April 23, 2003 Mardy defeated S.Roitman (ARG) 6-3, 6-3 in the first round, and Mardy and Andy defeated the number three seeds, Sebastian Prieto and Andre Sa 6-1, 6-2. Now Mardy plays Luis Horna in singles and Andy and Mardy take on fellow Americans, Jim Thomas and Brian Vahaly! GOOD LUCK! April 15th, 2003 Tennis Magazine featured Mardy in this month's issue, he's named the player "on the move" for the month.. It has James Blake on the cover, it's the May issue. This is his first ATP final. He faces Jan-Michael Gambill. Good luck Mardy! March 7th, 2003 Mardy now moves into the semifinals of Delray Beach. He defeated Alberto Martin 6-3, 6-3. He now faces Marcelo Rios, who has yet to lose a hard court match this year. An article is available here. March 6th, 2003 Congrats to Mardy who moves into his third quarterfinal of the year! After rallying back to defeat Andy Roddick in a tie-break in the first set, Mardy quickly took control of the second set, when Andy rolled his ankle and was forced to retire. Last week in Sydney, Australia in the Adidas International, Mardy defeated Richard Krajicek, and third seed Carlos Moya on the way to the third round. Unfortunately, he lost to Rainer Schuettler in the third round, but it was a great effort by Mardy. Currently, in the Australian Open, Mardy defeated Johansson of Sweden, 6-3, 7-5, 6-2. Mardy then defeated Carlos Moya AGAIN, this time in five sets. 3-6, 7-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Now Mardy goes on to face Wayne Ferreira. GOOD LUCK MARDY! January 8th, 2003 Hey Fish fans! I don't know if you guys have heard this yet, BUT...MARDY BEAT MOYA! He took out the third seed in three sets. The score was 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-4. Way to get the job done, Mardy! He made it through qualifiers, defeating quite a few good players on the way. Last night, he had a victory over Richard Krajicek, 7-6(0), 6-4. Sorry for the lack of updates, but we're making it up to you with TONS of the latest Mardy news, a kind of end-of-the-year wrap-up!!! In case you didn't know, Mardy has been a finalist in the last FOUR challenger events! He was the finalist in the Tyler, TX...Knoxville, Bronx and San Antonio Challengers. Mardy was the champion in the San Antonio Challenger and also in the Bronx Challenger. This makes Mardy's Challenger record an impressive 18-2. He made the quarterfinals of The TD Waterhouse Cup (the warm-up tournament for the US Open) Also, he made it to the second round in the US Open. Last week, ATP tennis named Mardy "mover of the week" aknowledging his current 81 ranking. Check out what Mardy will be up to here. November 12, 2002 News from Knoxville! Mardy won his match against Hamid Mirzadeh! The score was 7-6, 6-0...way to finish it off Mardy! Congrats! Mardy will play the winner of Kevin Kim vs. Hugo Armando. Also, he is at the bottom of the draw because he is the second seed. He's the second seed in doubles as well with partner, Thomas Blake and their first match is against Rea/Detrich. G'luck Mardy! November 10, 2002 Right now Mardy is participating in the UT/USTA Men's Pro Challenger Event starting today through Sunday at the University of Tennessee's Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center. You can read a little article about it here. November 3, 2002 Mardy defeated Mario Recic in the semifinals 6-3, 6-0. Sadly, he was defeated by Paul Goldstein 7-6 (4) 4-6, 3-6 in the finals. October 21, 2002 Hey guys! Here's the deal...the Davis cup pictures are now up so go look at those! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT take them...okay? So Mardy left this Saturday for San Antonio. Here is the draw for the San Antonio challenger: click here. It starts today and goes till the 27th of October. Mardy is seeded second and is playing wildcard, Alex Bogomolov, Jr. in the first round. Mardy is not playing doubles in this tournament. October 16, 2002 Hi Fish Fans! Here is your latest, exclusive update on Mardy! Right now he is practicing in Tampa, but is leaving on Saturday morning for the San Antonio and Tyler challengers in Texas. After that he has more practicing in Tampa followed by many, many more challengers and various tournaments. His next big tournament he is looking forward to is the Australian Open in January.
