I saw my wife Mary for the first time at a young adults gathering. I could not take my eyes off of her. I pursued her for over a year. Then we got married. If I knew married life was going to be so good I would have married her much sooner.
When we got married I was making $57.50 a week. But in those
days we were able to pay the rent, do meat shopping at a
butcher shop, purchase the rest of the groceries . . . and
still had some change left over.
I can go on and on but to sum it up: I was born in Newark,
New Jersey and raised in Belleville. Graduated
High School and went into the Air Force. After the Service
I visited the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield on
June 19, 1955. That same night my future wife was also
visiting the same church and a mutual friend introduced
us. I got married a year and a half later. We lived in
Newark for a short time, and then moved to Kearny. My
three children were born in Newark and raised in Kearny.
While living in Kearny, I was a foster father to 24
children.
Through the years, I have been active in three
churches, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Newark, Kearny
Evangelical Free Church, and now the Ocean County Evangelical
Free Church in Lakehurst. I have also been active in the
Hudson Camp and currently Ocean County South Camp of the
Gideons International.
Retired from the Post Office after 31 years and moved to
the retirement community of Holiday City, Toms River.
I have made it to: grandpa and great grandpa.
