Yearbook Production/Desktop Publishing

This class is a production-based class exploring the world of contemporary graphic design and desktop publishing.  Students will learn a wide-range of advanced skills including; electronic imaging, typography, digital photography, journalism, and advertising to ultimately produce the Edison Wizard Yearbook, a tradition since 1924.   

Instructional Units:

� Introduction to Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop
� Fundamentals of design and page layout
� Applying design fundamentals to yearbook page layouts
� Fundamentals of digital photography
� Electronic digital imaging including scanning, formatting and Photoshop techniques
� Digital image transfer and archiving
� Journalism�interviewing, story writing, proof reading, and editing
� Business�advertising sales, marketing, invoicing, and bookkeeping
� Careers and Post-Secondary opportunities in Graphic Design

Yearbook class includes a tour of the local printing company as the yearbooks are printed.
