Lynda's Comments:
Doing it potluck WAS very different, but I liked it. It was really nice to not be so busy as people were arriving, and I liked that there was a variety of enjoyable food that Emily and I would probably not have thought to do on our own. It did make the kitchen expectably more congested and made the completion times somewhat more haphazard, though part of that was simply that when doing a new recipe, it's not always easy to tell how long everything will actually take. The chicken dishes were both very different, too. We'll try to ameliorate the dish overlap by getting people to report in advance what they'll be bringing next time.

Emily's Comments:
Doing a potluck was VERY different from cooking everything ourselves. In some ways it was easier, and in others it was surprisingly more difficult. The cooking itself was made much simpler by not having to juggle several things and get everything prepared at the same time. On the other hand, it was harder to coordinate who was bringing what, and we did end up with two chicken dishes and two (very different, so it's not a problem) salads. All-in-all it was a good meal, although parts of it weren't ready till an hour and a half after scheduled eating time.
