Mardelle's Place
Bronze
portraits.
"Nostalgia"
This is a life size sculpture. It is 20
inches in height above the wood base. I created him
from my imagination after studying historical documents
and the work of pioneer and contemporary photographers.
I designed the buffalo robe and bear claw jewelry in
keeping with tradition. Several months passed before I
actually saw a man in person who could have been my
model.
"Winter Chill"
This was actually a kind of self portrait in
spirit. I did not reproduce my features exactly.
It represents a pioneering woman braving the elements.
Many new experiences in life require that kind of
fortitude.
I have survived the winters.
"New Beads"
I actually saw this little girl in the
audience of an outdoor band concert.
She was listening to the concert very intently.
Now she listens to my baby grand.
