The year is 1986, the location is Yokosuka Japan. It's a usual, tranqil day in the life of Ryo Hazuki, but suddenly it is forever shattered by the unexpected arrival of unwanted visitors. A man wearing dark green Chinese clothes appeares at the Hazuki family home, followed closely by black-suited thugs. Known as Lan Di, he uses his knowledge of the almighty Kung-Fu and kills Ryo's father, Iwao, taking away a mysterious mirrior which he clearly came for. Vowing to seek revenge, Ryo embarks on a journey to find his father's killer, but to no avail.
Later, Ryo is given a letter addressed to his late father, The letter was sent by a man named Yuanda Zhu and warned of danger, but also told of a person that could be relied on if something happened. This person was called Master Chen and Ryo was eager to find him. He explained to Ryo that Lan Di was one of the leaders of Chiyoumen, and based on the fact that he had already uptained one of the sacared mirriors, he was likely to be in search of the other, as together they made a pair.
Ryo eventully found the mirror, also known as the Phenoix Mirror, but was still eager to seek Lan Di and advenge his father's death. Master Chen told of news that Lan Di had left for Hong Kong, so Ryo decided to pursue, but an unknown attacker decided to make his move and punish Ryo once and for all. Strong willed and fighting off his attacker, Ryo also came face to face with the Mad Angles, who were closlely connected with the Chiyoumen. With the help of Guizhang Master Chen's son, they put an end to the wrath of the Mad Angles. Master Chen then gave Ryo a letter, which introduced him to a man named Lishao Tao, he would help once Ryo departed for Hong Kong.

Shenmue is without a doubt one of the best games I have ever played. Everything from the graphics to the storyline to the minigames, all these quantinties and more are what make Shenmue so great in my opinion.
Graphics:
Shenmue is a really beuatiful and realistic game, everything and one in the game are so detailed that the game looks almost life like. The days could start as a cool refreshing winter morning and eventulltly it would change as time goes by. When it rains....it rains.When it snows....it snows. Here in this world life is meaningful just like ours. There are people gossiping, shop owners selling there meachandise..... I think you get the idea ; )

Music:
The Music in this game is absolutly excellent. Not once did I have to mute my tv or turn the sound down. The music in the game is very rememberable and will get stuck in your head. Also it is very appropriate for the setting........it sounds very japanese.

Story:
The year is 1986 and everything is going as ussal for Ryo Hazuki that is........until he returns to home only to discover a black car parked in front of it. Ryo then discovers that the black car belongs to a man named Lan Di and two black-suited thugs who broke into the Hazuki dojo looking for a item called the dragon mirror. When Ryo enters the dojo he and his father are attacked by Lan Di, and as Ryo was down on the ground he witnessed Lan Di kill his father before his very eyes and then leave takeing the dragon mirror with him. And because of this Ryo vows that he will get revenge for his father's murder....and with this set and done, you spend the rest of the game searching for clues of Lan Di's current location. The story is very interesting to say the least and will keep you entertained plently.

Fun Factor:
The main story can tend to be a little slow paced and boring at first ,but when you get to disk three thats a different story.But until then you can drink soda ,buy toys,food, and all other kinds of shit,play arcade games(such as Space harrier and Hang-On) and even play with a kitty!....................................... (I'm serious) : \
