Education Student Achievements |
Two students of Mary Orr's, left, were awarded Royal Conservatory of Music silver medals for receiving the highest marks in Ontario during the 1997 piano exams. Ye Yuan scored highest in grade three piano and Jenny Zhao came first in grade seven. Ye, a Grade 4 student at D. Roy Kennedy Public School, also won several awards in the Kiwanis Music Festival and was the plaque and scholarship winner in intermediate piano at the Laurentian Junior Music Club. Jenny, in Grade 9 at Canterbury High School, also won numerous awards at the Kiwanis Festival and the Laurentian plaque and scholarship at the senior level. Citizen photograph by Pat McGrath |
