False Hope
False hope. Many people say it isn't really hope. But it's often the false hope, the hope that goes against the odds that people think unrealistic and impossible, is most often the hope that makes real change. Think about it. What kind of hope do you have really? What good does most hope do if it's not the false kind? How much will you strive to make something happen without false hope?

Life
Life. The never-ending debate between existance and death.

There's Always Something To Offer
There are so many different things out there. Every single one of them has something to offer you. You may not see it, or you may not like it, but it's still there. Even if you don't like it, you've still gotten something out of it; it's still offered you something.
You can get something out of everything if you leave yourself open to it. How many books or movies do we ignore and say are no good without ever looking at them or reading them? Or, we have, but we took them at face value and dared not to dig deeper? They have something to offer, but only if you look for it. They are left open to you, but you must also be left open to them in oder to profit by it.
Now, how many people do we ignore or overlook? We're all guilty of it. Just as we don't have enough time to read, listen to, look at, or watch, every form of art there is out there, we don't have time or the ability to meet every person there is out there. But since I feel like I should, I try to get to know everyone who is willing to get to know me. Even if they're not, I'll try to become at least aquainted with them in an effort to learn something about them. Learn what they have to offer.
You may not think it, but even you have something to offer the world. You have thoughts and feelings, and despite the fact that you may not be able to express them well or properly, they're still there. They can still be shown.

So take a closer look at people's actions, talk to them even just a little. By doing this, you'll be amazed at how much you can learn about life from even the simplest converstation, such as things you're interested in. Open yourself to life, and you will see that a lot of things, things that you maybe never thought were, are open to you.

Kaboodle
I have this theory about a thing called a kaboodle. As most things in life turn out to be, it sounds silly, but it's a rather important thing.

Your kaboodle is something you hold inside you. When people refer to "deep down in places you don't like to talk about" (Spike, BtVS) that's what holds those things. It holds those places, and the things you don't like to discuss, and the parts about you that you would rather not mention. It holds all the things about yourself and others, that even if you do so freely now, you at some point didn't want to admit to. It holds all the denial, all the doubts, all the frivolous things you've ever disliked or hated. It holds everything you've ever dubbed tabu. It holds all the things that are "forgotten but not gone" (Broadway, Goo Goo Dolls). Basically, it's the keeper of 'all that other stuff'. It's your sickness, and it will be exposed. You can let it all come out or you can be consumed by it. Either way, it ends up exposed. That's an eventuality we all have to face.

A Lesson From Matlock
As odd as this may sound, I was watching Matlock a while ago. It was the episode where this group is smuggling raw diamonds by hiding them in the bars of animal cages when the zoo ships animals overseas. At first Cliff (Matlock's associate) got the lama they were going to ship checked out. Cliff couldn't understand it when there was nothing found in the lama or in the rest of the cage's contents. That's when Leann (Matlock's daughter) remembered a story her father had told her. It's a pretty famous one, so I'm sure you've heard this tale before.
There was a man working in a different country from his home. Everyday he would have to cross the border. Each day he brought a wheelbarrow of dirt home with him. The authorities would search him and the dirt each time he crossed the border because they were sure he was trying to smuggle something, but each time all they found was dirt. One day he didn't cross the border for work, so they went to check out the place where he worked. When they did, they found that every wheelbarrow in the place had been stolen.
This is how they discovered that there were diamonds in the cage bars. It wasn't the contents of the package, it was the package itself.

This to me just goes to show that while the contents of all things are very important, don't overlook the package. Every part of something helps to show you the big picture. You often hear the saying, "It's not what is outside, but what is inside that counts." While this does generally tend to be true....both are important. Without both you wouldn't have a whole. You wouldn't be able to see the forest for the trees so to speak. Don't focus too long at one detail....leave yourself open to the bigger picture.

Why
What is it?
Think about that for a minute. How often do things happen and we ask, 'What is it that's happening to me?'
How often do we think, 'What is it that's going on?'
Why is often an after thought, if it's thought of at all. Why is it that why comes second? Why do we get preoccupied so much with what, and get so confused in the process, that we forget about why, or the why gets lost?
Often times too, after we have discovered exactly what it is that's happened to us, and what it is that it means to us, we either find a peace with it, or we don't. It all happens just like that. It takes a while to get through the what, especially since there are some things that make it hard for us to function. But once the what is over, we tend to think, 'Ok, that's it now.' We know what it was, what it meant to us, and what we're going to do about it.
But is what really enough? Why not why next? The what's are imporatant, but where's 'Why did this happen? Why does this mean what it means to me? Why do I want to do this?'
Just think what could have happened, what could have been saved, if we had thought to ask why.

Paradise
I was offered paradise.
I asked, "What would I have to give up for it?"
"Everything."
"What good is paradise if you can't feel to enjoy it, or know to appreciate it?"
Then I thought, maybe the idea of that is so scary because deep down inside, maybe that's what it is we really want.

Life Isn't A Movie
Sometimes I wish life could be like a movie. That it would never end, that people close to you would never have to be hurt or die, that you'd never have to die, and that you could re-live the best parts whenever you wanted. But I'm well aware of the difference, I know it's nothing like a good comedy or a fun movie, because too many who were close to me have died already, too many have already been hurt badly, and another person close to me doesn't have much longer to live.

But you want to know something? As much as I love life, when I'm with the man I love, when I'm there next to him and I see him smile, and I know that my firends and family are ok, I feel like I could die tomorrow and everything would be alright. Scary isn't it?

You know what's even sacrier.....I wouldn't change a thing.
