"Fun" is surely Elaine's byword. Under the auspices of the Gloucester Music Teachers Association, Elaine is going to present a workshop that will involve the audience and slay some off the dragons that lurk in the novel sounds, techniques and writing of contemporary music. Tickets at the door. Adults $12. Full time students $5. MARC DURAND MASTERCLASS Sunday 28 March 1 pm to 5:30 pm Prof Marc Durand will offer a one hour workshop for teachers and students and a three hour Masterclass. Since he plans to teach intensively (30 minutes for a 5 minute selection, 45 minutes for a 10 minute piece and 60 minutes for a 15 minute selection), the number of students playing will probably be limited to between 3 and 5. Students at Grade Ten and Associate or above levels are invited to apply. I think it goes without saying that the selections should be at performance level of a high calibre so that participants and audience can derive the most benefit from Prof Durand'S teaching. Please submit your students' names and a list of the pieces (with timings) they are prepared to play to Joan Klenavic ([email protected] or Fax 824-3053 or by mail or phone) before 29 January. The fee for student performers will be $50. Proceeding one step at a time, we will establish a selection process after we avow the number of students who are interested and prepared to play for Prof Durand. Prof Durand is highly respected and in great demand. His workshop and Masterclass promise to be stimulating and rewarding. Please notify your students early of the 28 March date so that as many as possible can attend. STUDENTS' RESULTS Mary Orrs
