Istanbul....
| It was no secret that I loved Istanbul! I thought it was truly one of the most incredible cities that I have ever seen. I loved the way its history came together with the modern world...case in point! | |
| Living in Bahrain you see a lot of mosques, I had heard a lot about the blue mosque in Istanbul and it did not disappoint! | |
| Right across the way from the blue mosque is the Aya Sophie. This has been a major church, then a major mosque, then nothing and is now a museum. Here dad makes his wish for what was supposed to be good weather, I have a suspicion however that it had more to do with the 2001 Blue Jays. I must admit that the weather after this day improved 200 per cent! | |
| This was the palace that the Ottoman Sultan moved to when he left Topika Palace. It was incredibly beautiful! Note the blue sky - this was on our way back through Istanbul and dad's wish was apparently in full effect! | |
| The Grand Bazaar...do you know my mom? If you do I don't think
that I need to tell you that this was her own personal Turkish
Mecca. We spent two days there!
"Sir would you like to look at just one more carpet?" "AHHHH!" |
|
| After a whole week of looking, and a grand total of about ten thousand
carpets viewed. They decided on the first one that they had
seen. It is a beauty!
The woman on the left is Su a friend of friend who became our friend in only a day. Thank-you so much Su! |
|
| The sunset as we reentered Istanbul, it was sooo beautiful! If this were the real picture you could see the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia and so much more on the skyline...to bad...for you. |
