About Me





Sister (Dr.) Victoria Marie, teaches social justice courses at St. Mark’s College and sociology courses at the University College of the Fraser Valley, is a community researcher, local activist and Vancouver Catholic Worker. Her social justice work and interests have taken her to Colombia with Witness for peace and in the 1990s to Kenya and Mexico. In March 2006, Dr. Marie participated in a Christian Peacemaker Team delegation to Kenora and Grassy Narrows (Ontario) to learn more about Aboriginal human rights issues.

    Faith in Action

Victoria is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Joy. She worked in parish ministry as the coordinator of adult religious education for six years in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Mary's Pence. Victoria also serves on the Steering Committee of the Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT). She served on the Advisory Committee on Diversity Issues to the City of Vancouver (2004-2007) and she is active in the peace and non-violence movements.
