I also had the children's church program. My youngest sister Ruthann was in the class. At this time I would go the YMWCA (Young Men Women's Chistian Association) twice a week. Tuesdays were Square Dancing and Fridays were social dancing. After I left Blums, I worked at the 8th Avenue Day Nursery for a year. This was the same Nursery Millie and I brought my brothers to and later my brothers brought Ruthann to. Here I discovered I loved working with children. Unfortunately, I did not like working with my co-worker. Found out that nobody ever got along with her and I was no exception. So as much I as I liked working with the kids, I quit after a year. Then got a job at Grace Homes Club Plan, a mail order business, and worked there until after I got married. My brother Sonny and I used to attend the young adult groups of about three different churches. We spent a lot of time going to the same activities even though there was a five-year difference in our ages. When he went into the Army, we had a party for him in our backyard. Several people came from the all the different groups. I wrote to him and always ended my letters by saying "read your Bible and pray every day". Many years later when he died, I found these letters. He had saved them all. I attended National Bible Institute in New York City from 1948 to 1951. It later became Shelton College. I graduated from the evening school with the regular day students. When it became a college I was able to get college credits for the courses I took. Also when I was a nursery school teacher, went one semester to Rutgers College evening school for a class on young children. On Sunday, June 19, 1955, I was visiting the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield. After the evening service the young adults were invited to Ken Sewells home for a fellowship time. This was when a mutual friend Janet introduced me to Marty. He had just gotten out of the Air Force a few days earlier. It was certainly not love at first sight.
