The newest additions to my family, Thelonious and Edwina.
Born in April of 2004, this brother and sister team joined me in my humble abode two days after I returned from South Africa.
Their mother was a stray found in someone's backyard. They spend most of their time exploring the many rooms in my enormous apartment
(kitchen, hallway, bathroom, hallway, living room, hallway, kitchen, hallway, living room...you get the idea).
They adore each other and are always getting into trouble together.
I had originally only planned on adopting Thelo, but the woman insisted they leave the litter in pairs.

So, I like to say, Thelo was planned, but Edwina was an accident.

Here they are, up close and personal:

Me holding Edwina (left) and Thelonious (right),
while simultaneously trying to dodge a curious paw aimed at my hair.
Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) is a cat toy.

Thelonious ("Thelo" for short) likes to hang out underneath my art cabinet.
Toys get stuck under there, so there's always a treasure to be found.
He can only be coaxed out by bribery (in this case, his favorite toy).
Thelo is named after the Monk, though, since he entered into my life, he's shown very little interest in music,
and been more passionate about things like kitten chow and scratching posts.

"Little green mouse! Oh, li'l green mouse!"
Edwina's favorite toy. She carries it around the apartment with her.
Edwina was named by the woman who was adopting out the litter.
Would not have named her that, personally, but she's so gosh darn pretty, it sorta works.
(Her nickname is "Ed" which makes me feel better).

Edwina is a real cuddle bug. She likes to be held upside down,
enjoys long naps stretched out every which way on top of me when I'm reading on the couch.
And she squeaks when she doesn't get what she wants (hasn't got the "MEE-OW" thing down quite yet, but she's working on it).

Thelo's not a huge fan of being held. He has to be in the right mood.
When he is, his big thing is being carted around the apartment so he can see things from high up in my arms.
In general, however, he's too busy to be held. He has things to do, places to go.
No time for cuddling. A real boy.

A pic taken with Hannah's fabulous cell phone.
Edwina has a serious thing for Brendan (and who can really blame her--
so do I!). Whenever he comes over and picks her up, she forgets everything
else and just stares up at him, adoringly.
