Dont let yesterday fly and pass me by..
What were the choices in a litter of ten?
One rowdy, a few stirring, most asleep.
One could tell he stood apart even then.
It was this one, with the rowdy heart;
the one sent to ease our pain
On the day God chose for mom to depart.
This Rott-n-Lab, with his love and affection,
our days he consumed.
His character and traits were near perfection.
Human tricks he learned, oh sure.
But done in his style;
this was his lure.
Fetch, oh yes.. lots of balls and sticks.
And what he returned
were wet kisses.. with his big o' licks.
Speak, shake, and lots more
There were high-fives, in the hole,
with a tootise roll on the floor.
Walks in the neighborhood,
going for rides and a swim in the lake,
his moments which made him feel good.
All was not games, for he had his chores.
To daily check the mail and help take out empty cans.
And at night he stood guard at our doors.
The hours and days did go by
As weeks turned into months and years.
"Peanut, ya big ol lug.".. oh how they did fly.
