WELCOME TO NORTH FLORIDA

Leon County offers a unique mix of science, technology, nature, education and culture. Located in the big bend area of the Florida panhandle, Leon County is home to Florida's state capital as well as Florida State and Florida A&M Universities. Visitors will find an area rich in history - from restored historical homes and buildings to the Civil War site of the Battle of Natural Bridge. Nature lovers will appreciate the canopied roads, miles of trails for hiking and biking, and the Apalachicola National Forest.

This is the Old Capitol building.

The Maclay Plantation ~ Our kind of gardens.

The Florida State University is a public and coeducational institution. It is a senior member of the ten state universities that comprise the State University System of Florida. What a beautiful entranceway to the home of the two-time National Champion Seminoles football team. FSU is also home to one of the best Schools of Music in the country.

As we leave FSU, take a quick look at Landis Hall. It's the Honors & Scholars dorm where my daughter Jaime lived while pursuing her degree. She is now a music educator and we're so proud of her!

FAMU sits upon the tallest of 7 hills in Tallahassee, and is home to the Rattlers. The FAMU Marching "100" continues to perfect its legacy of excellence, which has resulted in it being labeled as "Best Marching Band in the Nation" by Sports Illustrated (August, 1992).

We're going to park the Chevy for a bit so y'all can stretch your legs. Please take advantage of this time to bike along the St. Marks trail, go canoeing at Wakulla Springs, or sit beside the peaceful Suwanee River.

Fasten your seatbelts please. We're going to meet HELEN at the intersection of Hwy. 90, I-75 & I-10. HELEN will take us east on I-10 to Jacksonville. Oooooh, be quiet so we don't disturb these beautiful deer.
