My mother and I used to take the train to a place called South Beach. I recall the hot sand . . . and the giant horse flies. I used to swim so far out the lifeguard would blow his whistle for me to get closer to the shore.
Back home my friends and I would go out at night. We knocked over
garbage cans and threw rocks at street lights to break the bulbs
and watch the sparks fly down. We also threw snowballs at the buses
going by on Center Street in Nutley.
I rode my bike through all the parks in Nutley. I also biked into
Newark way up behind Penn Station, up Wilson Avenue and around
High Street.
Every time I saved up 75 cents I would go to the corner store on
Harrison Street and Franklin Avenue in Nutley and get a vanilla
milk shake. How I loved those milk shakes . . . and still do!
The winter in Korea was extremely cold. I had a jeep at my
disposal and we drove all over South Korea. It was there that
I accepted Jesus Christ as personal Savior. A group of us
GIs (government issue) used to go into town teaching Bible
to the locals.
