SIDE EFFECTS
1. Pregnancy/ectopic pregnancy[1]
2. Hot flushes/night sweats and/or cold flushes/chills[2]
3. Bouts of rapid heart beat.
4. Irritability
5. Mood swings, sudden tears
6. Trouble sleeping through the night
7. Irregular periods shorter, lighter periods; heavier periods,flooding, phantom periods, shorter cycles, longer cycles.(increased risk
of hysterectomy[3])
8. Loss of libido, little or no sex drive or desire for sex
9. Dry/itchy vagina (normal vaginal pH is about 4.5.Vaginal pH of
6.0 to 7.5 in the absence of yeast infection indicates
low hormone levels and
menopause)
10. Colour change in vaginal area (colour gets darker-darker red to
purple) 11.
Chronic Fatigue
12. Anxiety, feeling ill at ease[4]
13. Feelings of dread, apprehension, doom
14. Difficulty concentrating, disorientation, mental confusion
15. Disturbing memory lapses
16. Stress incontinence, urge incontinence
17. Prolapse of uterus due to rapid decrease in hormone levels
18. Itchy, crawly skin(like ants crawling under the skin)
19. Aching, sore joints, Muscles and tendons (may include carpal tunnel
syndrome)
20. Breast tenderness
21. Decrease in breast mass
22. Headache change(decrease or increase)
23. Gastrointestinal distress, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)(caused
by changing hormone levels)[5]
24. Depression (responds to hormone therapy)
25. Exacerbation of existing conditions
26. Allergies developing or increasing (chronic sinusitis)[6]
27. Weight gain/loss (thyroid may be affected)[7]

28. Hair loss or thinning, head pubic or whole body; increase in facial hair
29. Dizziness, light-headedness, or episodes of loss of balance
30. Changes in body odour
31. Electric shock or stabbing sensation under the skin
32. Tingling in the extremities (potassium or calcium imbalance
can cause this)
33. Gum problems, increased bleeding
34. Burning tongue burning roof of mouth, bad taste in mouth, change
in breath odour
35. Osteoporosis (after several years)[9]
36. Changes in fingernails; softer, crack or break more easily
37. Stabbing pains in pelvic area at time of ovulation
38. Pelvic pain[10]
39. Development of adenomyosis[11]
40. Development of ovarian/tubal cysts[12]
41. Decreased lactation ability
42. Dyspareunia/post coital ache[13]
