Honestly, doing this documentary was both the most challenging and rewarding experience of my life.
It tested me in a lot of ways and I know it tested my family, as well. I think in the end, the journey
was worth it. I'd like to think most of my family agrees with that.
In any case, all I really know for sure is my Oma is an amazing person. She is a woman of such inner strength
and beauty that I can but only dream that it runs in my blood. I'm so grateful to be related to
her and the Gracie was truly only the icing on the cake. Oma is the five course meal.
This is me below with my sister, Hannah and Sean. I made him carry everything (except the award, of course).
Roz Abrams was the host and when she called out my name, little did she know that nickname would stick
with me for many years to come..."MEEEER-JHHHHAAAAWWWM!"
I can only hope that by the time I win my first Oscar, they will have gotten the pronunciation right....
