| OK, it's VW 1600 4-stroke engine. 2 Mikuni carburetors, electric ingnition and 20 amp alternator build in engine case. It also has oil cooler and starter coming. I hope that it puts out some 55...60 hp, it should be quite optimum for this plane. Anyways it is easy to make bigger if more hp is needed. Some of you might think that this is too heavy for S-Koala, but I know Koalas that have even Continentals, so that about it. I bought this engine new as it is and it's made here in Finland. Very simple engine and should be quite reliable. This was one big issue for me, I just don't want to install 2-stroke. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Because this is one of a kind engine installation it must be stress tested. In these two pictures fuselage is hanging from wing and wing support attachments. Then I tried to pull engine all directions out of fuselage. That green little thing is weight measuring device. Engine installation is TESTED to +6G and -3G. If you are familiar with S-Koala you maight notice some beefing up on firewall area. That's for this little heavier engine. I think that my front fuselage is little overkill, but at least it's strong. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Here is firewall forward nearing completion. Exthaus system is own desing, kind of a copy from Falke. I'm not sure if these are final exthaus pipes but at least for testruns they are good enought. For those who are interested this firewall forward weights some 75kg / 165lbs without starter. Building log shows 886 hours at that time. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
