Instructions for Online Auction Manager v.1.0
Add New Listings | Manage Listings | Earnings Statistics | Log Out | Instructions
Online Auction Manager is a program designed to help people track their online auctions for two important purposes: 1) To keep track of who has paid for what items, and which items need to be shipped, and 2) To generate a balance sheet for each month, using the listings as a record-keeper for income and expenses. If you treat online auctions as a business, then this tool will be immensely helpful to you.
Getting Started
Using Online Auction manager is pretty easy. Here's some quick tips on how to use it:
- To start, click the "Add New Listings" link to add some listings.
- Go through and add some items you have recently purchased for auctions.
- As you go through the auction process, youcan update your listing by either clicking on the row that contains the listing information, or by clicking the Plus sign in the Edit colum of the listing.
- There are three 4 different statuses for a listing:
- Current Listing: a current listing means that is active
- Paid For: a paid for listing is one that has been paid for, but not shipped
-
Shipped: a listing that has been paid for and shipped
Unsold: a listing that doesn't get sold
- When you edit an item, there are several different inputs. Below is a quick description of each:
- Name: The name of the item
- Bought: How much you bought the item for
- Ship Charge: How much you are charging to ship the item
- Sold Price: How much the item sells for (when this is filled in, the listing automatically turns yellow, so you know that you have an item that needs to be paid for)
- List Fee: How much you paid to list the item in the auction
- Ship Fee: How much it cost you to to ship the item
- Sold To: The individual (name or username) who you sold the item to
- Sold E-mail: The e-mail address of the individual you sold the item to
- Status: Discussed above
- Notes: Add whatever you want here. This area is searchable, so if you want to plug in some keywords for easy reference later on, go right ahead
- To RELIST an item, just click the listing to open the edit box, then click the "Relist" link towards the bottom of the box. This will create a new listing with all the same information, but will clear out some of the columns like "Bought" price, so that your balance sheet works out correctly. Every time you relist an item, a note gets added to the "Notes" section that tells you how many times the item has been re-listed, and what the original ID of the item was.
- You can SEARCH for items by search phrase or by ID.
- Your Earnings Statistics page is generated on-the-fly, so it is always up to date.
