quoting a line from a John Travolta movie? “ Blair asked.
“Because I can. I wanted to and I did.” Jim said smiling.
Once the families got there, they were busy meeting everyone, talking to
each family member and finally trying to eat. Even though Jim wasn’t
a bit hungry. Meeting the people just made it too real. Then
as a surprise they brought in the children to meet the man that saved their
lives. Jim was totally freaking out. He kept backing away from
the kids.
“Jim, what’s wrong?” Blair asked concerned for Jim’s welfare.
Jimmy, stop acting like that. You need to make these children feel
like they’re not dirty.”
Jim stared at his dad and said, “I’ll meet the kids in the banquet room by
myself. I don’t want any adults other than Blair in there with me.”
Everyone left except Simon, Jim and Blair. The children all stood there
looking at the floor. Jim finally said, “I know that this is scary.
It is for me, too. I don’t know what to say or do. I hate that.”
One of the boys said, “Thank you, Mr. Ellison, for bringing us back home.”
“You’re very welcome but it was my job. I want you all to know that
you can call me anytime you need any help.”
“Thanks.” All of the children said at the same time.
Jim said, “Lets go back outside and have some dessert. I don’t know
about you but I hear they make great hot fudge sundae’s here.”
They all walked out and Simon said, “Blair, is something wrong with Jim?”
“His dad found out about us and he’s fighting Jim on it. Jim’s not
taking it lying down. I’m right in the middle. Then I think he
feels guilty for the kids he didn’t save. That’s why he freaked out
at first. That’s just a guess, though.”
“Well, just take care of him, Blair. I’m sure everything will work
out.” Simon said as they walked back out into the dining room. Sitting
down, Jim took hold of Blair’s hand under the table and squeezed it hard.
Blair could feel the tremor’s going through Jim’s body and knew the turmoil
he was suffering.
When all was said and done, they left and Jim said, “Bye, Dad. We’ll
see you next week for dinner if you still want to.”
“Okay, I’ll call you or Steven will.” William said. He walked to his
car and didn’t even say goodbye to Blair. Blair was crushed but tried
to stay upbeat.
When they got into the truck Jim said, “I’m sorry he’s such an ass.
He could have at least said goodbye to you. If it helps, you kept me
together all night long. I love you so much, baby.”
“Thanks for understanding everything I feel, Jim. I was glad to help
you get through that stuff. I’ll be around a long, long time.” Blair
said smiling.
Jim leaned over and turned the radio on and there was a song playing that
was somewhat sappy. Jim started singing along with it, to Blair.
Blair almost laughed except that it was the most romantic thing he’d ever
had done for him. “Jesus, you a romantic at heart, aren’t you?”
“Well, I try to be. I’m crazy about you, Blair.”
“Jim, I need to talk to you about a few things.” Blair said seriously.
“Okay, you’ve got my attention.” Jim said, turning scared eyes to Blair.
“Hey, hot shot, nothing's wrong. Don’t panic unless I tell you to.
I just wanted to tell you about my upcoming schedule next week, for teaching.”
“Christ, I’m so glad to hear that. I was worried there for a second.”
Jim said.
“Well, I have to teach from 8:00 till noon, Monday through Friday.
So, I can’t be at the office then. I think we might need someone to
work part time. What do you think of that idea?”
“Sure. Why don’t you set it up. You can be in charge of who it
is.” Jim said.
“Good because I sure as hell don’t want just anyone hanging out with you
all week long.” Blair said laughing.
“Now that sounds about right. Whatever you need to do, that’s fine.
I’m easy.” Jim said.
“Tell me about it.” Blair answered.
Jim smacked him on the shoulder as they both laughed.
When they got to the loft, there was a blinking light on the phone.
Jim played it, hearing Carol’s voice saying, “Jim, just wanted you to know
that I’ll be back tomorrow. My dad came back to Cascade with me.
So, I won’t need all that time off after all. Talk to you tomorrow.”
Blair’s face fell when he heard the message as he walked through into the
kitchen and got he and Jim a beer. “Well, that’s good to know that you won’t
have a stranger in the office after all.”
“Blair, I want you to still consider the partnership with me. You can
do both the university and my office. I guess it would be our office
then.”
“Jim, I really think you should give that a little more thought.” Blair said,
trying to be logical.
“Now is that your impression of Spock?” Jim said laughing.
“Very funny. Yes, I’ll do it. But only part-partner.”
“Sounds good to me. You can work with me whenever you aren’t teaching
or correcting papers. Do you have any that need to be done tonight?”
“As a matter of fact, I’m really behind. I was going to fuck you senseless
and then stay up all night and make up the questions for the big test. “
“Blair, I’ll help you do the test. How does that sound. Then
we can just sleep. I’m tired, you’re tired, and we both need sleep.
We can fuck anytime, right?”
“Well, that's very easy for you to say, Mr. Ellison. You got yours
taken care of in the truck earlier. I, on the other hand, didn’t.
I’m hard as a rock just thinking about you.”
Jim got up, yanked Blair up and drug him up the stairs saying, “I would love
you to fuck me senseless.”
Jim stood at the foot of the bed and started taking his clothes off.
Blair followed suit. Before long, the two men lay in bed naked and
happy just rubbing up each other. For a change, Blair felt good about
taking his time. He moved down Jim’s body slowly, licking and kissing
every part that was in his line of fire. When he got to Jim’s gorgeous cock,
he started licking it and teasing Jim. “You have a beautiful cock,
did you know that?” Blair asked.
“Blair, could you put yours up here for me? I want to lick at the same time.”
Blair moved into the ‘69’ position, loving the feel of Jim’s mouth on his
cock at the same time he was putting his own on Jim’s cock.
Blair started sucking harder and harder and Jim was screaming out Blair’s
name as he came. Blair gave him a few minutes and then started sucking
on it again. “Blair, I’m not superman, you know.”
Blair moved over Jim so that his cock was hanging down over Jim’s face and
mouth. Jim couldn’t pass it up. He had to start licking that
ass. God, I can’t believe I’m doing this. I would have never
dreamed that this would be possible. He tastes and looks wonderful.
As he started licking Blair’s delightful ass, the younger man watched that
magnificent cock of Jim’s come back to life very quickly. He continued
sucking on Jim while the older man just kept licking and sucking on Blair.
When Jim slid his tongue inside of Blair he let out this little squeal letting
his lover know it was perfect.
When Blair started getting too close he pulled away from Jim and said, “All
right, buster, I get to fuck you. I meant it.”
“How do you want me?” Jim asked.
“Hands and knee’s.” Blair commanded. As Jim got on his hand and knees, Blair
started biting the big man’s magnificent ass. Jim was gasping like
Blair had never heard before. He swore each time they made love Jim
got more boisterous. It was like Jim was finally letting go.
Blair reached over for the lube and condoms and got busy getting Jim prepared.
Once Jim was loosened up Blair started sliding into the big man, little by
little. Blair knew he had to go slow or he would hurt his lover.
So, slow he did. His lover wasn’t that excited about that. A begging
Jim was quite the turn on.
As Blair pounded into Jim he asked him whom he belonged to. Jim of
course screamed out, “Only you, Blair. Only you. I love you” and he
came hard.
Blair started fucking Jim harder than he ever thought he could. Finally,
he came and fell on top of Jim. Both men lay getting themselves together.
Once they could breathe normally again, Jim said, “Chief, do you want to
have everyone over this weekend?”
“You really want me to meet everyone as your lover?”
“Oh yeah. I want them all to know how much I adore you. I can’t
wait for them all to meet you.”
“And what about your dad, Jim?”
“We’ll cross that when we come to it. Don’t worry about it now.” Jim
said trying to calm Blair.
“What about your brother?” Blair asked.
“He’ll be fine. He wants me to be happy. So does my dad.
They’ll both be fine. You have quite the way with people. I figure
that if dad spent enough time with you he’d be won over in no time.”
“So, you still want me to be your partner in all things?” Blair asked.
“Yeah, you know I do.” Jim answered.
Blair started falling asleep. Jim pulled him in closer. He used
his tee shirt to wipe off his come and then cleaned Blair off. Blair
continued to sleep right through it.
Jim watched him sleep for a while and smiled at his new life. His new
love. His new chance at love and life. Things really were going to
be all right. Blair was right. Tomorrow was always another day.
Nine times out of ten, it was brighter. This would be Jim’s new motto.
He totally loved this man.
As he fell asleep, Jim knew that things would work out between them.
The nicest thing about he and Blair, was his not being the Lone Ranger any
longer.
Life was good... but love was even better.
