My mum died after 48 years of life on this earth and almost two years of battle with cancer (breast, bone, lung and brain). She faced it with strength, courage and unwavering faith in God. Though her body grew weak, her heart remained strong in the Lord. Towards the last days, she just wanted to be with Jesus. She wanted to go. And the Lord wanted her with Him. A friend of ours read this verse the morning my mum passed on, "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory." (John 17:24)

I knew her for 22 years. She was really one of my best friends. We would talk all the time. There was such a freedom to speak from the heart and have a listening ear in return. I was amazed at her wisdom. Often I quote her when praying or giving advice to others. I think that is what I will miss most. Just talking to her. Going shopping with her and chatting constantly.

My consolation is that she is with the Lord. That her battle with cancer is over, though not necessarily with the end that we had in mind. She is free, she is happy, she will never be in pain. Her vision has been restored, her head is light, she is with her Lord. And we will see her again. Some day, we will all be together.

I love you mum.
