September 2003

September 24th, 2003 - Spider Freedom
It was a routine school morning like any other. The chatter was light, the mood quite blah...same as it is every morning in cell block nine. All the usual suspects were present...
With the exception of two members. It seems Chris and John were both absent.
As we were engaged in convo we spot an innocent trapped in cell block nine! How could such a thing happen?!? Determined not to let the poor creature be trampled by the ignorant masses that would jump and scream, 'Kill it! Kill it!' at his sight I heroically dashed to the aid of this magnificent creature and quickly ran outside with him. I then found a place of safety he would enjoy in the great outdoors. I calmly made my way back towards the school and wondered how long he would be safe...then thought...at least I know he's safe and happy now...
I returned to the building just in time for the warning alarm of section c lockdown to sound. Suddenly overcome with a great sense of pride in what had been accomplished that morning, my hands shot up in the air and I let out a cry of exuberance. "Spider freedom!"

September 25th, 2003 - The Sky Is Falling
It was a bright and sunny weekday morning - actually it was cloudy and a misty rain fell around the atmosphere, but it felt like a sunny morning since it was the start of a four day weekend from school. I was to get spacers in that morning to prepare me for my braces next week. Since I was to be in town for that I decided to bring my friend Joey along for some mall fun (according to some people the mall is the third closest thing to heaven...but I won't get into that. *shudder*).
We made a short stop at my Mom's office building on the way to the dental appointment, and it was there in the conference room with the briefcase that was labeled do not remove Joey told me of her dream the previous night. In her dream we were traveling home in a van and a helicopter came hurtling out of the sky in our direction, but it missed us. Then a meteorite started to plummet from the sky, but it too missed us.
Later that day while at the mall we decided to watch a movie. We figured we'd see Matchstick Men. It was an ok movie...it wasn't bad...needless to say, our attention was quickly diverted from the film as the theatre ceiling made a sound as though the whole thing was beginning to fall. We both looked at each other in shock, then at the roof, and then brought out attention back to the film. Then again, quite suddenly, we hear it falling! Only louder this time. We quickly became very paranoid and our minds raced through the many possibilities of how we would become crushed to death. Upon reflection, we both agreed it was the most riveting and exciting movie we had seen in the past while.
If that weren't enough...
On our travels through the mall we decided to stop into South of the Border. It was there we discovered that their ceiling was leaking...
Later while sitting down at the Intermission waiting for our chauffer to arrive (and whilst watching to see how many people below us looked up at the Intermission...we counted 3), we noticed that part of the mall ceiling in the hallway had collapsed. There was no place to turn, no place to hide! The signs all pointed to one thing...
The sky was in fact falling. Just as Joey's dream had foretold. So heed my warning! Take cover! Beware of the signs in your area! The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

I wanna hear what you have to say
