1994 was the beginning of my first derby car a Chevy Nova. Not the greatest car. We built it with durabond and I think the first hit we had cement everywhere!

1994 and 19951995 The Early Years
This car came from the wreckers - it wasn't the greatest either. We lost the drive shaft at this derby and finished in second place. We were still learning at this point.

1994 and 19951996 Mohawk Derby
We ran a full-size Ford wagon. This car folded hi to the sky. Here's a snapshot of myself, and one of our key sponsors Steve from Steve and Anne's Pet Stuff.
Thanks Steve!

19971997 1997 was a fun, hard hittin' derby as you can see! There's not much left of this one and we only ran it once. I got some good bruises to show for it.

1998 the '67 Newport
1998 1998 was the year for the '67 Newport. We bought it for $100.00 without a motor or tranny. We rebuilt it from the ground up. This had to be my favourite and the most exciting car we have ever run/built. It took lots of hard hits, rolled over once, standing straight on my nose. It was great! You gotta love derbyin'!!

The '67 Newport competed in 8 derbies before it finally died! Some of the local guys kept saying Oh, S*$@, not you again! - eh, Charlie (#81)?? We won 4 trophies, 2 for Sportsmanship. One was from the regional in Madoc and the other was from Tweed where I placed 2nd in the feature. This is where we retired this car. It had a 318, ran great, very strong southern car. Thanks Farmer The Dodge Man

1998 Front View 67 NewportSportsman TrophyFront view of the '67 Newport. I think the teeth scared them away! The car beside me is good friend Charlie Way #81. He's a great competitor.

Here's one of my sportsman trophies this one's from the Madoc derby. I believe receiving this was better than actually winning the feature. Not too many of these are given out.

TrophiesTweed, Ontario We finished 2nd in the feature with the '67 Newport and also won my second sportsman trophy of the season. The trophy was a memorial for Shawn Hautenbach who was a fellow derby driver. His life was taken away too early by a tragic motor accident. He will always be remembered by our team.

2000
2000 Here's one of our mini. In the background is the other M of M&M, my car builder Mark. He's a great guy, mechanic and my best friend. Not shown we built a Mustang which won the Eastern Ontario 4 Cylinder Championship. I couldn't find the photo of car and trophy. We have to thank Rodney for all his help.

ImpalaSeptember 2000 Kingston Exhibition
We ran a full-size Impala. Not much damage done so we'll be able to re-run it for the 2001 seasonwith some modifications.

ImpalaOctober 2000 Fall Slam Kingston, Ontario
We placed 3rd in the feature with our 1978 Ford half ton. It ran great good truck with a strong frame. This is where we learned what will have to be done in building our next truck for 2001.
We also ran a Volvo for the first time in the 4 cylinder mini class and placed 4th in the feature.
